My parents are currently going through the process of getting dental implants from the Center for Prosthetic Dentistry. They referred me to this office since I was overdue for x-rays & cleaning. I'm usually comfortable with dental visits, but can definitely understand others who may be deathly afraid of the dentist (i.e. my mother). The entire staff is very professional and friendly; from the receptionist to the hygienist and Dr. Derbabian, everyone I encountered were extremely pleasant and honest with their services. I got my x-rays & cleaning several days ago, and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a hygienist. Plus, their goodie bags are off the hook. This doctor is nice enough, but his diagnosis of TMJ was superficial (I came to him initially for cracked teeth but no clicking or pain), and his extremely expensive tooth guard eventually caused clicking and pain. When it got bad enough, I went back to him, but received little help. Finally I stopped wearing his $1200 tooth guard since I discovered on-line that they often are the cause, in themselves, of TMJ for patients with bad misalignment and should never be prescribed. Misalignment itself can be cured with retainers. As though the $1200 I gave him was meaningless, his office refused to help me find someone who could help me. If you know you have TMJ, he can make an expensive tooth guard. Otherwise I would look elsewhere. read more

PLEASE READ. If you need dental work, especially crowns, please read this review. I was a patient of Dr. Derbabian. I came to him seeking relief from pain I was having in one molar, just one. Dr. Derbabian explained that he would need to work on surrounding teeth and promised it would resolve my pain. I did not have insurance and shared I would be paying cash. Dr. Derbabian quoted me over $8,000 for the work that needed to be done. Again, I was assured after the work was done I would be pain free. I decided to go ahead with treatment as he was confident and the staff were nice. After all the crowns were completed my pain was not resolved and was actually worse. I went back to Dr. Derbabian hoping he could help as I had made a huge financial investment given his recommendation. He then confessed that he could not help me and that he would need to refer me to another dentist! I was so shocked and completely saddened by this news. Not only did I trust him but I also payed over $8,000 for work that made my quality of life worse! Now that I look back in retrospect I feel that other people should be aware that maybe he is not the most honest dentist out there and maybe you should look elsewhere. I still can't believe how much I payed for him to make things worse and pass a long to another dentist so I could be ripped off again. Just awful! read more

Ok, I had a loose crown for over a year. I was poor and as soon as I made more money, I popped over to this place just because all their Yelp reviews are 5 stars. I was examined and told that Dr. Derbabian would present me with a few options with how to proceed. My loose cap was on a root canal. I have had so much cosmetic work done on my front teeth since childhood, I can't remember specifics anymore. The root was weak. The cap was loose. It would be a lifetime issue because any crown they put on wouldn't last another 20 years. Dr. Derbabian suggested a dental implant which would be more expensive but would solve the problem for life. So I gave them the go-ahead. The technology is hi-tech. The x-rays are immediate. I didn't even have a chance to exhale before they were on screen in front of me in the dentist chair. Dr. Derbabian told me the dental implants wouldn't hurt with the way they conduct the procedure. But my 89-year-old client (I walk dogs) said she had a dental implant and was in agony. Vicodin wasn't enough. Dr. Derbabian told me this morning that usually they open the gum and rip it off the bone, which is where the pain comes with implants. They navigate around the gum. I didn't even need the IBUProfen they gave me. Bizarre right? I had a tooth extraction and didn't even need an IBUProfen. Over the past few months, I have been a regular visitor with a cleaning, the surgery and the check-ups. Everyone, from Marcy at the front desk, to the hygienists, to the person who cleaned my teeth has been (and I am not exaggerating) a joy to talk to. They are kind, gentle, personable. I told them I was going to stop by over the holidays just to see them again since my next appointment isn't until January. I can't imagine going a month without checking in on those smiling faces. There is a little wait to see the doctors since they teach dentistry, but its worth it. The money, the wait, all of it. They made everything painless and perfect. When suddenly a crown fell out, I found this place on yelp, and decided to go because every review gave it 5 stars. It turned out to be 100% true. They merit every word of praise. After my first emergency that took me here, I moved the rest of my family to this clinic for general dental treatment, like fillings and cleanings. Here is why: Center for Prosthetic Dentistry has a relaxing and light, yet warm atmosphere. It is very clean and hygienic. Lovely welcoming from Marcy on the phone when I first called, which continues every time I come over there or make a new appointment. She also follows up with ample text reminders so I never have to be afraid of missing an appointment, which is great! Vahe, who assists Dr Derbabian, is great at making us feel relaxed and less nervous. I have always feared the dentist and getting any minor procedure would quickly become an anxiety provoking catastrophe. To prevent those little dental meltdowns, i would avoid the dentist at all cost. However, one day a chipped tooth and botched filling ( from a previous Dds I had been too years ago) left me in a state of panic and pain.I needed a dentist fast, and a GOOD one to not only fix my newly cracked tooth , but repair the "gone bad" filling a prior dentist had done that was now on the verge of needing a root canal if I didn't get it fixed ASAP. To make my overly dramatic story short, when I came across Dr. Derbabian , i knew from the moment I spoke with him about my dental troubles, that he was the man for the job. DR. Derbabian and his entire staff are so welcoming; any anxiety you may have about visiting the dentist will diminish the minute you walk in their office. Dr. Krikor Derbabian is one of the rudest, uncivilized and unprofessional people i have ever met in my life. It is not sufficient to have a professional degree, but more importantly to be civilized as well. They DO teach manners and communication skills at school. I am certain he skipped those classes. I brought up a concern regarding the end result of his recent work that he has charged me $12,000. He did not like it at all. I went over the issues and flaws in his work but he said he will need to charge me additional to fix those issues because he will have to pay the Lab out of his pocket . He said he doesnot care :(. Since I was diagnosed progressive periodontitis, I visited four dentists (1 in UCLA dental school, 1 in UC Riverside, and 2 private practices). After each visit, I would be scared, upset and frustrated. The comments made by those dentists made me felt it was the end of the world. During my six years in the Ph.D. program, my thesis was on angiogenesis in cancer tumors and I worked closely with several oncologists in two hospitals. I had heard and seen terminal cases with the worst possible prognosis. And those dentists made me felt I was in stage 4 of a particular terminal disease. The atmosphere inside those dental offices was suppressing and depressing. No wonder no one wants to see a dentist until his/her oral condition is beyond repair. After consulting my brother in law, a USC dental school graduate, he recommended me to seek help in Center for Prosthetic Dentistry. He told me the three dentists there were his professors when he was attending USC School of Dentistry, and that they were the best of the best. Still, I had my reservation when it came to seeing a dentist, due to past daunting experiences. My first visit to Center for Prosthetic Dentistry changed my view forever. The office of Center for Prosthetic Dentistry was calm with soothing music in the background. All the staffs I met would greet me with friendly smiles. Dr. Derbabian examined and studied my case and then explained the treatment plan to me slowly and clearly. Due to the nature of my job, I could not waste any time and he came up with a plan that would allow me to undergo proper treatment without any disruption to my daily schedule. Throughout the examination and meeting with Dr. Derbabian, I felt comfortable and confident, for he used language that I could understand. Dr. Derbabian was there for his patients and he was more than willing to help them. This is the difference between a regular dentist and a true doctor. Marcy was a professional and friendly staff. Ever since I entered the front door, she always smiled at me and made me felt relax, calm and welcomed. After the examination, she explained to me clearly about the payment options. Medical cost is probably the largest obstacle and/or concern that prevent people from seeking treatments. And Center of Prosthetic Dentistry provided different options that made proper dental treatment possible. The advices Marcy gave me were all for the benefit of a patient. The directions she gave me were very clear and it was very easy for me to seek her help when I was confused. For example, I needed to take antibiotics prior to my dental procedure. When Marcy mailed me the prescription, she gave me written instructions that were easy to understand and follow. Also, she would remind me of upcoming appointments ahead of time. She always let me know that would come up so I could prepare accordingly. Honestly? A childhood fear of dentists has plagued me from when I was a 8 year old boy. When they say it's the "CENTER" for Prosthetic Dentistry, they really mean they cover your needs end to end. And not only do they cover your prosthetic needs end to end, they are also very caring, wonderful, cheery, easy to work with and will accommodate your schedule to the best they can. Before going to the Center for Prosthetic Dentistry, I first went to this upscale Dentistry in Arcadia. But because the dentistry didn't offer all of the services, I was asked to go to another office for X-rays and another office for ortho and another office for prosthetics and it was just hard scheduling everything in different offices because there were so many dependencies and it just took time. Moreover, because the expertise were so siloed, much as they tried, the dentist couldn't provide an overall view of what to expect nor provide the best guidance possible in terms of treatment. So I found myself researching most of it, to ensure I was getting the correct recommendation. After much concerns, I was so relieved and happy when I found this office and Dr. Derbabian. He's funny, he's caring, he's knowledgeable and he is confident in the direction of where your care needs to go. The cherries on top, of course, are Marcy and Evelyn who complements Dr. Derbabian's skills with their own excellent skill sets and customer service as well. Ever since I can remember the dentist has been a visit I'd rather avoid. I don't like to visit the dentist, anything they do in your mouth somehow creates pain. At least that was my impression of the dentist for the longest time. I believed them to be tooth nazi bent on taking my teeth at whatever cost. Fortunately I've found a dentist that is not only really fun to visit, he also has a sweet, caring and sensitive touch when dealing with your teeth. The week of my appointment, i received this neat reminder text to my cell phone, reminding me of my impending doom. I went in for my procedure here with Dr. Derbabian, and he made the process extremely easy, and kept me calm with the genre of music he had playing in the background and with his calming conversation. It may have also been the fact that i knew exactly what Dr. Derbabian was doing with my teeth, because he'd done such a good job of explaining my procedure. May I just say before my visit, I had trouble even cracking a smile without my immediate reaction being to cover my mouth in fear of my teeth being seen. Now thanks to Dr. Derbabian I am able to smile freely, and show off my beautiful teeth made possible by the wonderful staff and incredible doctor here at Center For Prosthetic Dentistry. I was in a bind, as the night before my front tooth which I had chipped last year during a mountain biking accident, re-chipped and was all jagged and hillbilly-like. Early next morning I sought yelp's assistance in finding a dentist that could take me in; I came to find that a lot of dentist's are closed on Mondays, which put me in a panic. And most did not open until 9 am. Ahh! I called the few that did open at 8, but they couldn't take me. Enter Marcy and Dr. Krikor Derbabian. ANGELS. Nobody enjoys going to the dentist, but it's something we need to do if we want pretty, healthy teeth. I've been seeing Dr. Derbabian for several years now for extensive dental work (implants, crowns, etc.). My teeth were destroyed because of prescription medication. Some of the issues with restoring my teeth have been quite challenging. He's found a solution for all of my problems. Dr. Derbabian has once again given me a bright smile!!
