COMPLETELY RUDE!! I called and asked if they would take some furniture. This guy Alex said sure bring them down so I get a friend to help me load these heavy pieces of furniture in the truck. When we get down there he has an attitude saying they aren't accepting donations. Why the hell did you say to bring them down if you won't accept them?! After arguing back and forth, I decided to go to Goodwill. They happily accepted the items. I have spent hundreds of dollars at ReStore and will no longer be supporting a business that treats its customers like crap. read more

The furniture is nice, but the prices were horrible. I saw a desk that had cracked and broken veneer for $200. The dresser in the picture had a crack all along the top, despite the beautiful finish, also asking $200. Used Ikea cabinet handles for the same price you can get them new at Ikea! Not worth the hour+ drive from CT, sadly. read more

I am a builder and have donated building supplies of various types here over several years. I have bought a few things there as well. Today I stopped by to do the same. Parked in the front, walked into the store and was sort of greeted by Brendan and said that I have donations. While I am aware that they prefer appointments for drop of, I did not have one. They have always taken everything I dropped off gladly. Be it flooring, cabinets, custom doors, windows etc. , mostly new left over stuff sometimes reclaimed items. Brendan did not ask whether I had an appointment but instead inquired about what I was going to donate. While inquiring and me telling him what I had he walked outside to the vehicle with me. As soon we got to the vehicle he very rudely told me that I can't just show up without appointment and that they have a lot of things out back and I need to come back. Now, he could just said that nicely in the store and then made an appointment for another time or day. But he didn't. He just very rudely said they won't take it today. I got in the vehicle and left. On my way out I called the store to see about drop off availability. Allen answered. I told him what I was trying to donate. He said, that they happily take building material and when I would be able to drop it off. I told him that I was just at the store but got turned away very rudely. I told him that I am just down the street and could turn around and be there within minutes. He said that's fine and that I could drop it off now. I turned around drove straight to the drop off area where two workers were about to help me unload. However, Brendan came storming out and even more rudely than before told me that I can't just keep showing up and that he just told me that they don't take anything. I told him that I had called after I left the first time and I was told that I could drop it off. Told him that Allen( who said he's a manager too, albeit only an assistant one, which I did not know) said I could drop it off now. Brendan shouted at me saying that I can't just stop by and drop off my junk here and without appointment. He said that he's the manager, meaning he's in charge. I told him that my donations aren't junk (left over tile, grout, high gloss plywood panels, walnut ply etc.) but if he doesn't want it I'll take it elsewhere. I told him that he could have said all of that nicely and that he doesn't need to be an asshole about it and wished him a good day. The two employees at that point started heading back into the store. Brendan even more rude now told me to leave "his" property. I called the store a little later and talked to Allen who seemed apologetic but couldn't offer any help otherwise. I would not recommend to donate there. There are other donation options which are gladly taking your free stuff which they can then sell. It's sad and a loss for the community. But unless there is going to be a new store manager I will neither donate nor buy anything there ever again. read more

When I first walked into the ReStore looking for a picture frame, I didn't expect to see so much weird stuff, namely, used paint, bathroom tiles, and window screens. Since I've only been to the Albany ReStore, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know each ReStore was different! Anyway, I found the perfect $1 picture frame I needed and then looked over to find the perfect mirror. I had needed a mirror to replace one I was selling and this one was the perfect size. I paid for both items and asked the man at the front desk, who had helped check me out, if he could also help me bring the mirror to my car. Not only did he help carry the mirror to my car, but he helped me pack the mirror in a way that would not damage the mirror. He thought that placing it on its side wedged between seat cushions would be the best bet to keep it alive for the ride home, but unfortunately he was wrong. This vintage mirror broke in half as I was driving, and not even over a bump. Sad. I didn't know what to do at first, but I wanted to at least alert the man that he shouldn't load mirrors into cars that way. I also needed a place to throw away the new glass shards in my car. When I re-entered the store carrying half of the mirror, he replied, "Oh no!" with a frown on his face. "It didn't work," I replied. "It died." He offered to give me a refund or exchange the mirror, which he totally didn't have to do. Two other staff members joined in to help me find a replacement mirror and figure out how best to package it so that this one wouldn't break too. Collectively, they found bubble wrap in some corner of the store and a moving blanket that they let me borrow. Two staff members came to my car to prep the mirror for travel. They told me I could return the moving blanket at my leisure. These were the nicest staff members ever and although some of the prices were a bit steep at this ReStore, the kindness of the staff makes up for it. read more
