I ordered from the catering menu for a work function and everyone loved the food. We had the Oxtails, Curry Goat, we also had the Mac & Cheese. Two of my co-workers, one from Jamaica and the other from Guyana, both recommended Central Caribbean Bakery as the place to go for the best Jamaican Beef Patties in the Bronx. Golden Krust patties can't compete with CCB's and forget about the frozen Tower Isles ones in the supermarket freezer. I've also gotten them from Sybil's Bakery and CCB's are flakier, crunchier and more flavorful filling. Try all the different varieties: Beef, Spicy Beef, Cheesy Beef, Chicken, Jerk Chicken, Shrimp, Fish and even Vegetable. I might get a dozen box of beef patties next time I'm in the neighborhood. Fresh is the best, but even when refrigerated for a few days, the golden yellow crust becomes crispy again when heated up in the toaster oven. 350°F for 10-12 minutes is all you need. One of these days, I might even try some of the other cakes and baked goods arrayed around the counter. Just don't get there too late in the day or the beef patties will sell out. read more

I have to say this, This place might have the best beef patties in the world and that is saying not even this area of the entire state of New York. I HAVE tasted something amazing and they are these beef patties ( Spicy Beef to be exact). The patties had a very unique taste, pretty much will just say they were delicious. The price is not bad, it was $2.20 each for the Spicy Beef and a bit more for the Chicken, well I got the Jerk Chicken patty, maybe $3.20 in price (Amazing). I have left raving reviews for Central Caribbean in the past as their food is amazing and there is no issue there. One of the hallmarks ,along with being delicious, was also being competitively priced. That is now a thing of the past as they have raised prices extensively twice this year alone. As a person who is a regular here that is very discouraging. This is a small neighborhood shop and the majority of patrons are likely regulars. I want to see management be forward thinking and find a way to continue offering the service we all love while still being affordable. I know they are opening a new location soon and will be expanding the Gun Hill location to serve cooked food soon so they may be setting the stage to evolve into a large greedy corporation and are testing to see what they can get away with and are getting kind of brazen. My husband ordered some of their cocktail patties for my baby shower after our friend recommended them and let's just say my guests swallowed them whole. They went quick. We ordered most of their flavors (shrimp, beef, veggie, chicken) and all delicious. I was especially impressed with the veggie because that can be a hit or miss and theirs was a definitely a hit. My husband went and absolutely loved it...we were on FaceTime as he ate and with each bite he went on about how delish it was. Fast forward to today, of course he wants patties. This is quickly becoming my favorite caribbean bakery in my area. I used to go to Champion Bakery and Kingston Tropical Bakery. Champion Bakery has really good patties and okay bread. Kingston Tropical has really good bread and okay patties. Central Caribbean Bakery has the best of the both worlds really good flaky patties and out of this world bread. This small bakery may be missed by many from the outside but once you sample their goods you can't forget them! They have delicious beef patties (they have other types of patties as well but I have not sampled them yet) and coco bread and to die for fruit cake. I have also sampled the sorrel drink (made by them as well), the bun and cheese, coconut drops and bread pudding. I must say I love it all. The place is small but always is clean and neat and the owners (family owned) and staff that assisted me each time were always very polite and accommodating. I live in Manhattan but I gladly make the trip again and again for the beef patties and coco bread and the fruit cake which I always have to share or bring extra for others.
