I have dined there several times and never been we wowed by the food. This time I ordered Calamari; after a few bites we told the server the calamari was so tough that it was inedible, she didn't respond or care! No offer to replace the dish or ask if I would prefer something else. Nope, just charged me $18 for something I could not eat. A road trip of 250 miles total, to have brunch on a summer Sunday, to celebrate a birthday, took us here. I don't usuallu attend buffet style anythong, but the birthday girl lived nearby, and the rest of our party like buffets. There was no tip-off on what to expect, so we were surprised to see only four covered serving pans on the buffet table, a coffee station, and a small table with a few cinamon buns, apple turnovers, and some fruit. Under the pans' covers we found some surprises. The selection of food was, French Toast, scrambled eggs, sausage links, bread pudding, ham slices, bacon, and home fries. We arrived at 11:15 AM. The food selection was picked over and nearly skint. Three of us got French Toast, the fourth had to request a new batch from the server. The home fries were old and cold as well as nearly depleated. Plenty of bread pudding and scrambled eggs were available, but the limp bacon and nurly little links were also cold and just about gone. Drinks. We had to go to the bar and ask for water and orange juice. The "Brunch Punch" was enjoyed by one of our party, and pronounced delicious. The rest of us were alcohol free enjoying coffee and OJ. The only server was behind the bar The restaurant has an unbelievable seating capacity. Being on a popular summer recrestion waterwsy, Otisco Lake, i'll bet they use a lot of their table for dinner all Summer. The place is classy in a subtle way. Cleanliness and maintenence are meticulous. The tables snd chairs exude quality, and even the rest rooms were well appointed and tidy. Yesterday evening a friend and I came to have a meal and a cocktail by the lake at lake view restaurant. We were told we would have to wait 15-30 min we were totally ok with that. Then immediately greeted by Jim a server on the front terrace, he took us out to a high top two person table overlooking the lake. We sat down and we're very happy to have been seated early excited to dine here. Our experience took a turn for the worst, Jim did not bring menu's to us for about 35-40 minutes. How ever he did have time to seat himself two other tables and bring them menus and silverware before remembering to bring silverware and menus to my friend and I. I will give it to Jim he was very busy, and seating himself more tables making himself more busy. How ever being in the food and beverage business for almost 15 years now if you haven't helped the tables that sat first don't seat yourself new tables. After getting us our menus he immediately asked for our drink order do to the fact that he was very busy and wouldn't be back quickly to gather our drink order. The tables he sat after us however got drinks and time with their menu. We got our drinks ordered our appetizers and entrees. Just when we thought the experience was taking a turn for the better we were very surprised at what was to come. Hungry we ate our cold tasteless appetizers, then our meals arrived. My friends hamburger was decent, a bit over cooked. My chicken sandwich was hard cold and very dry after taking one bite of my sandwich I couldn't eat it any longer. I ate my fries and tried to not say anything however the sandwich was 16.00 and I couldn't pay 16.00 for something In edible. When brought to Jim attention he said it was a lot of extra work to try and remove the item from the check so he would bring me the box and our check so I could take the in edible sandwich home. We did speak to the bartender and she went ahead and removed it from our bill thank you very much unfortunately I did not get her name, (SHE IS A ROCKSTAR!). We might give it another try some time in the very far future. Unfortunately we left unsatisfied! I would have left less stars but the situation does happen to servers who are overwhelmed. After spending much of the day bicycling and driving cars to replace flat tires, my cycle friends and I took a break at the Lakeside Vista after hearing so many positive things about the place. Kept it light with a margarita and pizza. The margarita was surprisingly good. The pizza too was very good. The view of the lake is spectacular. We had a chance to meet and talk to the proprietors. So my wife and I had been here several times for their Sunday brunch. Always good. Good food, good service, etc. So for my wifes 30th birthday, she decided she wanted to try dinner for the first time. On top of that, they were also doing a free wine tasting and the Tribal Revival Band would be there performing live music, so she was looking forward to a nice evening. When we got there, the band was just setting up outside, but there was no outside seating. We were sat inside, and there's no way to hear the live music from the outside. So began a miserable dining experience. Earlier in the day, I had scoped out their dinner menu since we'd never been there other than for brunch. I found it interesting that they had a huge welcome to their new chef on their website, seeing as there was really nothing on their dinner menu that seemed out of the ordinary that warranted a chef. We sat and chose what we wanted. Our server, who we'd had before, seemed extremely off this night. There were not a lot of tables inside, but she was extremely forgetful and took very long between checking on tables or completing simple tasks, which we also noticed at her other tables. My wife ordered their fried fish with their house vegetable, which that night was roasted green beans, and a baked potato. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. It would be an hour before we got our food, which wasn't anything difficult to make, and when we got it, was completely disappointing. While my wife said her fried fish was ok, it shouldn't have taken an hour to prepare. My buffalo sandwich was frozen chicken tenders on top of the hardest sub roll I've ever eaten with lettuce and tomato. Again, nothing that should have taken an hour, and food I could've made better versions of at home. We had been considering dessert, but since the service and food were so bad, we passed. My wife left pretty miserable thanks to a disappointing 30th birthday meal. I'm not sure who this new chef of theirs is, but he clearly doesn't know how to run a kitchen or come up with a good menu. read more

We learned about this place because a friends band was playing there. Good parking. Beautiful view of the lake from either deck or inside from a window seat. Clean with lots of seating. Good selection of wine and beer. We choose separate wine flights. There is a long list of wine to choose from for your flight. Some of the wine loved, a few were good, the final 2 were not to our taste. You may love them all. I had the Lobster (split lobster tail) Mac & Cheese with a side Caesar Salad. The lobster Mac & Cheese was very good. I love the presentation but it wasn't easy to get the meat out of the shell and some of the meat was a little translucent. More cheese would elevate this dish. The Caesar salad was very good. Crisp lettuce. My wife had the Cobb Salad with crumbly blue cheese and grilled chicken and Italian dressing on the side. It was very good. This resturant was a disappointment to say the least. We never got our bread and butter to start out and it took far too long after asking for the drink menu to actually get it. The waitress seemed disinterested and wasn't around often enough to ask us how our food was, which wasn't very good. The pizza never described it's size and was very close to a personal rather than anything worth sharable size. Then our burger was wrong on most accounts. Cheese, how it was cooked, and toppings were all wrong. We could not compalin about this though because our waitress wasnt around. It was not busy and there are plenty of tables open so this was not an issue with too many people to serve. Finally, the dessert was obviously frozen and reheated or heated in a microwave. Only some parts of the cookies were melted and others were actually cold. The cheesecake was meh at best and either store bought or poorly made and stored for too long. We went there for an Easter buffet. We had a large group- 16. Our waiter Doug did a good job....we kept moving around visiting each other but he tracked us pretty well while bringing drinks and bills at the end. The food was good. Really enjoyed the waffles and the meatballs. They were struggling to keep up and they ran out of plates a couple times causing the line to back up. Also the husband said the carrot cake was bad- really dry. Someone who possibly was owner or manager volunteered to take a picture of our group, which was appreciated and staff were very friendly! It's hard to judge a restaurant by a buffet on a busy holiday so we will give it another shot this summer. It pains me to say anything negative about Lakeside Vista, but I feel like the quality of their food is so variable. I've had amazing, excellent meals here... and then, not so much. I ordered the Lakeside pasta three times- and each time was different from the last. The first time it was incredible. The second time, it was almost inedible, it had so much butter and oil in it. I absolutely love the atmosphere- they feature live bands outside on the patio, and the view of the lake is breathtaking- it almost makes up for the lack of consistency. I've tried a number of other menu items, including the burger, Utica greens, and broiled haddock- each were just okay. However- their free bread rolls with garlicly butter are incredible! Friday nights they have free wine or beer tastings inside, and they always feature local wineries. Their wine selection is amazing! read more

My first time here!! The view is beautiful. We sat on the back deck under the shade. Could have sat there longer soaking up the view. The food was surprisingly better than I was expecting. The beer battered haddock was a little oily, but crispy and tender. The beans were good. My husband had the lobster Mac and cheese. It was more mac than lobster, but was good. He is use to Maine lobster Mac and cheese. So he expected much more. The service was very good and they were on top of things. Very polite and had smiles on their face. Very honest about their favorites as well. Which we like as we feel it is important that they know what all the dishes taste like. As for the cost. We found it reasonable. The best fish dinner I've had in the area in a long time. The fish was tender, thick and large and fried perfectly. Way better then Doug's Fish Fry or Amber Inn. The accompanying salad, fries and coleslaw were great. My wife's Otisco Cobb (like a chicken salad )was equally excellent. Service was prompt and attentive. Drinks served within 3 minutes of sitting down and dinner was also fast with delivery within 15 minutes of ordering. The band had to play inside because of rain. This place is amazing! I just hosted a bridal shower here yesterday (and have been here two times prior as well) and I must say that the food and service were incredible all 3 times. We had numerous shower guests compliment the scenery, service and food. Many of which said they will be returning to enjoy the atmosphere! The shower had a wine theme and the manager. Mary Anne extended her extensive wine knowledge during the shower and it was a huge hit. As matron of honor, I am happy that the shower was a huge success as well as having one very happy bride. We visit this place at least 5-6 times over the summer each year and it still just stays blah. The philly cheese steaks are dry. Fried fish sandwiches that were not cooked on the inside.The pizzas are never cooked through and drowning in average cheese so you just feel like you are eating a ball of dough. Service from the kitchen is slow, so expect a wait. The first year seemed to be the best with owner the floating around and double checking on things. Terribly disappointed on meal and service. Took over an hour to get our burgers and when they came out were cold and undercooked. Chicken was thick,cold and tasteless. To Mary Anne Stella, My wife & I arrived yesterday around 430 pm, our first time visiting your restaurant.   As we entered we observed at least 4 girls chatting around the hostess table. They seated us in the dining room, front right corner table. We noticed immediately on the window sills dead flies on both deck side and lake side,,,made me wonder about the 4 staff chatting out front. We were the only party inside at this point.   Our ice water arrived, my glass had black slime on the ice, as I was getting it out with my finger, Greg , our waiter came from behind.. saw me and immediately took and replaced the glass.   Greg then took our order, lobster mac and cheese for my wife, strawberry vinegarette dressing on the salad.. was told you don't have it- was on the menu ..,, and I had a steak, peppers and onion sandwich, minus the mushrooms.   Greg brought our food and we started eating.    My sandwich was very salty and there were mushrooms, I picked a large one out. My wife was struggling with the lobster, and then Greg noticing, he brought a cocktail fork. Not sure why the chef decided to salt the sandwich as with the flavors of the whole thing it would not need it. And the lobster, never seen it tough to navigate before, usually the fall right off the shell.    A couple people told us it was a good place to eat, that is why we came.
