Fun tasting room with interesting and unique wines. Winding down a long hot day of tasting in Edna Valley, we opted to visit a tasting room near the ocean, I mean why not? Staff was quite friendly and invited us in for a tasting near the end of the day. I can honestly say their wines are quite unique, likely due to soil composition and weather patterns in the area. With that said, their wine is approachable and quite affordable. We ended up walking away with a few bottles in the end as they were quite delicious! Wish we could get some of their wines up north locally, but this just means I need to return at some point! read more

First of all the decorations in this place are beautiful! I love the brick wall and the dark paint. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. We came here to have a glass of wine before our table was ready at the restaurant across the street. We ended up buying a bottle of the offspring which I still think about. This is our second visit here, I'm disappointed! We came in with a group of 9 girls. It was not busy it was just us and no one else, and a couple of girls asked to do wine tasting and she said no you had to make reservations before! I ordered a bottle of wine and we left! I wandered in here after a day at the beach because we had to park rather far away in order to avoid paying. Since I was parked out front, I checked inside. The staff are very courteous and helpful, I tasted some wine and they even poured me a serving of wine that wasn't on the menu. The orange wine was my favorite of the bunch but they were all quite good, especially if you like a drier wine. The interior is nice, there's seating at the bar and also scattered around and in the back. We stopped by for bit of wine tasting and what a cute spot! The ladies behind the bar were very friendly! Tasting is $15 but the fee is waived if you buy a bottle. We were going to do a tasting flight, until we spotted a Rose in the menu. Rose being my favorite we asked if we could try it and it was very good! Dry and not too sweet with hints of strawberry in the nose. Sold! Oh and the best part it is a steal at $13 bottle! Yes, that is not a typo!! We visit the one in Pismo often because of its close proximity to our house and it also on the way home from work. So how best to battle a long day?? Easy - grab a tasting then drown it away with a bottle of great wine. It will make you forget about the day :) Their Rose is a perfect summer days wine while their Prophetess is a great red to ease into to the night with. I was excited to see a new tasting room in Pismo. However the server was horrible, hence the 1 star rating. A tasting room is a place to taste wine, learn about it and enjoy. Our particular server rushed us through the entire experience. Pouring tastings less than 5min apart from one another. Ignored our request for water so we could cleanse our palette in between tastings. I've been to several wineries and wine tasting rooms and this was a really bad experience. My husband did like the wine and actually bought two bottles which I wasn't happy with because I was so displeased with our server. read more

From thoroughly detailed emails describing the story behind each new wine to the pick up parties and occasional mailed gifts.. plus the tasting menus are great! Bring yourself plus a few guests for a complimentary tasting, and 20% off bottles. They offer a few ranges of wines. The Groundwork label is reasonably priced (Chardonnay, Viognier, Rosé, or Grenache under $20), and other tasty bottles range up to $50 (my favorite being the Transcendentalist). Locally made meat and cheese plates available for sale from Fromagerie Sophie ($16?) and they're always open to bringing outside food in. read more

Nice selection of wines (not the usual suspects) and fun, comfy vibe in the tasting room. The staff were stellar, and very helpful. My girlfriend and I visited Sans Liege twice in the past couple months and it's a cool spot to stop in if you're in the area. The wines are modestly priced & easy drinking. They offer blends and single varietal expressions of rhone fruit sourced from around the central coast, that are lightly extracted and not overly oaked. What I find most appealing are the unique and harder to find grapes, such as a carbonically-macerated blend of picpoul blanc & picpoul gris that's as much a green tea as a white wine, and a fizzy dry muscat... but my reason for coming back in was to purchase more of their varietal counoise released on their less expensive Groundwork label. It's an uber-light bodied red that drinks well young. It's served chilled and clocks in at 11% abv... it's got a nice pepper & red fruit flavor, in a style reminiscent of the Cote du Rhone Nouveau but devoid of perceptible tannin. It's a nice wine for a weeknight (like the vino version of a session IPA) or to share with someone that usually doesn't drink red wine. It's also a great value at $20 a bottle. I bought six to share with my dad who tends to like his zinfandels white and his wine boxed! They're currently allocating their bottles to wine club so the tasting flight was 3 whites and 2 reds, same wines as a month ago. I'd prefer less than one white and mostly reds, but I'm told they'll change it up once their wine club shipment goes out. Amanda was our host today and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. When we got to the door there was a sign saying they would be closed Wed/Thursday for Thanksgiving but they let us come in and taste anyway. Loved this!! We tasted 6 from each "menu" and they were very different and delicious. I'm not a huge red fan however their red's where very good. read more

On Sunday, January 29, our group of six visited this place based on a recommendation by staff from another winery. The tasting room was bright, airy and clean with a cheerful gal pouring and a tame dog (Kota, who, after permission from his owner, liked chewing on our empty water bottles). Stopped by here on our way to Santa Barbara. Got a bottle of rose to share amongst a group! The wines are all excellent! They have two different labels, a more affordable (but still good!) and a limited production, higher tier wine label. They are also dog friendly! Having stumbled upon the Offering wine (red blend) at a wine bar while visiting friends in Chicago, my husband and I just had to stop by the Sans Liege tasting room on our drive back to San Francisco from Santa Barbara. While not unexpected, we were very happy with most of the wines we tried. Particularly happy with a couple of the whites we tried (Cotes du Coast was our favorite, followed by the Call to Arms). Of the reds, we really enjoyed the Transcendentalist, which is a blend of three different vintages (2011, 2012, and 2013). The tasting room itself is very cute and the service was spot on. The price point on these wines is also very good, with most of them falling in the mid $20's to low $30's. read more
