The outside is a little plain but the inside is a vintage dream yet with every modern convenience you need. We happened to call last minute and the owner met us there in 10 minutes and explained the history of the house. She and her husband bought it and restored it back to its original beauty. There's a photo album of everything they did to restore the house and the antiques she purchased for the rooms are stunning. Can't say enough about how cool this house is!

This motel wasn't the first one I checked on, but it turned out to be the best choice. The owner/proprietor and his wife were incredible hosts. They must live on-site and were seen diligently maintaining the upkeep of the property. To my surprise, they asked if I wanted a smoking or non-smoking room. Thought this was a part of a bygone era. Surprise! Of course I wanted a smoking room as I had brought along a few cigars. (They were thoroughly enjoyed in the comfort of my room.) The rooms were very clean and well-maintained. Even though the hotel doesn't offer breakfast, they did have a coffee set-up in the room. In addition, Granny Clarks restaurant is right across the street for lunch and/or dinner. If I'm ever in the area again, hopefully under better circumstances next time, I won't hesitate to stay here again. Oh, did I mention the rate was $50 a night? What a deal! Please stay here and tell the owner I sent you.

The hotel had been recently updated we walked in and it was clean and the 2 beds nicely made. First thing I did was pull back sheets and blankets making sure no bugs. Yay no bugs. The sheets were clean and beds comfy. The staff was friendly. I spoke with the managers grandfather and thought at first he was being rude. The next morning the next lady who works there explained he barely understand English and speaks it. So I felt like a jerk assuming. any ways I'm staying here again when we visit my husband grandfather. Btw we switched room the chain was broken and there was a dead spider in the first this is where I encountered the older man who I thought was rude. The ac also wasn't very cold. But the 2nd room was great.

Which explains the overall musty smell of decay in the room. I was able to kill four of roaches. They all emerged from under the bed, which resulted in a sleepless night. When I brought it to the attention of the front desk early the next morning, they said that, when they receive cockroach complaints, they move customers to one of their double-sprayed rooms. Because they know of the infestation! I then read previous reviews and found many, many similar complaints. After my stay, I gave honest feedback in the checkout survey. They offered a 10% discount as an apology on my next stay. I will never stay there again.

There was a HUGE crack across our window that was TAPED with packing tape as a solution and the bathroom door wouldn't close or lock. There was also a huge patch job on the ceiling by the window like it had previously leaked. The lobby and hallways were hot and NONE of the ice machines worked. I'm pretty shocked at how this room looked. Very disappointed!!

We were shocked when we arrived to find the property completely vacant. There was no staff anywhere, and we were left to navigate the property and locate our rooms on our own. We eventually found a sign in the bar instructing guests to text for assistance. We were later told that the person who made our reservation had been informed that staff would be leaving at 5:00 p.m. and that we would need to self-check-in. Even knowing that, what we experienced was completely unacceptable. There is a tremendous difference between being told you will self-check-in and arriving at a hotel that feels entirely deserted, with no staff present and two women expected to stay alone in an otherwise vacant property. As two women traveling alone for work, we did not feel safe. The accommodations and the overall situation were unsettling enough that we ultimately chose not to stay. What is most disappointing is that this is presented as an upscale boutique hotel. We simply cannot understand how operating a completely vacant property with guests staying overnight can be considered an acceptable hospitality experience--or how the safety and comfort of guests are being addressed. This was our first experience with this hotel, and unfortunately, it will absolutely be our last. What should have been a comfortable and enjoyable stay turned into a stressful and upsetting experience for us and, more importantly, for the clients who had trusted the hotel with our accommodations. We would never stay here again, and based on our experience, we certainly cannot recommend it to others--especially women traveling alone.
