Today since it was a State Holiday I knew Banks are open because they follow Federal Holiday. I headed down to Central Pacific bank Kahala branch . I needed to order another Debit card . Always friendly customer service got to the window and didn't get the teller name but she was very helpful I explained that I needed another Debit card she replied no problem it will take only 5 mins because they print the cards right there which I didn't know . When she was done I asked her what was the exchange rate for Japanese Yen . She said it was at 145. So any Yelper planning to go to Japan that's the going rate as of today . This branch is located in Kahala Mall on the same side as Whole Foods. My dad always had an account here and one of our businesses are with them too. They were so easy to work with which is my partner and I opened our business checking with CPB. The reason I opened up a personal savings account is for a couple of reasons. 1St. it was so I could buy yen at a better rate than other banks as well as money changers. If you have an exceptional account which is 10k or more, they wont charge you transaction fees and you get a better exchange rate which for Yen is around 3 yen less than the daily rate is. 2nd reason is that their accounts are better in the sense the interests they pay is better than my other account and 3rdly the people are friendly and you feel warm and welcomed. The parking is free and the lines are usually short and the service is pretty quick as well. I am going to keep my account open here and might even open some CD accounts as well. read more

I had been banking at CPB Kahala ever since they opened this branch. As every check I received went directly into my checking account I had no cash with me. In February, 2026 I went to withdraw some cash from my checking account. The manager hounded me with questions as to why I wanted to withdraw cash. My bank statements shows that every check I received went directly into my checking account so I have no cash on hand. She hounded me so badly that I left without being able to withdraw any cash. I went to another branch and was able to withdraw a little bit of my own money from my own account. Next morning I tried to deposit some checks I received from investments, rental income, etc. I could not deposit the checks, then found out that they had closed my checking account that I had for almost 30 years. I was accused of trying to STEAL MONEY FROM MY OWN ACCOUNT. This is causing me a great deal of problems as I had all my income automatically deposited into this account. I suggest that people close their accounts with CPB as they are a crooked bank. read more

Slowest customer service from all the branches I've been to. 3-4 customers in line with 2 tellers. One teller helping a customer the other teller ignoring the line of customers as she types on her keyboard, no greeting, no "Hello, I'll be with you in a moment ." No managers came out to assist. I spoke with the manager and told me about wire transfer and then she said she wont open an account for me. Incompetent employees and useless accountant name Matt who can't even figure out their mistakes. How do you minus out a deposit rather than add it to the account and say my account was negative. Customer Service over the phone knew more than the tellers and accountant at this location. The sad part is that they refuse to acknowledge their mistake and try to turn it around and blame it on me. Poor customer service. Went in with problem on my statement and was told it would be taken care of. Turns out nothing was done on cpb part and problem still is there. Had to call a back east branch to handle my situation which finally resolved. Took 6 wks. When asked if this kahala branch left any messages or tried to resolve or work with the back east branch, no conversation was done. And why don't the mangers call back when left messages daily? Went to CPB today and the teller was so nice and helpful. Because all the customers seem to have great rapport with the tellers, my impression is that all the tellers have great customer service. I was there to do a little bank business but also to inquire about wiring money abroad. The teller who helped me was a young man. He was incredibly patient and gave me good advice and even double checked with me that I had all the necessary information and that I noted it correctly. I didn't catch his name but he's always very professional, has a slight accent and as I entered and faced the tellers, he was on my far left. I went to Kahala CPB and talked to the manager about international wire transfer and inquired about the process. I told her that I was waiting for a wire from HSBS Hong Kong to Bank of Hawaii and I wanted to try CPB so I asked to open a savings or checking account and she refused. I requested an international wiring. After more than a month, they returned the fund since they couldn't wire the fund. This is 2023... A bank can't process a simple wiring??? There were no follow ups. I had to constantly ask for updates. There were many errors on the transfer request form made by the tellers. (I wonder whether it's the Kahala branch tellers only or other CPB bank tellers are equally lousy.) I'm glad I waited and tested out this bank before deciding whether to make it my main bank. The location is convenient as I can stop by while I get my coffee or lunch at Kahala mall. However, I don't recommend this bank to be your main bank. It lacks accuracy and dependability- two things that you need in a financial institution to manage your money. Now I understand why I see other customers getting upset and making comments to the tellers. I don't blame them. I was able to transfer funds using my other bank. Let me start this review by disclosing, I do not typically conduct business at this branch, but given the Covid closure of several other convenient locations, my choices albeit, were limited. I had filed a claim dispute with Griselle(sp?) over a fraudulent charge on my debit card, and was issued a "generic" replacement card on the spot. Paperwork was signed off and I also ordered an additional set of checks. Up until that visit, I had put all thought aside, resumed my daily routine and had assumed my concerns were addressed. To my surprise, upon recently reviewing my statements, nearly 2 months later, nothing has been resolved. No provisional credit, no follow-up--nothing. I made a visit to my branch (Waialae/Kaimuki) where all/most of my transactions are managed--the teller was very cordial and even gave me a call at the end of the day updating me of the situation, informing me that I should anticipate a call (within the next day) from the Kahala Mall branch manager Griselle (who handled my claim). That "call" was never delivered, and now it has been a week before I was finally reached out to. Aside from the status of my dispute, I have a plethora of unanswered lingering questions: -Why hasn't anybody from the Kahala Mall branch (at the very least) attempt to make a concerted effort to acknowledge/contact me sooner? -Was Griselle on vacation? -Was the Kahala Mall branch temporarily closed? -Is the consolidation and closure of multiple locations an early indication of the imminent future for CPB? In every instance, liquidating assets generally raises a "red flag" to me and is never a positive result. Unrelated story, although of much relevance to my dilemma--my wife also filed a dispute on her card (different LOCAL bank) during the same time, and had her case closed/resolved (in our favor) and processed within a day. I have been a loyal customer with CPB my entire adult life and have never felt this disappointed/dissatisfied/dismissed/disregarded and overall disgusted. This headache of an inconvenience negates all previous experiences I've had. Moving forward, the next decision came easy: close account/transfer funds and upgrade over to my wife's bank IMMEDIATELY (with strong emphasis). Lesson learned, and likewise I will advise my children when they are older--granted if this bank is still around. I am currently beyond fed up with this bank. Their mobile app was just remodeled into what i thought was going to be a more efficient mobile banking app. but i'm not even able to log in OR even reset my password the app will glitch. I thought it was a problem on my side so i has called and asked and they said they have been having problems with that which is understandable but not to mention their scheduled maintenance is not only a couple hours but a whole day. For someone who moves their money around a lot i do not suggest this bank. I Also have been having a problem with depositing money so I had called and spoke with the lady yesterday who couldn't even tell me if they were pending or if she could see it on her side. I frequently go to the Central Pacific Bank at Kahala Mall since the Kahala Times Branch closed down. I've always had great service with the tellers but this morning was different. As I walked towards the doors of the bank, the girl at the door had pressed the automatic door button to open the door. I told her that I needed to deposit money into my account. She said, yeah, and I can just go up to the teller and someone can help me. As I walked a few steps, another older lady abruptly came up to me and asked if i was 60 or older. I thought that was rude to ask because I obviously don't look that old (I'm in my 30s). I told her no. She told me that I need to leave because its kupuna hours, which I didn't know. The first girl didn't say anything. I felt embarrassed by the way the older lady spoked to me and I left. That older lady needs to learn how to deal with bank customers a little better. She needs to change her tone of language and she needs to learn how to politely say things like, oh im sorry but the bank is opened to kupunas only and please come back at so and so time when we open to all. She didn't have to ask if I was 60 or older. Whoever runs the bank needs to retrain this employee about customer service. One person can always ruin the image the entire company... ive never dealt with this kind of customer service from any bank or any where else. read more

I opened a business account here a few years ago. Since my business at the time was not doing very well, I wanted an account that would not cost me a lot of money to main. Central Pacific Bank has a good business banking account that is low cost so it fit my needs. The "catch" is that they nickle and dime you on everything if you only have the "cheap" account. You can't cash checks. They charge for notary service. I felt a bit like a second class citizen. But that, I guess, is the price for being thrifty on my part. The staff at this bank is always friendly and they generally don't have much of a line. They do have parking on the back side of the building. read more

One word: Scott. The kindest,most serviceable,handsome and attentive teller you will get in any branch of Central Pacific Bank in our beautiful STATE of Hawaii. Every single star of this review is for him. Why do I say this? Because I have the honor to know this guy since he started to work in Kahala branch and throughout all this years I have been close witness of the way he provides service to his costumers (because if you go to that branch,you will see a line of people waiting for him to be helped and he is the only one attentive to acknowledge them). I could tell you hundreds of stories of how he has helped people to make their banking transactions easier,efficient,on time etc etc,or some stories on how he saved some old coins for a kid's collection or how he is always attentive and sweet to costumers. How he has lost some elder costumers and sincerely mourned their death,or how he solves impasses or client's necessities while other tellers seem to be doing other things,other than being tellers,slacking to express it in english. Other tellers seem to have an attitude,and trust me,I have seen them all come and go,and none,I repeat,none remotely as excellent teller as Scott. I have witnessed how he remembers every single person and their names to make them feel familiar with the bank,how he really cares that people save time and sometimes money by making personal calls to remind them of important issues or tiny little details like dates etc. Every single day he wakes up and goes to work to provide the best service,and he reflects the values of Central Pacific Bank. Not in vain his cute face has been in advertisements of CPB.
