I finally got a chance to go here but sadly the food was eaten before I could get pictures . This bakery is about 5 minutes away from my house and I finally got a chance to go there this year. When we first walked in it smelled so good. The lady behind the counter was super helpful about what each item is, how it's made and the price. She was super sweet and also let me try a piece of their original cake donuts. We ended up getting "a slice of heaven" which is somewhat like a donut. It's a big breaded square with powdered sugar sifted on top, my boo got a fudge bark, which was surprisingly good, it wasn't thick like actual fudge and it wasn't too rich or chocolatey it was lowkey perfect boo ate it in 3 bites lol. Then lastly we got a cinnamon crunch which is also known as the elephant ear. I loved the cinnamon crunch too it was a pretty big size shareable for two. It was super thin, I do wish it was a little bit more puffy so it's not like toooo crunchy but the flavor was there. 10/10 will definitely be back for more goodies read more

This was the second stop on the donut trail, and we were able to park right outside the shop. Upon entering, I noticed the donut trail sign, which was a nice touch. However, the initial experience felt a bit unwelcoming. I wasn't greeted by the lady behind the counter, a gentleman entering from another door was. As I browsed the selection, a young man helpfully explained what the "uglies" were--old-fashioned donuts with an irregular shape. We decided to try the peach and cream pączki, a traditional Polish donut, but at $3.50, it felt quite steep, especially when compared to a regular jam-filled donut for under $2. Unfortunately, the pączki was a bit dry, and the filling was sparse. That said, we're still glad we gave it a try. How have I never reviewed Central Pastry? Forget the "uglies" and go for the best...the cream horns!!! My dad used to bring them home for breakfast and while I love all the donuts and cakes, nothing beats a Central Pastry cream horn! It has been difficult to navigate passed all the construction but I am grateful I can read a map because Waz and Apple didn't show how to navigate the closed bridge and closed roads. That was not going to stop me! If you are in Middletown, Ohio, forget the imposters and go straight to the best! Counter staff are always friendly and helpful. I tried to do the Butler County Donut Trail in the spring and started at Central Pastry. I went to four other shops and they were all closed. Stop on the Donut Trail: we rated 5 out of 5. We tried their suggested "Ugly" donut and Cinnamon Square. The Ugly donut is great with coffee, it's a thick and dense cake glaze donut. The Cinnamon Square was my absolute favorite! I might even go as far as saying it was one of my favorites on the donut trail. It was almost like eating an elephant ear, in the form of a donut. The donuts here were a little pricier than the other shops, they were $2.50 each (also bigger donuts too). So be prepared for that. They also prefer cash. I suggest in general you take cash to pay when you're doing the donut Trail, it's just easier if you're buying only a donut or two at each stop. It's the only donut shop with a mural in it painted specifically for the Donut Trail. So get your picture with it! Also, currently there's a ton of construction going on in front of this shop. The entire road is torn up so it may seem like you can't get to it. But they are open. read more

I tried Central Pastry while on the Donut Trail. Saturday morning of Father's Day, my husband and I decided to take our DT list and go around with our daughter and try most of the shops listed. This was one of the stops on the Donut Trail. One thing I liked about this shop is, it had a old school vibe. Meaning you knew it would be good and it's been around for awhile. They surely didn't disappoint. Also, the girls working the counter were very nice. The girl helping us also explained a few different of their most popular options. Her customer service was very good. While on the trail we only got one donut per shop. It may not sound like a lot, but it was definitely a fun donut overload! We stopped by 8 different shops in 3.5 hrs. Whew!! We ordered the Cinnamon Square from this location. From every location we tried something different. I enjoyed this donut. It seemed like an old classic for them and what I liked is it's unique to their shop. It's not a donut you will find at every donut shop. It was soft, big, and fluffy! It was topped with a Cinnamon Streusel and powdered sugar. It was different from what I usually go for at a donut shop but I enjoyed it. A few years ago I went there to buy a birthday cake for my husband's 50th. I was new to the area and the place was highly recommended by neighbors. An older foreign sounding lady took my order, but because I wanted to pay with a check, she wanted to question my integrity and whether I was trying to rip them off! My second stop on the Butler County Donut Trail is here. This is what I would call your general bakery. They have plenty of everything, alongside donuts. I got a chocolate glazed yeast donut, a caramel glazed cake donut, and a cinnamon square. Both the yeast and cake donuts were good and the cinnamon square, is what I'll call, an abundance of cinnamon. It's basically a donut with glazed and pound of cinnamon on top. I won't complain, because I love cinnamon, just quite the overload of sugar there. Still, this seemed like a good place just to get a random dozen donuts. Support your local bakeries! read more

I cannot imagine a world where the people of Middletown do not put 10,000 5-star reviews up for Central Pastry. I understand that Middletown itself isn't the sexiest place in the world to review, especially not the old part of downtown, but Central Pastry is a fixture in this town since 1949. The place smells like heaven. The treats are good enough to make a grown person cry. The service is as friendly and homegrown as it gets. I get home to the Cincinnati area about once a year, more for years with weddings, funerals, births, etc. My wife is a born/bred Florida girl, but she likes me to get home when I can. I come up for Bengals games or sometimes just because I get a little homesick. While I call "Cincinnati" home to most of the world... I spent a lot of my youth in Middletown. I have a circuit of things I like to see/do/eat in SW Ohio... and one of those things is Central Pastry. It's insane! I see some of the same people working there that I saw when I was going to Vail and would sneak over for breakfast before school started. The shop is small. The décor isn't very sexy at all.
