I see Dr Heather Thompson at Central Phoenix Eye Care and it is always a positive experience. I feel like I'm getting the best care available from the staff here because they are always so thorough. I'm diabetic and they go out of their way to be sure they always check for early signs of eye damage which, thankfully, have not presented at this point. They also send annual reports to my primary care physician so they've really become a part of my whole health care team. Last year when my mother visited us she was having some problems with the pressure in her eye. She's diabetic as well and she suffers from eye damage as a result. Dr Thompson made time to see her and check the pressure in her eyes to confirm that the medicine she was using was working properly and that the pressure was returning to a normal level. This is my second time going to them for an eye check up and never had a problem with them. My recent visit was excellent, with little wait to see the doctor. Dr. Stephanie Mastores was great, she was friendly and very helpful. They have this automated text that they send you before your appointment to make sure you are still coming. After you answer to the text, they send you another one with a link to a web page so you can create a patient's profile. You have the option to not create one but I recommend you do. The reason is because you get to fill out the same paperwork that the eye place gives you before you get to see the doctor. However, this one is online and you can do it at the comfort of your home and the best part is that next time you need to fill out the forms, it will be save to your patient's profile and the check in process will be much faster. Also, when you get to the eye place you will only need to sign a paper and that's it. No more waiting at the stuff to put down your information or having to come a little early to get the paper work done! Overall this place is great! read more

I've been going here for years, but I think I'll be changing. I went in for my annual exam a few weeks ago. I wear bifocals: 1 pr for reading/computer and 1 pr for driving/reading (dashboard). When the exam was done I asked, "Oh so I only have prescription this year?" She said, "Yep". Ok, I get it our eyes change. I had selected a frame and got my prescription. A week later I get a call that my glasses were ready! Whoa! The left eye was weird, but I said I'd give it a few days to adjust. There was still distortion and I couldn't see the computer so I called and made an appointment. I took my laptop in and the optician said these glasses weren't for computer use! I was confused because I was led you think I only needed one pair of glasses. They scheduled another appointment for 1/25. When I see the doc I told her I wasn't happy and said that I sent 2 frames to an online service. So now I'll have 3 pair of glasses for driving only! Her response was so cavalier! She said, "Well at least you didn't get 5!" I was floored and didn't have a response. We continued with the exam. I got a new pair of frames and the prescription. I will never go back here again! Great staff, friendly and knowledgable Doctor, excellent selection of frames and what looks like the latest eye care technology on site. I ended up arriving 10 minutes late because I had difficulty finding the location (note, it's in an office building, no signage from the main street) and the staff was very accommodating,got me started within a few minutes. Thank god you no longer have to use the thing that puffs air into you eyes. That alone was brilliant! I like that I was provided new patient forms online but I believe all their online information and steps require a bit more clarity. For example, I didn't realize I would receive those forms online and downloaded the PDFs from their site to print and fill out. I also think there should be an option to book on the site (I didn't see anywhere) and download to your calendar. Those are minor things though! read more

I had a very good experience here. The doctor was pleasant and professional. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. I was given a very complete Eye exam. I only gave four stars because they did not have a very good selection of eyeglass frames. No problem I just took my prescription somewhere else. I was shocked at the place I went to to get the frames because they were so much cheaper for the same quality. I would definitely recommend going here for an eye exam but if you're looking for eyeglass frames I believe you can get them so much cheaper elsewhere and at a better selection. Thanks to all the Yelpers who guided me in the direction of Central Phoenix Eye Care! I was thrilled with my visit. Now, this review is somewhat biased because I feel that an eye appointment is one of the few health-related appointments that doesn't instill fear and frustration. I mean...your eye doctor isn't going to tell you that you have high blood pressure or pubic lice (not saying mine ever has of course...). But that being said, I still had one hell of a good experience at Central Phoenix Eye Care. I was greeted by friendly ladies at the front desk, taken through a round of eye inspections by some helpful eye nurses (or whatever they'd be called), and was warmly taken care of by the lovely Dr. Heather Thompson. Because I'm a bit of an idiot sometimes, I totally forgot my contact prescription. No one complained and they easily found a prescription that fit me perfectly. I had great insurance coverage here (which is saying a lot with my crappy coverage!) and I was sent out the door with tons of free samples of contact solution and eye drops. I will be recommending Dr. Thompson and the rest of Central Phoenix Eye Care's staff to everyone I know. They were awesome and I will definitely be back! read more

I have been going there for a few years. It total I have purchased 6 pairs of glasses with them and spent about $3000 total just on eye wear alone. The sad thing is that two different times they have ordered me the wrong frames. This last time, the technician ordered me the wrong color and design of frame, I let him know it was wrong and he was extremely unresponsive. I had attended a demo show at the store and bought three hi end frames being displayed. The styles were limited so I asked the technician to call the vendor back directly and send over a couple of photos of the demos so I could choose the correct one. He suggested I go online and find ones they might be able to call in and have me drive back to see. I let him know that I help manage a company and that taking time of work to repeatedly come back and look at frames during week days wasn't a really good option. The technician didn't want to help me find the correct frames I originally ordered. He suggested I take time off during a work day to come and meet with the glass rep. on Friday. Again, I explained leaving work during a workday, for a third visit to them for the same thing was not really effective for me and that if he could just take some photos and text or email them to me, I could verify the frame style from this. He was not willing to help me at all and suggested I just take a credit on my account to use at a later time. When I requested they release my medical records to me, the practice sent me an email referring to my medical records being attached, but actually sent no attachment. I followed up with two emails back over 5 days requesting they send the attachment, but no one ever responded. The front office staff has always been amazing, it just seems the guys running the glass frame ands contact ordering portion of the business are quite lacking in their customer service and follow through. read more

I need to order some more contacts, but it seems my prescription only lasted for a year... so I have to get a new eye exam... so I called Central Phx Eye Care, among others. They want $175 for a contacts eye exam... highest quote I've gotten so far... just an FYI So I called Target... long story short, they said come right over, an hour later the exam was over, they confirmed my prescription, acted just as professional as any other eyecare facility I've ever been to (and I've been wearing contacts since 1975)... charged me $95... and I can buy my contacts online at half price now. FWIW, COSTCO was $79 for the same thing, but they didn't have a doctor to give me an exam for another week. read more

The best eye doctor facility I've ever been to. They were so thorough I was astonished. Staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. They take Federal spending account cards. They utilized computer imaging to look into my eyes which was just amazing to look at while he explained the health of my eyes. When asking about eye surgery because I'm slightly vain, he went over the benefits and effects and we determined it the benefits did not out weight the effects as my correction needed is not much. Nice change from other places trying to sell everything including the kitchen sink. They also had an upgrade in the glaucoma test, no more puffs! We ordered contacts and with my insurance my portion was reasonable. They even offered to mail my contacts if it was more convienent for me. Dr Kantor was funny and spoke to me as an intelligent eye care patient. Then at the end he thanked me for choosing him, asked for my continued business and stated that if I liked the service I received to refer him to my family and relatives. I'm officially a customer for life. Lastly there was no dialiation test where you cant see anything for hours. Thanks Central Phoenix Eyecare! read more

I remember walking out of my eye exam thinking 'Wow I had a lovely visit!'. How crazy is that thought coming after an optometrist appointment?! Dr. Mastores was so friendly and informative (and bonus, she gave me lots of samples).
