The situation was visible to teachers and staff, yet we as parents were never informed about what was happening. Instead of protecting a child who was clearly struggling, the school allowed the behavior to continue and left him to cope with it on his own. What is most concerning is that while our son suffered the consequences of this bullying, the students involved continued to receive recognition and rewards, with no visible accountability for their actions. A school's first responsibility is to provide a safe and supportive environment for its students. In our experience, this school failed to meet that responsibility.

Their outdoor space and playground for the prek3 and older students is fantastic too (lots of swings and slides!) and I always felt my kids were getting such a great mix of education as well as fun outdoor time at school. Utilizing sensory bins, painting, motor room, etc. my kids have enjoyed so many fun and educational activities at this school. We have had excellent teachers for the past 4 years we have been here! Even with a child with food allergies I felt very supported by the staff including her in snacks/activities and checking in with me occasionally when needed to make sure she could be included. Even more recently St. Peter has allowed students to bring their own snacks in to accommodate the many food allergies children have nowadays. Ms. Cummins by far has been the best teacher we have ever had. She updates parents daily through the school's app (which not all teachers do!) and I always feel that I know what my child is doing at school by her fantastic communication. Anytime I have questions about something and email her she gets back to me immediately. My family has been so lucky to have her for 2 of our children. She is the most passionate, knowledgeable and caring teacher. Both of my children have learned SO much and grown by being in her class, I will forever be grateful! I would highly recommend this school to anyone in Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs of Chicago area.

Both my boys had the same 2's teacher since that's how St. Peter does it. We have been so happy and blessed and honestly this teacher is as wonderful as they come. An absolute blessing. I was actually surprised to see another review as we had the exact opposite with that teacher. Mrs. Cummins is honestly a blessing and one of the most amazing teachers. She is the reason we never considered any other option for our second child. She has embraced all the difficulties he has had in this being his first exposure to school. She is openly communicative with all the parents and kids and I can speak for the other moms in the class as well we feel we hit the jackpot with her. When any issues arise she discusses them and works with us to find a solution that best fits our child, us and finally her. Our older son has Mrs. Grissom this year and he is thriving because of her. She treats the kids with kindness, love, and teaches them confidence. My older son was always more nervous in the school settings but she has really helped him blossom. Not only are the preschool teachers amazing but the staff is so incredibly kind and loving. They know your kids by name and ask how everyone is doing. Feeling this level of care has kept us at St. Peter. You can choose anywhere for your child to go but St. Peter has always been accommodating and caring.

There were a few major factors that played a role in our decision to choose St John the Evangelist: 1) Class size: Last year, our son's kindergarten class was the first year they split into two classes instead of a single class and it helped in making class sizes that were already comparatively small, even smaller. The amount of attention each individual student receives is incredible! 2) The Principal was a delight in our interview process and has been an administrator and teacher in Catholic Schools for quite some time. She personally gave us a tour of the school, invited us to sit in classrooms to examine teaching styles (we visited multiple grades, not just the kindergarten). She is determined to get the best out of her staff and our children each day. She is extremely approachable and available to us, as parents, with any questions we have. 3) Our family's Catholic faith was a big reason in choosing to educate our children through SJE. It is truly inspiring to see our children grow in mind, body, and spirit simultaneously. We are truly grateful that our Catholic Tradition is integrated in their educational upbringing. One of the many success stories that we have with our son from last school year is that he was already reading beginner books by himself after just a couple of months of Kindergarten. I couldn't believe my ears when he started reading to me; it concreted our decision even further. Now that we are armed with our own experiences of St John the Evangelist, we wouldn't hesitate doing this all over again. We highly recommend anyone considering a private education in the area to put SJE on their short list of institutions for consideration. It is a blessing to know our children are getting the best of what the teachers and administrators have to offer every day.

Stumbled across St Johns. Ironically I used to attend St Johns back in the 90s. Sounds like nothing has changed. At the time I was the ONLY black student in the entire school. k-8. I felt like more of an attraction than anything. Definitely felt like the teachers were all harder on me than my peers. Mind you, I have never been a troubled kid, nor a bad student. I was considering allowing my children to go there but thanks to Lady L, I think I will pay more for another school rather than subject them to the type of scrutiny and racism I endured while there.

And then she tried to write a nice description of how GB is growing the kids as a whole, academically, blah, blah. But the truth is they are not teaching the kids anything and the kids are falling behind the district in test scores. The teachers (Fortman and Adams) are so lazy and Bingaman doesn't do anything about it. How can they are growing the kids if they are not teaching them the basics in math, reading, and science. And then there is Bingaman's attitude of, 'Oh, I am the principal so I don't need to talk to the parents or the students'. I have never seen her trying to say hi to the students or any parent at any school event. So awkward when the parents try to avoid her. But really, I don't really care about this BS. I feel sorry for the kids who will struggle in middle school.

Super great Kindercare. We transferred to this location to be closer to home and have been very…read morehappy. The process to transfer was painless; I didn't have to set up my auto payments again or anything. My child was warmly welcomed and had a very nice transition to the new teachers and new program (he graduated to toddlers). He is always very happy when he returns from Kindercare, always blowing kisses to his teachers, and seemingly having fun exploring the room when I arrive to pick him up. The center provides a nice, well rounded daily menu, as well as a structured curriculum for the children. During the summer they have "water days" where the classroom goes to play in the water on hot days. My son really enjoys it. The teachers are great, warm, friendly, and well educated/experienced in understanding the world from a toddler's point of view. Also, the center director and assistant director are wonderful. They are experienced in their profession and run a smooth operation. They are always attentive and strive to ensure that the children are happy. My child is very happy and so am I. :)
