This place has charmed its way into my heart. Before coming to RIT, I mainly top roped off and on…read morefor about a year with my bf - quite a feat for someone terrified of heights. One of the only reasons I kept going was because I was halfway decent at it. That being said, I'd only ever been to one gym (Planet Granite, San Francisco) and a small handful of outdoor spots. The first time I walked in I was dismayed that only the bouldering section was open and that that the majority of the climbs were on plywood. Not having extensive experience, I was certain that my shoes wouldn't be able to grip and that I'd slip and fall to my doom. During this first time, I also witnessed a girl fall and sprain her ankle badly enough that the school medics had to be called. I made a mental note about how professionally and quickly the gym handled the situation should I ever be so unlucky. After climbing nearly twice a week since January, I love this gym. I love how it has no heat (nice and empty when it's only 15 degrees outside!) and that I can't find the difficulty labels for most of the problems (who doesn't love a challenge?). A lot of the routes feel reachy to me, but that's probably a function of me being short and climbing weird. It doesn't smell as crazy as other gyms but we'll see once it starts warming up. The absolute best part is that it's only $20 a quarter for students. Can't beat that price! I'm looking forward when to when they open up the second floor - anyone need a belay partner? :D

Cool bouldering place. Very simple place but serves its purpose: bouldering. Lots of bouldering…read moreopportunities/levels there!

It's a small community bouldering gym but a much bigger facility than it looks in the pictures!…read more Very open air facility with a giant ceiling fan and open garage door, which really helps during the summer. Super friendly staff and there's a local community feel to the gym, which is a huge draw. Also, they have a ping pong table, and a stretching/fitness area upstairs with 2 power racks, a fan bike, and a Tension board (if you're looking to mix things up) There's free gravel parking, and plenty of space (unlike Collegetown...)

If you have toddlers age 1-3 make sure you get in the mailing list for there Toddler Time Events…read more Finally an activity for toddlers at an appropriate time. Drive me nuts that kids events don't start until like 10 so was so excited that Cayuga Clinbs Toddler Time is from 8:30 to 9:45 it's the perfect time for a kids activity. The space is great for letting kids runaround and try climbing. My daughter love finding the cow on top of one of the climbing wall every time we go. Sorry if no one else has found it since she doesn't let go of it easily once she finds it. It's reasonably priced $15 per toddler and you don't have to pay for the adults like you would a children's museum but you do have to watch your own kids. My twins get so excited to go, seriously one of the best events for toddlers in the area. Typically twice a month on Sundays but it does not have a consistent schedule so again get on the mailing list so you're informed when the next event will take place.
