Went back to Austin to visit old friends and wanted to pick up a couple of Tshirts for my brother and his wife. I drove all the way from Slaughter lane in Austin to Round Rock because of the good Yelp reviews on this dealership. I was closer to another Harley dealer but the negative reviews about them made me head north up I35 to Round Rock. No easy task considering I35 traffic. I pulled into the lot and was floored by the huge selection of bikes and had I been in the market to add to my collection.....I digress. I entered the store and was immediately greeted by Stephanie with a warm smile and exemplary customer service. I found that excellent customer service spilled over into my dealings with Kim as she assisted Stephanie with my check out. Had Kim not assisted Stephanie, I would never have guessed that Stephanie was a fairly new addition to the Harley crew. My positive experience with this dealership continued with a personnel tour of the store to include the service area and introductions to other staff. Every staff member that I met was very welcoming and their pride in providing top level customer service was very evident. *****WORST DEALERSHIP EVERY****** Took my bike for remap, was told one price twice. Work done was give a $100 more charge. Told the price I was given was just labor. They found something wrong with my bike while doing the work. I had to cordinate and work the warranty company to get the work done. Then I got yelled at by their CSM when I asked why I was doing their job. Wrote a letter to Corp, the owner of CTH calls me. Defends his employees like a protective mother. Never applogies, or anything. PROCEEDS to tell me that I have a twisted perception on reality and as long as I agreed to never step foot in his store we're on the same page. I was in the market for a 2105 FLHX, and tried to work out a deal with my trade. I felt as though they didn't want to work with me, and that I was getting the runaround so I was ready to walk ( I brought a lot of money for a downpayment even though I didn't need one ). Being a reasonable person, I gave Mikey a chance to find something in their inventory that would fit my budget. Lo and behold, he found a very gently used 2014 FLHX for a price that would fit my budget. Good save Mikey! When I used to hear the term "High Volume Dealership", I used to think that it meant "we make so much money that we don't need your business". I know now that it means: we can find you something. A word or two of advice: 1. Try to sell your bike to get what it's worth because the dealer will not give you what you want regardless of how many, or what kind of upgrades you make. The dealer didn't even come close. 2. DO NOT get suckered into what they call a V.I.P. service plan. It does not roll over to your next bike, and there is no rebate if you do not use it completely. If you roll it into your loan, you are paying for it with interest. Find an independent Harley certified mechanic who can do the scheduled maintenance at a much cheaper price i.e. Shamrock Motorcycles. IF I ever feel the need to upgrade, I will consider going back to see Gunny, and Andrew at Central Texas Harley Davidson. read more

This is for the service department. I had my bike in storage and it ended up being in storage longer than I had anticipated. I borrowed a trailer and brought the bike to CTHD to have it serviced. They did an enormous amount of work and had the bike finished, inspected, even detailed in the SAME DAY. That is exemplary for a dealership service department. I was driving in from about 2 hours out on a saturday..... I called ahead made an appointment for a demo ride. I arrived on time. I told a gentleman there I had an appointment. He told me the salesperson was with a customer and would be right with me. I was greeted several minutes later by a sales person. They told me they were busy and i would be passed off to another sales person... Not a problem right??? Well not so much. The sales person was not knowledgeable about the motorcycle I was interested in. For several questions i asked his reply was.... I will have to find out. He seemed to be getting tired of my questions and told me he had another customer waiting on him. I asked if I could demo a bike. He told me if I was buying today he would get me on one. Really???? I came to look to decide what I wanted..... I might have been a buyer. At any rate I told sales person i wanted to look around. I wanted to at least get a price on a bike before leaving. I stood around for a little.... Nobody asked if I needed help. I wandered by the "salesperson" that was supposedly helping me but apparently he had a customer already hooked. I have rode a Honda for the past 20 years.... Thought i wanted a change..... Maybe i'll get another Honda!!! I understand the place was busy. After riding my friends motorcycle I knew I wanted a bike. After work I walked into the dealership around 5 o'clock in the afternoon and was looking at the breakouts. Gunny, One of the salesman came up and help me out and asked if I had any questions. He was very professional and was not pushy. He answered all my questions thoroughly and I came back that weekend to do a test ride. Unfortunately the bike was a little out of my range at the time and the opportunity came up for me to buy my friends bike. If you are reading this review I want to let you know that gunny is the best salesman and will take care of you. If you are a veteran I would highly recommend you see gunny. neighbor asked to drive my 1200 sporty down the block and he sheared off my kickstand bolt on a speed bump. when i came in to ask to buy a bolt they told me i needed to buy a new frame, yeah no.i went down the street to some random shop and they fixed it for me in 20 minutes for 30 bucks, in short, f*** HD and their dealers, i am now back on a sport bike actual quotes in store " ive never seen a kickstand bolt sheared off" actually a very common problem. So this would be the second time I have taken my bike for a service here. I bought my '15 wide Glyde here and set up the Vip service plan. My dad is sick in Southern California so I came out here to help him out. They refuse to release my Vip so I have to bring my bike back to TX every service needed. Which is fine because I'm always going back and forth in my truck. It's the 10k service and there is oil leaking all over when I tried to ride it today. This is the second time this has happened. When I called them they took my name and number then didn't call back. Last time they told me to bring it back the 1300 miles so they could check it out. The experience was good. A little pushy sales but most people wouldn't notice. I like to take my time to think about my choices and I felt a little rushed. I did find a bike that I liked for the right price. The interest rate on the loan is a bit high, but it just means I need to pay the bike down faster. A few basics - do some research before you go in to help determine what style you are looking for. Try out as many bikes as you need to sit on them have the sales associate hold the bike for you. If it is your 1st bike review the total cost an extra 800 for gear at minimum 200-300 for a helmet. Plan it as an all day. It only took them about 4 hours from me walking in to me riding off. But I had my gear and knew which bikes i didn't want and gave a price point that was low enough to cancel out many bikes that would have slowed me down in looking. Once you have decided on a bike sit on it for a while and have a relaxing conversation. This will give you time to see how the bike will start to feel after sitting on it for long stretches. But it just took 20 steps into the Central Texas Harley-Davidson in Round Rock, TX, and an approach by salesperson "Gunny" to tell me about the story behind the 2017 Heritage Softail Classic that captivated my attention to get me to say in less than 6 minutes that I wanted to buy it (I actually came in just to buy a t-shirt!!!). Why now, why this dealership, you might ask? Simply put, Gunny did not SELL me the bike, he merely TOLD me the story about it, asked me about myself and my riding style, and the bike, its color, features and price sold itself. John in finance was amazing, kept me updated on the process (which takes about an hour from start to finish, including getting a quote for my Hondas and financing aligned within the range of what I was willing to pay), and before you knew it I was RINGING THE BELL!!! Richard dropped my new ride off to me today, and I couldn't be more pleased, trading in my two Hondas for this jewel. It's time to RIDE!!! I've never wrote a negative review for a business, but my hope is that sharing my story it will encourage change. I have a Road King Classic. I have two services experience's with Central Texas Harley Davidson in the last 14 months. The first in May 2011 was to address a very small oil leak, cracked muffler and high idol speed. To fix all three was going to be around $1350.00. Slow/small oil leak, according to CTHD service person, meant I needed to replace all the crank case gaskets ($400). The service person pointed out that the cracked muffler was a result of a bolt missing in a muffler bracket and mufflers need to be replaced ($400). High idol speed, I don't remember ($550). When I picked up my bike the charge was around $950, so I asked if everything was done, and I was told yes. I thought maybe I miss understood when I was given the prices over the phone. Actually, they didn't replace the crank case gaskets, luckily! A couple months later I took my bike to Texas Custom Choppers for an inspection, new rear tire ($230, this is important later) and to look at the oil leak CTHD forgot to do for $400. Picked up my bike for TCC and they said the oil leak was a loose bolt in the transmission oil box, which they just tighten up and no more transmission oil leak ($0.00). When I got my bike home from CTHD I looked to make sure the bolt in the muffler bracket, which according to CTHD was the reason the muffler cracked, was in place, and there was NO bolt in that bracket. I had to find a bolt and secure the muffler myself. My second experience was July 2012 for an oil change and inspection. Oil change pretty straight forward. I was told I needed a new rear tire in order to pass the inspection. A new tire was $430! I have replaced several tires for my bike and they were always around $220-$240 for Harley tires and install. I asked CTHD service person why so much and was told that, "the price of tires went up over the last year". July 2011 I replaced a rear tire at TCC for $230. I checked around and found a tire for $230 installed. I told CTHD to forget the tire I found one for about half their price. I was called back later by someone else and we agreed on a price of $250 to install the new tire (was $430, ended up being $250, both were new HD tires). I was told they would call when it was ready, this was at 10:30am. I didn't hear from them, so called at 6:00pm and was told, "it's been ready". I picked up my bike, got about a mile down the road and though I had better make sure the new inspection sticker was on. No new inspection sticker! Check my bill and I did pay for it. Went back and had to wait while they inspected my bike, which is 1 of 2 reasons I took it there in the first place, and why I bought a new rear tire. I drove off wandering what else didn't get done? Was my rear tire going to come off while I was driving down I-35? Did the oil really get changed? It sucks! If Texas Customer Chopper was still open I would have gone to them, but CTHD is the closest, most convenient option for me now. I love to ride, I love my Road King, and I take pride in the fact that my Harley was made in the USA, by a 109 year old US based company. Again, my hope is that someone from CTHD reads this and tighten things up there. read more

Will never ever step foot back in this store! Got a nice top for Christmas but was too big. Drove 50 miles one way to exchange it for a different size (DID NOT WANT A REFUND). The bitch who we spoke to immediately said " that's a sale item, all sales are final"! I explained it was a Christmas gift and I didn't want a refund just a smaller size. She responded "sorry" and flung her extensions at us and walked off as I stood there feeling like and idiot! This isn't my first bad experience but it will for damn sure be my last. Wow, I have never in my life of dealing with a business, met such a smug and ignorant manager. I made a previous review a few months ago about Central Texas Harley, which was 100% factual. At that time I decided I would not even entertain taking my bike there for service or buying a bike from then. However, some of their staff is friendly and we have purchased a few parts for my bike that are about the same price anywhere. Last week my wife and I went to Central Texas and ordered a chrome cup holder for my Electra Glide. I went in today to pick it up and also bought a windshield bag, had no issues. On my way out a couple sales people told me to have a good day and all was well. As I approached the door to leave, the manager I dealt with in the past was standing there looking at me and said something, I said, "Hello, how's it going?" and shook his hand. His next words were, "So, you left us a bad review?". I told him I did and told him that it was deserved for that past experience, but grow up, that was three months ago. He then asked me why I did not address it with them. After I informed him that I did address it with them and they had told me pretty much, "Tough, that is the way it is.", so I went to the next step and wrote a review of my experience. The next words out of his mouth are, "Well, the owner is pissed off about that negative review and we don't want you in here anymore." I was a bit floored that what is supposed to be a professional business is so petty and childish that if a customer has a bad experience and leaves a negative review(100% FACT), rather than trying to do better in the future, they want you out and to never return. After informing him that he he needs to grow some thicker skin and they can shove their business up their rear, I will be glad to shop elsewhere. He then wants to get in my face like he is going to put his hands on me, I told him to go F himself and his business and not to threaten me. At this point a salesperson tells me to leave and follows me out to my truck, telling me that I do not want to mess with Sean, he don't play games. Nice, they like to threaten people. After I left, I get a call from Round Rock PD, wanting my side of the story and when I told the officer what had taken place, he said that they want them to serve me with something to not return. I informed the officer that I could care less, if he wanted to serve me with that, he is more than happy to drive to my residence and bring it to me, but I am not wasting my time and driving back to Round Rock. I told him he need not worry though, that I would never set foot inside this place in my life and would be sure to inform everyone else I know what a great business they are. The officer said that was good enough for him and that was that. Could I have handled things better? Probably so, for my part, I should have just walked out, but to be honest I was blown away that a business like this will take one negative review and then verbally confront you at the door and act in a hostile manner. I f I could give 0 stars I would. This is my first review and I never usually bother but I am so upset of how I got burned by these thieves and liars at CTHD. I bought a pipe, tuner and air filter and dropped my bike off for 2 days. After getting the call that my bike was finished I had a buddy from Austin drop me off and when I walk in they tell me theres a problem and my bike is loosing coolant, Funny my bike has 6k miles and has never leaked a drop of anything, either way they told me that the coolant plug was all of aa sudden bad and needed to be replaced and would be next week to it could be fixed as they didn't have one. I told them that my ride dropped me off and I i had no way of getting back to austin and they needed to come up with a solution or let me take one of their bikes till mine was ready, they told me to sit tight astray would figure it out. 2 hours pass and finally they took one off there used bike and fixed mine. I was told that they fixed at there expenses lol. I get home that night, park my bike wake up sunday to a oil leak spill on my driveway coming from my airlifted. I pop the tank off to get to the air filter and immediately see the hose from the air box is snapped in and half and see oil everywhere. So i had to wait till monday to get it back in, call them and they say to bring it up. I pull in and show the service people and they say their not responsible for this and they see no way that their mechanic did this, i ask for the manager and this complete jerk with grey beard comes out looks at it and laughs and says your trying to blame us for this broken hose? I explained to him that I just spent over 2k the day before and had had the airfilrter replaced and now all of a sudden I'm leaking oil from the airbox and its clear that this happened when the mechanic was changing out the filter. This big fat pig started yelling at me and said they in now way would fix this on their dime. We went back and fourth for awhile and I finally gave up with this hot head. Now my bike is leaking oil and my air filter box is cracked. Please who ever reads this DO NOT EVER HAVE THEM WORK ON YOUR BIKE!! They have 3rd rate mechanics and will nickel and dime you for everything! $130 per hour for one of their awful so called mechanics? CTHD has lost a customer for life, I spend a ton of money on bikes and instead of doing the right thing they lost a future customer. I will never step foot in their building ever again. I should of read their awful ratings by all the rest of the yelp members. These guys should be shut down and locked up for ripping off there customers! If i had five minutes alone in a ring with that fat grey bearded manager i would stomp him till he was in a comma. read more

Let me start off by saying I have worked in an HD dealership and spent 10 years as a HD State Safety Coordinator. I spent a lot of time visiting HD Dealerships up and down the West Coast, Idaho and Nevada -plus wherever I might be traveling through. I have ridden motorcycles since I was 16 and 20 of those were on a HD. So I've seen a dealer or 2 but NEVER one as crappy as this one - hands down. In there to buy riding boots for the Mrs, lots of employees standing around talking, ignoring customers in the clothing section. Took 10 mins before someone finally arrived to assist. Hmm too busy laughing and joking with other employees to make a sale. Asked the wife if she was the driver(of the motorcycle) - ahhh, no you don't drive a motorcycle. You ride it or you're a passenger. Ok train your staff on how to speak the language. Picky? Yes- that is one of my pet peeves. So found boots - put them on hold, no prob. Walking out I decided to look at the accessory wall. Employee comes up and asks if he can help me. No just looking at the parts. Do you own a HD? I've owned a few. Is there anything in particular you are looking for? No, just looking. (couldn't find one when we needed a sales person - now this one won't go away.) Do you ride now? Yes. What do you ride? I ride brand x. Why anyone wanna ride THAT? Really, did he just say that to me? Me thinking: I have an American made motorcycle, larger engine with more hp and torque, more standard equipment(less out of pocket for add-ons) and 3k less than MSRP, which none of these bikes even came close to-prices 5-6k over because of some dubious parts and excessive labor charges. Remember I used to work at one and know pricing. So you probably shouldn't insult a rider's choice or put down another's brand to raise yours up. Me saying: shouldn't matter what you ride-you still get there on 2 wheels. Him: well I don't know if I agree with that! Fortunately, we didn't spend any $$$ there. I know I won't go back. I don't know about the negative reviews or the service department, but I had a VERY good experience with their sales guy, Pete. I went into CTHD expecting to be hit in the head with a Harley as soon as I walked in the door (bad experience from other dealers); however, I was pleasantly surprised when Pete walked over to see if I needed anything. I was in the market for a bike and had heard good things about them so I figured I couldn't lose, right? I started out with what I thought was the perfect bike for me (not knowing 'much' about Harley's) and after talking with Pete... well, I ended up looking at a totally different model than I had my heart set on-- he was right! Spot on. The bike I "thought" I wanted would not have fit "me" or my riding style. We walked around the showroom and Pete took time to explain a lot more about all the bikes on the floor (and the dealership was busy that day). Even though I wasn't able to buy at that time, Pete was very patient and knowledgeable and didn't mind sharing everything he knew. When I do buy a Harley, it'll be from Pete at CTHD. Everyone there was really friendly and it was a fun experience. In a nutshell: Pete was great and had a ton of patience with all my questions and flip-flopping from bike to bike. Never happened and I had to make an extra round trip from South Austin to pick them up. I have tried 3 times to get the shipping charge refunded but have gotten a complete runaround. They say they will call back but never do. On my inquiry today they directed me to call their accountant back on Monday so the credit can be applied to my card. This will be my fourth attempt. Went to Cowboy Harley Davidson and within 45 minutes deal was done for same amount offered to CTHD. Update 08/11/15: Pee Wee invited me to call and I did. We had a very pleasant conversation and I appreciated him taking time to listen. I filled him in on some background information going as far back as 2002 that I did not post. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt with 2 stars, since I'm wavering between a 1- and 2-star review. I recently bought a slightly used motorcycle from them. They get 2 stars because I do like the bike and it runs well. Now, for the cons... 1. I feel like I was baited and switched because I went in there after being told over the phone that the price on a NEW 2009 bike would be about $7.9k. We got almost ALL the way through the deal, then the sales man comes running up, he's so sorry, he feels bad, there's been a mistake, they forgot to include all the cool options in the price and the bike I want will actually cost about $11.5k. I had $500 to put down and my financing was approved for $9k. After I told him and his manager that this was bait and switch, the manager got hot with me and claimed it most certainly was not (methinks the lady did protest too much.) So I didn't get THAT bike...ended up buying a slightly used bike. 2. I wrote them a check for the $500 down, not realizing my credit union was planning to deduct my $500 down payment from my account. So Harley agreed they owed me a refund and said they'd mail me a check. It took TWO FULL WEEKS to arrive...from the dealership! (They're in Round Rock, I live in Austin, it does NOT take that long.) 3. The sales manager PROMISED he'd buy me an owner's manual for the 2010 used bike. It's been 5 weeks now...still no owner's manual. 4. Bought a luggage rack for about $145. Asked them how much they'd charge to put it on the bike for me. They told me with a straight face that it would cost about $100. I had it done myself by a mechanic for $40. 5. No, their service dept most certainly does NOT take appointments...instead, they want you to pay $3,000---yes, you read that right, THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS--to join their "VIP Club"...which entitles you to move right up the head of the line for instant service. Yeah, you have to bribe them. 6. Take a good hard look at their catalog---many nice paint jobs listed, and they all cost...you guessed it...THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! For a PAINT job!!! You could buy decent crotch rocket or very used Harley for that much money! In summary, I do love Harleys, and perhaps the bikes themselves aren't terribly overpriced, but BEWARE--every single accessory, part, service, or anything else associated with a Harley is VERY EXPENSIVE. HD doesn't stand for Harley-Davidson, it really does stand for "hundred dollars." Don't trust a single word they say, get any and all agreements IN WRITING, and if you make an agreement over the phone, get the person's name and document the call. And I agree, Cowboy HD south of Austin is probably a better dealership, although I hear they are even higher on their prices. read more

I have been a customer of CTHD for almost 15 years. I just picked up my 10th bike between my wife, son, and I. I have been through multiple ownerships and 3 locations. I continue to do my business there for a reason. The management genuinely cares about the customer experience. It is the nature of business that an entire establishment and team of 70+ employees can be judged by the customer's experience with one hourly or commissioned employee. I've been going to CTHD for 9 years now for almost all of my motorcycling needs and I've seen a lot of changes in that time. Currently I have been very impressed and satisfied with the customer service throughout all departments and appreciation shown by all the employees. Tyler, the current owner, is doing really well with the team at CTHD! Most recently I had an excellent experience in the service department with Chris one of the service writers there. I had decided to consider a stage 2 performance upgrade on my 2013 FLHTK. Between Chris and Mark L, the service manager there, I always feel like I'm in good hands. Myself not being very mechanically inclined I always look for explanations that help me make informed decisions. Both these guys provided excellent customer service while making sure I knew all the necessary details around what my options and their pros/cons were with the upgrade. I made my decision and was informed by Chris throughout the process. Chris has always exceeded my expectations with all of my service needs! Apryl in motorclothes is excellent! She always greets with a smile, listens and directs me appropriately for all my motorclothes needs. I have been able to count on her with confidence when I have specific requests. The overall motorclothes department level of customer service is excellent. Considering I was approaching the term of my current Extended Service Plan (ESP) I decided to add a few more years for my newly upgraded bike. After getting my bike back from the upgrade service, Chris got me connected with Johnny Love in Finance and bada bing bada boom I got the ESP that i needed after just a short exchange of information and I was on my way! I will probably buy my next bike here when the time comes based on reviews. Although I've heard from different sources they really hussle only during the selling process. I have brought my bike there for servicing several times. The experience has been mostly positive. I'd suggest dropping off your bike as they are in no hurry once its there. They do offer rentals for only 25.00 a day. Then again, for what they charge it should be included. Service / profit department. I brought my bike back today because of an oil leak. The problem is it was just in for a 30K service last week. That was $1000.00 So, I take it in and started to throw a small fit. The manager was good about it. He said we'll take care of it. He showed me the leak. Near the oil filter. There were two bolts, easy access to change a ten cent gasket. That was another $235.00 ! Holy crap! Seriously? I need to get a service manual and a set of wrenches. Tired of getting gouged. *update~ manager knocked off 100.00 from original estimate. Even threw in a bike wash coupon. :-) read more

I've had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Central Harley while making 2 purchases. Each purchase was as easy as it gets. The staff he has is pleasant and courteous and I've always been able to get through to someone when I call. All in all, price was reasonable, staff was courteous, transactions have been smooth and an service/support has been a breeze. Not what one would normally expect from a bike dealership. read more

This was the best experience buying a vehicle of any kind I have ever had. The sales staff didn't put any pressure on me and was so pleasant to talk to and down to earth people I could relate to. Really made you feel life a family member as soon as I walked in. Extremely knowledgeable and entertaining at the same time. Overall I can not recommend this dealership over the others in the area where their only interest is getting you on a bike whether you really like it or not. OK I have to post as there have been many negative reviews of Central Harley and they are most likely valid. I did however have a good experience. I went in for an inspection and they said I did not have enough tread to pass inspection. Correct, they could have quailfied as racing slicks at this point. They said the front break pad was way down and the back was fine (makes sense on a motorcycle) and sure enough I look and it was thin for for sure. they gave me a quote, did the work promptly and it actually came in less then expected. They were friendly and I have no complaints. There may be issues there but I have give them thumbs up. read more

First and foremost... Harley Davidsons are luxury vehicles, (wants, not needs) even though, those of us that have one or two or more might challenge this, it is what it is. So do your homework, research, yada, yada, yada.... BEFORE purchasing. This will save you ALOT of unnecessary complaining when you have to actually have to pay for repairs or maintenance of your HD. Yeah, just like your cage (car) you still have to pay for tires, oil, service, etc... I've purchased 2 Harleys from CTHD (Street Glide & Super Glide) and have enjoyed these bikes to their fullest capacity. In addition to the initial purchase, one must remember to research the other things a Dealership has to offer or should offer its customers, and its efforts in continual improvements in Service, Price, Selection, Motorclothes, and overall satisfaction of what a Dealership, you chose, brings to your life. After all, owning a Harley is a lifestyle, an attitude, and life changing event and should exceed your expectations. Well friends, CTHD does this. CTHD has a HUGE selection of Bikes, Motorclothes/Jewelry, and Parts/Accessories. If you can't find it, they have the resources to get it. CTHD also has awesome Bike Nights, great give-a-ways, concerts, vendors, a fantastic staff, and the best family/friendly oriented atmosphere. This is our first experience with this location and the service desk staff is friendly and helpful. Our disappointment lies with the customer service excellence end of things. When we go to Harley, we did expect a certain level of service that goes along with the price of service. We arranged ahead of time for pickup to ensure they would have the bike ready to ride. So having to wait an extra 30 minutes for cleaning and then having to wait again because they forgot to be sure the battery was fully charged, was just a bit frustrating. read more
