The sales and parts teams here are amazing. It was honestly a breath of fresh air - very laid back and chill environment. The service department is another story entirely. They had my brand new bike, which had issues straight off the showroom floor, for over a month. A MONTH. They called and told me everything they'd done to fix it. I picked it up, rode it around, and the issue was still there. When I went back and asked the tech what they'd actually done, he said they rode it around and it was fine. As far as I can tell, nothing was done except maybe balancing a wheel. The best part: when they did the oil and air filter service, they damaged the paint all around the bottom of the gas tank. (You have to pull the tank to get to the air filter.) Then they told me it was rock chips from my riding. How do rock chips end up on the part of the tank UNDER THE SEAT? That's just some of what I dealt with here. Avoid this place. If you need Royal Enfield service, go down to New Braunfels or try Quick Cycle. Anywhere but here. read more

I've been treated well at TJ's, both in terms of sales (back in 2019) and service since then. On the sales front, I never had any high-pressure tactics applied to me, and in fact had a great conversation with Tom about the business and the industry in general. On the service side, I've only been in twice, once for scheduled maintenance and once for some needed work on brakes and forks. The fees were in line with any dealer or even an independent shop, and the quality of the work left nothing to be desired. Like any business, one can always find something to kvetch about, but for me, TJ's has been totally above board in both sales and service. read more

Dylan took care of me patiently as we worked through the features on my bike but all my other questions too including scheduling service, upgrade options, delivery and purchasing options. Buying a motorcycle at a dealer has always been a painful process for me. It feels like I'm always getting screwed when it comes to prices, dealer fees, prep fee, the time it takes to complete a transaction, the extra insurances offered at the very end of the process etc. It usually ruines the whole experience of buying a brand new and shiny bike. I wanted to buy a KTM 450 SXF 2018 (my very 1st KTM), so I stopped at TJ's to see if they had any left in stock. I met Tom the owner and also one of the sales people. Very laid back and genuine guy. I didn't feel rushed at all or anything. They didn't have a 2018 model, but a 2019 standard model and the factory 2019.5 edition. I asked if I could sit on it and Tom pulled out the factory edition for me. I asked for a quote and to my surprised, he took him only 2 minutes to come up with a detailed quote for both, standard and factory edition. Zero dealer fees and no prep fees, no hidden numbers, straight out of the door numbers including MSRP+tax+registration fee (only 180). So the number was pretty much what I had in mind by adding taxes to the price tag, usually it ends up being 20-30% above price tag because of a bunch of hidden and random fees. I left with my quotes asking for some time. Came back the next day and bought the factory edition. Again, the transaction took maybe about 30min total from start to finish, which is never heard of... On top of that, people are very friendly at their parts department. Always smiling and very helpful! They have an amazing selection of gear, usually about the same price as what you see online... Well, I stayed away and had any service done elsewhere - where the service staff were not reactionary anti-maskers. I'm sure that they are all vaccinated, though. : D But to get the large, constant, obnoxious service reminder turned off on the fancy TFT display, I had to take the bike to TJ's since only the dealer can do that. When dropping off the bike, I was treated well at first by a nice guy who I did not know. About a third of the paint had spontaneously peeled off of the front fender, and he ordered a new fender as a post-labor courtesy. Credit where credit is due. Then, I heard the "general manager" say to another employee, in a voice audible half way across the store, that I was "that guy who left the bad review". When I was in his sight he demanded to know when I was going to remove the review. He then proceeded to try to gaslight me into doubting what had previously happened. (See the other reviews that also called TJ's on the refusal-to-mask issue, but without complimenting good things about the shop, as I had.) When I picked up the bike from this minor service, basically a glorified oil change with lots of check boxes and little work, I was not at all surprised to see that they had charged me 2.5 hours of labor time. Mind you, there was nothing involved like brake line bleeding or valve adjustment check. I suspect that the mechanics work on commission, but am not sure. If this is not true, I invite the shop to correct this. End of ordeal. I've sold the bike to someone who uses a shop in San Antonio. This means that I didn't need to fill him in on TJ's or feel dishonest for not doing so. I will give up motorcycling after half a century of being an enthusiastic rider before I will set foot in TJ's again. read more

If you're not into masks but are into paying California prices for bikes then shop here. The salesman was nice but was quick to talk down about other dealers whose prices are actually fair. They mark up all of the KTMs and lie stating that they sell it for msrp. Msrp can be easily searched. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because of the large selection of KTM products that you can try on. I'd order online though. You can sell a higher volume of bikes and use that to justify your prices, however, I'll never support that. read more

Bought a hot bike so no "deal", but TJ's didn't mark it up like other dealers tried to do. Service not so good. When taking delivery of the bike, TJ's made no effort to clean or detail the bike. The rider's seat was not installed correctly and the battery was not secured, and tire pressures were set more than 10 lbs over the factory spec. I definitely will not be taking my bike here for any service, that is for certain. read more

Bought motocross helmets for me and my son there right before covid. They have a pretty good selection so I went back a couple of days ago to get myself a new street helmet. Out of the dozen or so employees I saw not one was wearing a mask, not even a mask around their neck. BAD SERVICE - I took my KTM 690R motorcycle from San Antonio to TJs Austin for 6k service work on July 12 though several of my "Club Members" warned me of their bad service. I was told by Arnoldo, "service manager" my +/- 5hr service would be completed on or before Friday July 20, 7 work days later . I called the following Wednesday to verify completion schedule with Armando and again was assured it would be completed. I asked him to please let me know if something changes as I was planning my day around this trip to Austin. I arrived from San Antonio on Saturday July 21 at 9 AM only to be told the service work had not even began. I was assured by Tom the owner and Armando, the "service manager" it would be done by noon and no later than 2pm. I arrived at 2 and the bike had not moved. No phone call. I wasted my whole Saturday because I chose TJ's. DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE. read more

I have no issues at all with the sales department. They were great in getting me into what is my 5th street motorcycle and first KTM. Unfortunately the service department has been very disappointing. First when I wanted to do an interim break-in oil service they insisted that the break-in oil for the bike was not mineral oil for my particular bike. I had already verified with all the blogs that it was and had to ask them to call KTM to get the answer after which they said, "wow, I didn't know that" ... this should have been my first tip that trouble was coming. After only 500 miles stuff started falling off the bike. First the kickstand, then various bolts from the faring. They put the kickstand back on "under warrantee" although it took two days. They said the bolts that fell out were the wrong size from the factory and had to order them. I ordered a $1,000 high performance factory exhaust system from them with a special mounting bracket to eliminate the rear passenger foot pegs and had them install it at the same time they were doing the first service at 700 miles. First service on this little 390 was $280 labor plus parts which I commented was more than I paid for my 1600 BMW but they said they had to do a lot of stuff like adjust the valves, tighten the chain, check all the bolts, oil change, ... The bike was there a week, no calls from them so I called and they said they needed the weekend and Monday but I could come anytime on Tuesday to get it. I called Tuesday they said they were just finishing it up so Wednesday morning come get it. I called at 1pm Wednesday they said how about tomorrow but then decided it was ready just missing a few bolts that they were trying to get from KTM. This is a new motorcycle with 700 miles on it? WTF? I went over there paid the bill and fired up the bike. First thing I notice is another bolt on the faring it not even screwed in and it falls out in my hand. Also the special bracket for the exhaust system that I paid them for didn't even get installed. I went back in to inquire and try to determine what they actually did do for the $280. Paul, service manager, told me that I was in luck because the chain didn't need to be adjusted and the valves were also fine. Also the fuel mapping that was written on the repair order for them to execute was also deemed unnecessary (this is completely inconsistent with all the RC390 blogs and for the specific exhaust I purchased). Given that bolts were falling out of the bike, no chain adjustment, and no valve adjustment my assumption is I just paid $280 plus parts for an oil change. I took my bracket (still in the box) and rode the bike home praying that the wheels stay on till I can get it to another shop. Unfortunately they are the only KTM dealer in Austin so not sure what to do that this point. read more

I should have known better. I really should have. I have been going to TJs Cycles since they were on Burnet Rd, probably 15 years ago. As an owner of multiple motorcycles and scooters there is always something, tires or cables or helmet or gloves, that needs to be taken care of and I try to be loyal to local Austin businesses. Years ago I dropped off a wheel to have a new tire put on and I was very surprised when they called at the end of the day and the bill was almost twice what they had quoted. They had to spray multiple cans of cleaner onto the rim, they said, so it added $50 onto my bill. After arguing with the service manager that I should have gotten a call before incurring any more costs (as is the standard for any repair shop, automobile or otherwise), they dropped it. Fast forward to yesterday and they have moved twice, from Burnet to 183 to I35 and Braker. I had a simple task, change out my scooter tire. Here's the wheel and here's the tire. Simple, right? Price on the wall says "42$ customer provides tire + parts" which is kind of high anyway, I was expecting around $35, but hey, it's TJs Cycles right? from the old days! They told me they would have it done by end of day, and they would call when its ready. No call. So i phoned this morning at 10a and they said "Sure! It's done, come get it!" so I went to fetch it and the price is $70! Ahhh, TJs... the ole bait and switch! 42$ for labor, 4$ for tire disposal (I could just throw it away next bulk pickup), $5 for shop supplies (?), $13 for a valve stem! No mention of any of these charges when I dropped it off. So. I should have known. If you go here get estimate in writing. Record your conversation with the service person. Leave your wallet in your car because they are going to get to it. Expensive and they didn't even balance the tire, even though they did strip all the weights off of it. Thanks, TJs! Never again. I bought my Kymco People S 200 from here and it came with a major problem. The common problem with the battery not being replenished of its charge while idling and apparently riding. I've taken the bike in three times and the battery in a fourth to no avail. They replaced the battery which they charged me for but if they knew this was the problem why did they sell this bike in the first place without fixing it? I refuse to do anymore business with them. Their customer service is not bad but why would they sell me a bike that would present nothing but problems for me? I think they're just asking for a lawsuit. I would never recommend this place to anybody except to avoid it like the plague. They do not care about the quality of what they're selling and obviously do not care about their customers. Please don't shop here. Also the hours and location of this place suck. read more

Buying new is for suckers, but when they told me I could get a two stroke played with a supermoto kit financed, it was hard to refuse. Other places had given me hassles with telling me I'd have to fight the dps. Tj's said "no problem, sign here". Now I carry a can of mix, and go anywhere I damned well please. Leaving 1 Star is too many... Since none of them have listened to me, i am having to write this review. Buyer Beware when buying a used bike from TJ's. Tom (the owner) said the demo bike I was looking at, had been mechanically sound and well maintained by their service dept with only 70 hours on it. The next day, when i came in to purchase the bike, the service manager on duty, explained that the oil plug had been stripped by one of their NEW mechanics and a helicoil was installed, so it has a minor oil leak -no big deal, i thought. Purchased the bike, went to City Park and rode a few laps and the seat popped off a couple of times -again, no big deal, just needed a screw. I wanted to change the oil right after my first ride, just because i wanted to have a starting point for time/oil changes. pulled the filter and it was literally broken (metal reusable). my first thought was,"how long has this been like this???" Now this was a big deal... Took it to TJ and he just kind of shrugged his shoulders with no response whatsoever-this is what they do... Pulled the Air filter (it was clean, but the inside box and under the seat, was completely dirty. Not just a little dusty, but dirty. They could have at least used an air compressor to blow some of this dirt off, but did not... so i cleaned the inside of the air box and under the seat. At this point i was a bit disappointed with the After the Sale service, cuz nobody seemed to care. now i have a bike that needs a seat screw, has probably been ridden without a proper oil filter for quite some time and who knows what else?? Well, i will tell you...within 3 months, the front fork seals blew, the radiators are only being held on with 1 screw on each side, because they broke the lower bolts off in the frame and the head gasket leaks like crazy. In other words, they rode the crap out of this bike for 70 hours, wrecked it HARD several times, then sold it for almost full price. All of these things happened within my first 10-15 hours of ride time... Here is the dilemma, where do i take it to get it fixed - NOT TJ's!!!!
