I was suppose to receive my shipment last Wednesday. Come Wednesday they changed the ETA to Thursday. On Thursday it changed to Friday. On Friday it changed to Monday. On Monday it changed to Tuesday. On Tuesday it changed to Wednesday. You see the pattern here. And all they can say is "our times are only an estimate" This place is the absolute worst. Terrible company to work with. I would rather work with the IRS than Central Transport. I have used Central for years due to low pricing... The sales reps have almost no power to assist you when you have a complaint and they rotate the staff, so frequently that I stopped returning the "Hey I am your new sales rep" calls. If they make a mistake (damage, loss, etc.) it is extremely hard to make a claim, which, in my experience, they always reject. I have had a forklift battery tipped and delivered on it's side, leaking acid (Louisiana)... they were kind enough to not pay for the damage and charged me for additional handling. I have had a forklift battery (hazmat, 2600 lbs.) set on top of a charger (300 lbs.) inside the trailer (NY shipment) and the charger was crushed. My damage claim was rejected (over a month later) due to "Improper packaging"... I call to contest (because it was obviously improperly loaded and I had photos) and they tell me it is NOT possible to talk to the claims department, as they do not have any phones. Yes, you read that right: "no phones". Instead, I need to submit a request/form through the website and wait 3 WEEKS for a response, which I never received. Right now, I have a $3000 / 3400 lbs. hazmat shipment in-transit with the status as "Missing". Missing? How do you lose a hazardous shipment weighing 3400+ lbs.? F. Careless, irresponsible, lazy, and primarily liars, this company deserves zero stars. I shipped all my furniture and belongings through uhaul's new ubox service, and they used central transport. It's a week late. I finally called central directly to find out what's going on and they told me this was the first day they even loaded their truck - this is after telling uhaul every day that it should arrive that day. I would do minus stars if I could. Worst company ever to ship with! Rep came to me wanting my business and gave me great rates but when the invoices started coming in they where 3 and 4 times the amount I was promised. I tried to dispute them but being a family owned company the higher up didn't help me at all. They have their own collections that is a bunch of a snotty ignorant teenagers (all family)with no public relation skills at all! There is no disputing with them, they want there money. The rep came to my office to ask why I wasn't paying my invoices and then agreed she misled me and had me on a wrong program. I was like ok fix it and I will get everything paid. I never heard from her again. Guess she didn't want to lose the commission she got on the bogus overcharges. They were calling my customers harassing them trying to collect from them. Absolutely terrible company. Costumer service is useless, they don't follow through with their delivery schedule. This company had our package for over four weeks, and on three different occasions they failed to deliver the package in the time frame they described. It's absolutely ridiculous that they cannot simply call their costumers ahead of time to let them know they can't make the delivery. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. Do not expect your shipment to arrive in a timely manner. Our shipment has been sitting at the local terminal for 9 days. Every day we are told it is "scheduled to deliver tomorrow" but it never shows up. If you call them you will spend at least 30 minutes on hold. They will give you the run-around, say they aren't "authorized" to help you, and will repeatedly tell you that they "aren't a guaranteed shipper" and that they "don't make any promises." Central Transport does not deserve the one star rating! My company got a quote from this piece of **** company with a 5 day delivery from So. California to No. Carolina. Central picked our pallet up on 7/26/16 and as of today, 8/5/16, it is still sitting in Phoenix, AZ with a "possible delivery date of 8/12/16. Talking to their customer service is like talking to a bobble head. You can't talk to anyone in charge of anything. We ship out freight every day and I have instructed my people to NEVER use Central Transport again!!!!! I give Central Transport a -50 We started using CT to deliver our LTL shipments in July of 2014. We spent numerous hours setting up a 1 pallet shipment program and setup a marketing program to promote our "new shipment program". Within a month, we were shipping 125 average pallets through CT per week. Then the damage and incorrectly invoice classification started rolling in. We called CT to get help and were told to go to their on line claim form and fill it out and they would determine if the claim were valid or not. We sent pictures of the damage for each claim. It is now over 4 months since those claims were entered into their on line claim form system and we have yet to receive any replies other than their claim dept. is looking into it. These were obvious damaged pallets caused by CT through shipping. How much time does it take to look at pictures of the damaged pallets to determine if there is a claim or not? Their driver takes pictures of the pallets when he picks up at our location. In one of our claims (we make 1 product and all of our product is shipped on pallets. Each pallet is exactly the same - weight, dimensions. For one of our shipments, we shipped 2 pallets and by the time it got to the customer it was on 3 pallets due to them destroying the product and having to restack the bags on an additional pallet! This was back in Oct. (over 2 months ago) and we have still not received a response to this freight claim. The damage caused by CT was unbelievable. The reclassification that they invoiced us at was different from what our rep. set us up under and therefore in these cases 2 to 3 times the rate that we were quoted. Again, we only ship one type of product and the weight and dimensions of our pallets do not change. In addition to their excessive damage and incorrectly billed invoices, they raised our rate 60% plus overnight. Did you know that the only way that you can file a freight claim or invoice dispute with CT is to pay the invoice first and then they will determine if you have a valid claim or not? We setup the pickup of all of our shipments on line through the CT website. We enter all of the correct information and are given a rate. Then they bill us at a $800.00 more than the rate we were given due to one of their hand off terminals reclassifying our shipment. In order to dispute their incorrectly billed invoice (on line) it has to be paid at the over $800.00 additional charge! Central Transportation is by far the worst company that I have ever dealt with and I have been a business owner for over 30 years. read more

I keep saying I'm not going to use this company anymore and sadly keep using them! But today was it. They are costing us money in the long run. We shipped 1 pallet from our location to ...literally 10 mins from us. I shipped it on the 22nd of March. By the 28th of March it still wasn't there. I tracked it, and it said 29th of March was delivery date. Track it today.. Today is the delivery date!!! My customer is now demanding their money back because we charged them before they received their product. I am on hold with them now and have been transferred THREE times to a different department. Their tracking is the worst because it doesn't show you where the pallet has traveled too. So, it's been stuck in Elkridge for over a week now.. Which is not even their terminal. The terminal we use is in Hagerstown, MD! 30 mins from where I am. Again... 22nd to 2nd of April. A BIT FREAKING MUCH!!!!!!! Goodbye Central. They like to hit you with 100.00 limited access charges. Customer service sucks and they say it is what it is there is nothing we can do about it. Again, ZERO stars! As the other poster said, the merge has screwed this company! I wish it were only 2 days behind schedule! I've been waiting 3 WEEKS!!! The tracking # is useless (as is their web site), called multiple times, never speak to a live person, but instead get transferred throughout their automated system, just to end up some place that tells me "Our system is not working right now, please call again later". I have called later!!! MANY TIMES!!! So now I'm stuck waiting for product that I honestly don't know if it will ever arrive, nor where the hell it is, and NO ONE to talk to or be held accountable for. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY !!! We scheduled PU of 5 pallets of merchandise, shrink wrapped and zip tied with notes DO NOT UNPALLETIZE.. They ignored and separated our pallets. Shipment was picked up on June 4th going to Larado TX to arrive on June 8th. On the 8th they tried to deliver 1 pallet back to us, was told this needs to go to Larado with rest of shipment. Contacted broker, who was advised pallet would leave on the 9th to Larado. We called back on the 9th to see if had left was advised they couldnt find. Both broker and us tried to call local SC terminal ourselves no phones! Both broker and our company called their customer service. Their customers service is "Im sorry we cant contact the terminals, I'm sorry we will have to get back to you". On the 12th, when pallet still had not moved Broker's owner got involved as both companies were getting the run around from customer service and their supervisors and managers. Between all this called the delivery point to find out the rest of the load had not delivered either. Between the 15th and the 21st we were advised by VP at Central that our shipment and lone pallet had delivered... I'm sorry its in Dallas..., I'm sorry its in Mississippi...only to find out it still had not left SC terminal! Their own VP cant even get a straight answer from terminals. This load finally delivered 18 days later only to find out they didn't deliver almost $8K of product!!!! Now we are in a fight with this so called shipping company to find product or pay the $8K they owe for missing product. Do not plan on ever talking to anyone in the claims department as they also do not have a phone to talk to anyone. We finally received a denial letter from them also unsigned so still did not have anyone to talk to. Upon our own digging and searching of terminals we finally found our missing product sitting at their Larado terminal. When customer went there to pick up himself was given a major hassel until he asked the terminal manager if he was hijacking his product, at which time customer picked up him self. Central never finished this load but demanded full payment from our carrier! Provide the lowest and poorest service I have ever had to deal with from a carrier in my 15 years in this business. Worst company ever! Shipment is delayed several times and then I finally get a delivery scheduled. I am unable to sign for it myself so I arrange to have a neighbor do it for me. They never show. I contact customer service and reschedule for the following monday. I get a delivery time of 9-12. I again arrange for my neighbor to be available. They stayed until after twelve, no delivery, they have to leave, got other things to do. Out of the blue I get a call saying that the truck is at my house and they are here to deliver (outside the delivery window). I can't fault the driver much, he did say he would come back around after his other deliveries and try me again. He called after I was off work and said that he was just getting approval and that he would stop by my place in 10-15 min. Not even 2 min later he calls back and says that he is ordered back to the terminal and that I will need to reschedule. After a week of no responses, I get a call from the vendor who sold me the items wondering what was going on. I finally get customer service on the line, they flagged my delivery in such a way that they wouldn't redeliver without me paying an extra $100. They had no record of the first scheduled delivery and stated that they can't be held to their delivery windows as they are an estimate company. What utter bullsh*t. In the end they shipped my items back to the seller and I had to pay the return shipping. I had to reorder the items and I had the seller use a different company. Things worked out better with the alternate company. This company has the worst customer service and don't give a damn about you as a customer. They only care about how much they can get from you. Brutal Service! Much like other yelp posters, I have had ridiculous "extra fees" added to invoices, NUMEROUS days added to ETA's while in transport and damaged product upon delivery. I deal with CT on a daily basis (as their rates are very good) however, I've had nothing but issues as of late and no cost savings is worth an irate customer questioning where there shipment is. Anytime I call my customer service rep she's always had some kind of excuse and only once has she ever made an effort to correct a situation. SEE YA CT!! Absolute RUBBISH company! read more

Never use this company to move your freight. If you have a choice between this company and a camel choose the camel. Lost shipments, damaged shipments, terrible drivers, even worse dispatchers. I know they are cheap but remember you get what you pay for. One lost shipment retailed for $500.00 sent a check for $45.00 to replace it and still had to pay the freight bill of $100.00. how is that even legal???? I have a small business and we used this freight company to ship orders for a short period of time because their prices were extremely low. Let me tell you, it was not worth it. Their shipments NEVER arrive on the day that their website quotes. Sometimes they're just 1 day late, but sometimes they're several days late. I wrote our sales rep an email telling him that they need to adjust their website transit time quotes to something more realistic, and he responded by saying that WE need to manage our expectations. I find this extremely misleading. And even though their normal shipping prices are low, their supplemental fees are extremely high. For example, we shipped something to Northern California for about $60, which the website quoted as 1 day transit time. We shipped on a Thursday, expecting it to arrive on Friday. But just in case, we put on the Bill of Lading under "special instructions" that the receiver is not open on Mondays. Lo and behold, of course they do not deliver until Monday. I saw the shipment was out for delivery, so I contacted them right away to let them know I put a note that they are closed on Mondays. Then they proceeded to tell me they would need to charge me a re-delivery fee of $72 and also $44 to make an appointment. I DON'T NEED AN APPOINTMENT. I just need them not to deliver on Mondays. Simple. Our sales rep then proceeds to write me an email explaining that there is an appointment fee because "we would need to rearrange the whole day's delivery schedule around 1 shipment that needs to be at a particular location at a particular time". UM NO, I never said it needed to be there at any particular time. They are free to schedule the day however they please, as long as it's not a Monday. Excuses excuses. And then they continue to say "Well, we can waive the $72 re-delivery fee this time." WELL THANK YOU FOR YOUR BENEVOLENCE. You chose not to charge me $72 for overlooking the special instructions, but you're still charging me $44 for an appointment I don't need. No other freight company does this. Needless to say, we don't use them anymore. Beware of this company and their high fees, excuses, and crappy service. Their low rates aren't worth it. read more

NEGATIVE 15 STARS!!!! Terrible, terrible service!! Been waiting on an overnight delivery now for 2 weeks!! As others have mentioned, I've checked the ETA online, Friday turned to Monday, Monday to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, and so on. The most frustrating part, is my shipment is apparently sitting in their warehouse about 10 minutes away. I called yesterday to ask if we could just pick it up, and not only was the customer service representative not polite, I was told they didn't have the manpower to do "will-calls". But I was assured that it would be here tomorrow and to call first thing in the morning to get an ETA. Well tomorrow has turned into today, I called first thing, and was told that there was no way I would get it today, that it was still on the ORIGINAL truck and wouldn't be unloaded until later this afternoon. We are a small mining company that is waiting on this pallet to fix a piece of equipment. Our operation has been down now for two weeks because of this. I would never, ever, EVER recommend this company. Save yourself the headache and go with a different company. read more
