I will never use their services again. I think the delivery is too slow compared to the others. I understand it's Christmas season but still 60-90 days that's way too long!!! And they call update on their website "REAL TIME UPDATES" when it only says the date it was received and the date it was estimated to arrive in the Philippines!!! Never gonna use them again. Okay, so this is my first time writing a review for Metro Box Cargo based on my one experience...so far. First, they answer the phone. That appears to be a positive given other services I've tried to contact and experienced voicemail and/or service reps in other countries. Anyways, my initial call was with Jane and she was extremely informative, helpful and pleasant. My second call was to set up my appointment to meet the driver at the Elk Grove location; Island Pacific Market. This was seemless. The day prior to the scheduled pick-up my schedule changed because of an important meeting. I contacted Marga at Metro Box and she was very understanding and was able to coordinate an earlier timeframe. During the morning of the expected pick-up I contacted Marga and she confirmed she would be contacting me in time to meet the driver. She advised me that they were tracking the driver to ensure I could make my meeting in time. I met the driver at the meeting spot mentioned above and he was very helpful and friendly; Ed was his name. Did I say he was helpful? LOL! Ed was perfect. I also was able to secure more boxes for my next shipment over seas. Overall, the entire process went well. Especially since this was my first experience. Next time it will be even easier. I've never sent so many balikbayan boxes to PI until I called Metro Box Cargo for a pick up. They leave a complimentary Jumbo and little box for your next shipment which fill up in no time and before you know it you're calling them for pick up again and getting your next set of complimentary boxes. I call, we arrange a pick up time within a day or week (based on their pick up schedule in my area), they call and confirm time the day before and then show up within a two hour window. read more

i am giving a 5-star review on this company not because i am a bonafide customer but because recently i have business with them for the last 3 months. we had their 40-footer container for the Philippines for a reasonable price and it's a full-force teamwork on their part to do it with just a snap of a finger! Friendly, honest and approachable employees headed by the manager Egay Tajonera - did the job so well-done! The shipping duration is expected to have 2 months wait from the time it was taken from Patterson, CA to the Philippines but to our amazement, it was delivered 1 month and 6 days to be exact! This review is based on the two shipments that I've sent through them. I commend their team for communicating details of my shipment very well through call and that they respond in a timely manner even though we are in the middle of a health crisis. My mom received my box a little after the estimated date and that is totally fine. I actually expected that it would be a month late due to covid but it was just a week late. The only room for improvement is the online tracking status which they should update more to receive less calls. Other than that very reliable! read more

Usually send my boxes through metro box, no problem encountered. You just call them and they will schedule for pick up. They have a tracking number that you can always check for your boxes. They took picture of whoever received your boxes. If you send. 1 box, you get to send a small box free of charge. read more

i shipped 1 box and 2 small boxes to Manila on January 8, 2021 with Victor of MetroBox Southern California. It was supposed to arrive in 30 to 45 days as indicated in Metro Box Cargo invoice. I called the office in Manila on March 5, 2021 and spoke to Precious. Precious said the cargo will arrive on March 16, 2021 and released by March 19, 2021. Today is April 10, 2021 and nowhere are my balikbayan boxes. The last time I spoke to Precious on April 6, 2021 they are waiting for a signature from customs, first they are waiting after holy week, wow, now for a signature? Normally there is always a prepared signature stamp by the head in case he's not in the office and the releasing personnel can just stamp the document. So many excuses, where are my boxes????? My cargo box keeps on delayed it's been 3 months and a half. A week after arrival date moves back again

At the time of this review, I had already used their service back in April... and I am using their service again, writing this as I wait for my 2nd pick up! It was my first time sending to the Philippines and Metro Box Cargo was OUTSTANDING! Their website was very informative to new users, like myself, including a blog with tips on how to prepare the box or what to expect during the shipment process, reducing my anxiety. Customer service, in person & over the phone was excellent and transparent, especially explaining the potential delays because of the pandemic. Pick up was friendly, professional (they have company-branded box trucks) AND they were on time... they even strap the boxes for you right then and there. They also provide a schedule of events (when your box gets loaded to the dock and when it departs). You can also track the shipment online, which gives an estimated date of arrival... and it's accurate & up to date. The boxes arrived to my recipient safe & secure, in a relatively short time frame, IMO, all things considered. I highly recommend Metro Box Cargo for your freight forwarding needs... they make it very easy for you with no headaches or surprises, unlike the other popular freight forwarder... I almost used the other company... had an awful experience during consultation with who shall not be named (but starts with an L & ends with a C). read more

Their pickup timeline is pretty reasonable and Jay Mark who they have sent out to do the pick was prompt and helpful. Very happy with the service for how many times until now, they don't have proper communications with their team here in US and Manila, Manila team said my package will not be delivered because Metro cargo didn't pay the shipping yet! WTH! I talked to Jane over the phone to update, she doesn't know anything coz people there didn't inform her about what seem to be the problem, she just hang up the phone, no advise of what to do. I'm a little premature on the review, since I haven't actually shipped my stuff yet, but I wanted to comment on how much stress has been removed from my mind after having met the folks at Metro Box Cargo. I picked up my Balikbayan boxes today at the Hayward location and had a talk with one of the owners/managers. Turns out they ship more than just balikbayan boxes, which I suppose other shipping companies also do, but going in I didn't know that, so now I can rest assured that my odd sized items will ship, additionally they charge by the box and not by weight, another worry I had, now gone. Also, since I'll be moving to the Philippines without a confirmed address I was worried about my belongings getting lost, but I was reassured that they would hold the delivery in their warehouse in Manila until I confirm a shipping address once I get there and get established. ok, i'm writing this review after debating long time whether to post it or not. but here it goes. i used metro box cargo twice so far. both the times my packages were delivered fine. my 1 star review is not about their pricing nor their service but based on my suspicion. when i used metro box cargo for 2nd time, a guy came with a truck to pick up my package, just like the first time. he told me i can pay with personal check or cash so i paid with my personal check. bad choice and lesson learned. next day, my checking account is compromised and significant amount of money were withdrawn from my checking account multiple times for next 2 days via ACH. i had reported the incident immediately to my bank so i received significant portion back as temporary credit but only to be stolen by fraudsters again the next day. now i am not claiming that metro box cargo stole my checking account info and sold it to black market. however, it can very well be someone in the process line. i have every right to be suspicious of that since i rarely use my personal check, and no other check was used for long time prior to this incident. yes there is a chance that metro box mishandled my personal check and let it get exposed to fraudsters. but whatever may have happened, i personally won't be using metro box cargo anymore. and of course i won't be using personal check unless i know my personal check can be safely handled by that merchant. i have obtained the exact names of those who withdrew money from my account through the bank. luckily i ended up getting all my money back eventually after bank has decided that it was not a legitimate transaction. i just wanted to warn everyone of possible connection with fraud activity. just be careful out there everyone. read more
