Everything about this place is an absolute scam! I'd give this place zero stars if I could. Don't come here unless you're looking to get fleeced for every dollar in your pocket. This had been our primary vet for about a year. Our labradoodle has struggled with chronic gastrointestinal issues for almost the whole time we've had him. Central West End Vet Hospital continuously diagnosed him with the same problem without giving any other possibilities or options. They'd give us a couple pills, and the pills would work for a short period of time, but the problem would always come back shortly after. We were caught in this cycle for months, forced to pay them more and more money without seeing better results. All services and treatments at this place are outrageously priced. They charge $350 for a simple heart worm test! This place is solely in the business of money... they don't care about you or your animal. One of the times we brought our dog back here, all of the employees were wearing head-to-toe hazmat suits, googles, and masks. They told us that we would have to carry our 50 pound doodle into the office because he wasn't allowed to touch the floor. They were worried he had parvo, even though this was probably his fifth visit or so after experiencing the same exact symptoms as every other visit. It was obvious that he didn't have parvo. They still proceeded to charge us an absurd amount of money for a parvo test. It was almost comical how they treated us. I've never seen anything like it. If they kept telling us he had giardia, why did they suddenly think it was parvo before even having the chance to examine him properly? The only explanation I can come up with is to take our money. Another strange thing about this vet is that I've never seen any other animals or their owners while we've been here. It makes me think that other people have had similar experiences and complaints and they're struggling to retain customers. We had been putting off starting over at a new vet due to the fees associated with visiting somewhere new for the first time. However, we ultimately decided that the only way our fur baby will receive proper care and treatment is if we get a second opinion. We tried another local vet, and it was such a night and day difference from Central West End Vet Hospital. Our new vet asked us in-depth questions about our dog's symptoms that Central West End Vet Hospital never asked. After months of anxiety about our doodle's health, we have finally received real answers, options, and relief by leaving Central West End Vet Hospital and going to a new vet. Hope this prevents someone from experiencing another misdiagnosis! read more

I have mixed feelings about Central West End Veterinary Clinic. If you choose them for your pet's care, be prepared to bring plenty of cash. From my experience, every simple issue I brought to Dr. Walker resulted in additional, precautionary, and "best-care practice" follow-up procedures that quickly added up. While I appreciate thoroughness in pet care, I've spent thousands of dollars here without seeing the kind of consistent, effective results I expected for the health of my pets. It's been a frustrating and costly experience, and while the staff is friendly and the clinic is clean, I'm not sure it's the best option for every pet owner. read more

I brought my dog (a morkie) in for a follow-up visit after my wife brought our dog one week prior. Dr. Clary was compassionate, knowledgeable and clearly communicated her assessment and plan moving forward. She spent time discussing her thoughts about my dog's situation along with the various diagnostic and treatment options. The staff was also very kind and helpful. I was ultimately very pleased with my experience. They're located next to the Shnuck's grocery store and there's ample parking. Finding a good doctor is hard, and we're glad we brought our dog to the CWE Veterinary Clinic. We will surely be back for all our dog's medical and surgical needs. read more

This past weekend I was in St. Louis from out of town with my dog, and ended up needing emergency veterinary care to treat my dog having ingested a handful of foreign objects that were not being digested. I was extremely scared and to be quite frank, pretty frantic, and was so grateful to have found CWEVH. They were able to get me in for an urgent care appointment basically immediately, and get us the answers and care we needed. Unfortunately, things turned for the worse and my pet ended up needing emergency surgery, which the vets at CWEVH gave up their friday nights to complete after hours and make sure my Heidi girl was okay. The pricing was extremely fair, and the patience, transparency, and commitment to the care of the animals they see was paramount. I had amazing experiences with Dr. Klein, Dr. Walker, Courtney, (Jackie?), and really everyone we came in contact with! If I lived in town I would genuinely be coming here for all my pets primary care. Will be forever thankful for the care we received and the team saving my Heidi girls life!!! read more

Yesterday, after a couple days of my cat being sick I decided I needed to take him into see a Veterinarian. I didn't have one for him and so I thought that I would look around for a mobile clinic because my "tough" guy is scared of his shadow as well as drives in the car, plastic bags, bottles, and just about everything. I stumbled upon CWE Vet Clinic and called about the mobile clinic. It wasn't available - I wasn't even thinking about Covid, just that my cat was sick - but was told by Kelsey that they could see me anytime that day or the next. I am not going to lie. I was crying and even cried a little more when I realized that she REALLY cared or anyway seemed to care about my boy. Being unprepared I didn't even have a cat carrier. She had someone come out to my car with one and explained that I should get in the car just in case Lucky (my cat) would shoot out of the car. Again, I was crying. He was scared. When I walked in I was immediately put in a room with my guy and they took some info, I could barely speak because I was trying to be strong for Lucky who kept looking at me like "what is happening?". Then Elizabeth came in and wanted to weigh him. He wasn't scared of her or anything. She was very sweet, matter-of-fact, but kind. When Dr. Walker came in she had the most calm, sweetest voice and between her and Elizabeth's soft but firm touch they were able to get a blood sample, a urine sample, give Lucky an IV and even give him a shot before he had had enough. This morning I rec'd a text from the office asking how Lucky was. A TEXT?!! Can you believe that? Like we were old friends. It was awesome. Then the doctor called and told me that Lucky has GI Lymphoma. While this is bad it could be worse. I had to go to the Clinic to get some probiotics and some food to try out on Lucky. I was greeted by Kelsey, the sweet girl who started it all for me. She asked how Lucky was and told me that her cat liked the probiotics that I was going to be testing out on Lucky. That put my mind at ease a little. I have to tell you...if when I had called yesterday Kelsey had been cold and not as forgiving to a woman crying on the phone about her cat, I would have gone elsewhere. I thought that if the person that answered the phone was that sweet and took time out to talk to me like that then the doctor must be 10xs as sweet and I was not disappointed. I HIGHLY recommend this place. More importantly, LUCKY highly recommends this place. read more

I moved back to the area and I was desperate to find a good reliable vet that was taking in new clients. Luckily I found this location by complete accident while looking for a mobile vet. They were very pleasant and were able to get us an appointment quickly. The vet and all the techs that we encountered were very knowledgeable and patient. I honestly couldn't of asked for a better experience for me and my dog. This place is about 40 mins from my house but it's totally worth it for the kind of service they provide. I took my very sick and elderly cat here after finding the Mobile Veterinary Clinic which is a partner to this place. My cat was so done with her previous vet, hissing and scratching at her at each visit, and it was a relief to find this place instead. The tone is calm, the exam room I was in is set up with space, comfortable chairs, and no metal table for the animals. The vets get down on the floor with the pet so as not to freak them out. I only had time to take Ellie here twice, once for a check up and once for the saddest day of my life when it was time to euthanize her. I could have done it at my home with the same doctors, but timing and choice led me to take her in. Dr. Walker had been Ellie's short-term vet. She's very knowledgeable but a little quirky in a science-y sort of way. We had never met Dr Clary until the morning of euthanasia, which has to be one of the worst times for a vet to meet a family, but she was very gentle, calming, direct, and did her best to make Ellie's passing go well. It didn't go as well as I'd expected, Ellie vomited before dying, but I don't blame Dr. Clary for that...she said some cats have that reaction and she'd tried to dose Ellie so she wouldn't. The office staff are the best! Despite them knowing us for only 3 or 4 months, they really cared about me and Ellie, making sure they were there when I needed to buy prescription food, and taking really good care of my friend in the waiting room while Dr. Clary and I said goodbye to my cat. I wish I had found them earlier in Ellie's life. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. I've been to so many vets over the years, and none have been so consistent and caring as this team. Dr. Walker is who I work with every time, and she is the the most competent doctor I've met. She takes time to explain things thoroughly, answer all your questions, and give honest insight into any concerns you may have. Unlike many vets in the past, she is not patronizing or condescending toward me and my protectiveness/obsessiveness with my cats. I've had too many vets scoff and disregard my concerns. She is gentle and patient with my cats, but she also works efficiently to get things done quickly in order to mitigate any stress for my boys. The staff members are great about relaying messages, and I love the option to text! This is the only vet I've felt comfortable with reaching out to with concerns and questions, knowing they are more than happy to help. I highly recommend this clinic, and if you have a kitty, I cannot recommend Dr. Walker enough. read more

Came here because of the amazing Google and Yelp reviews and wasn't too impressed. My husband and I brought our 9 week old puppy here for her first appointment. Upon arrival, we're told that Dr. Clary is still on a house call and will be late. We had plenty of time that day to wait around, but how often could this be an issue? We ended up waiting over an hour past our appointment time. Luckily, the receptionist kept us busy with treats and toys. She is the reason this place gets two stars. She was wonderful. We finally meet Dr. Clary and I'm not sure why, but we just didn't vibe with her. She was very patronizing in the way she spoke to us and gave us really odd advice that went against what most books/websites say. We felt like she was judging us for getting a high energy dog that will live in the city and not on a farm. Then she recommends a clicker training course that is offered at the vet office. We sign up for a complimentary meet and greet happening that next week. My husband calls the day of the course to verify that it's free and they confirm that it is. He gets there and the trainer goes "okay, so that'll be $25 for today". The whole group was pretty upset and her excuse was "oh this happens all the time from poor communication with this office". I know it's only $25, but c'mon. We felt swindled and won't be returning. read more

Could not be happier with our care here. I have a newly rescued dog and a dramatic cat and finally decided I needed to establish care in the area. From the beginning they made it so easy, with texted appointment scheduling and directions. The cat just needed a rabies booster, but they went the extra mile on intake to ask about his diet and making sure he was on something age appropriate; the dog is a handful but they were nothing but kind about his energy. They were upfront about cost, quick with care, and thorough. All while being extremely COVID-safe with a curbside appointment (which I was initially worried about because I don't want to let my babes out of my sight). Dr. Klein made me feel like I hadn't missed anything not being there, didn't seem rushed to chat about my very healthy pets, and offered follow up care that aligned with my owner philosophies. I have zero confidence in this place. I was given wrong test results and wrong medication for my pet. I was sent a text message with negative results. Then left a voicemail with positive results, not confirming which was correct. Then a couple months later I went to pick up a second medication. After getting home I realized that they mislabeled the medication. The label was not accurate with the medication. As a laboratory technician, I know they are not following protocols to make mistakes this big. I shouldn't have to do their work for them. read more

I have a senior dog, a young dog, and a young cat - we all love Central West End vet! Our dogs see Dr. Clary, and she is so respectful and sweet to them. She crawls around on the floor with them and spends the time to make them feel more comfortable and less nervous before she starts poking around. My cat has urinary/bladder issues and sees Dr. Walker. She explains everything in great detail and takes the time to make sure I know what I need to take care of Auggie when I leave their office. Jonathan and Barbara are wonderful technicians and also take the time to get to know our pets to make them more comfortable. I would've given it one star if not for the amazing vet techs and workers there. The problem is the doctor! She was condescending she was laughing in the same sentence as telling me my dog could die that night. She got pissed at me for asking questions. She was brash and condescending to me because I wasn't in the "medical" field ... I've never experienced anything like that especially around the health and well-being of a loved one. I recently tried the Central West End Veterinary Clinic, as it is much closer to my home than the vet I have previously been using for my precious doggie. Like most people, my dog is my baby, so I am very picky about where I take her. I have to say I was very impressed by this place! The staff was super friendly and nice and the facility was very clean (cleanest vet I've seen, in fact), modern, and comfortable. There was plenty of parking and I walked right in during my scheduled appointment time, instead of sitting in a waiting room with tons of other animals until they're ready, which is always stressful for everyone. Dr. Walker was very nice and was obviously very knowledgeable about animals and medicine. She thoroughly explained the health issue with my dog in a way that I could understand and treated my pup like gold. My old vet seemed to "run them in and run them out" as fast as possible, so it was a nice change to have her get to know my dog and me and take the time to investigate my pup thoroughly to make sure she gave the correct diagnosis. I was thrilled with the service and care and will be switching over to this vet clinic permanently! read more

We have moved a lot through the years, so our 13 yr old dog has had her fair share of vets. This place is our favorite. We have brought her in for various check ups and routine vaccinations over the past two years and our dog has gone from a shaky mess to wagging her tail with excitement when she sees Dr Walker. We recently brought our girl in bc of unexplained weight loss and some skin issues and the vet prepared us for a possible cancer diagnosis. She was right. The diagnosis required her to put our dog under anesthesia to X-ray her jaw and the morning of the procedure, the tech Jonathan brought us back to show us where she would be and what the procedure set up was. When it came time to break the bad news to us, the patience and delicate nature of Dr. Walker was quite comforting. We are obviously very saddened by our dog's prognosis, but we feel grateful knowing we will be going through this whole nightmare with a vet we trust and a place our dog feels most comfortable. The entire staff always remembers our dog and greets her with excitement, and we know we can call with any question or concern in her final months of life with us. read more
