A very iconic spot in Montreal which is a must-visit. We went there on a Saturday night and…read moreobviously it was packed. Very different vibe there. Many vegetarian options in the menu. Food was good overall. We went for a grilled cheese, vegetarian burger (both combos) and a veggie pogo. Liked all three. Fries were good. O-Juice was nice but felt a bit sugary than sour. Portions were good and it didn't feel heavy. All their meals are given in takeout brown bags - no trays, plates etc. They don't have any indoor seating options but there are standing counters. There are a couple of benches outside if the weather permits. Many folks just got the food to their cars and ate them there. Staff was nice. Given it was our first time, we had a few questions which they answered well. Plenty of parking outside. Definitely recommended.

We were staying in the area while visiting Montréal. Montréal's famous Gibeau Orange Julep…read moreRestaurant is easily spotted by the giant orange dome on the restaurant. It's been around since 1932 and looks like to be a popular destination for locals and tourists. Our group just wanted something quick to eat since we spent the day in Old Montréal and was heading back to the hotel. The parking is a circle surrounding the structure. The speed of the line went pretty quick from ordering to getting the meal considering they had a steady line while we were there. There is option to dine there with some bench and table seating to the left of the ordering station. We just grab and took our stuff back to the hotel since it was late and a little windy the day we went there. We shared a poutine and got small orange julep drinks to share. The poutine was good, but not my favorite in this city. What I liked about it was the gravy. Rich and a generous amount on the fries. I didn't wish that the fries could have been more crisp. I think they got soggier by the gravy. The cheese curds were a bit melty- also there was no squeak when I took a bite. True cheese curds make a squeak when you chew them. Just not sure we didn't get a squeaking batch. The orange julep I would definitely come back for again. It was super refreshing and a little frothy on the finish. So good I wished I got a bigger size. It was a big hit with my daughter too. They sell them in different sizes and even sell a big sharing jug. We didn't try other offerings of food they had (hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, spaghetti, wings, nuggets, desserts and breakfast), but may be on the next visit. It's worth checking out. Maybe next time we will try to dine in.

The Verdict: Patty Slaps is an Absolute Smacker…read more If you're walking down St-Catherine Ouest, dodge the construction, skip the generic chains, and head straight for the corner of Mackay. Nestled right in the heart of downtown is Patty Slaps, a smash burger joint that doesn't just serve food--it delivers a swift, flavor-packed wakeup call to your tastebuds. Here is why this spot deserves a permanent slot in your Montreal food rotation: The Main Event: Masterclass Smashes Let's talk about the burgers. They aren't those massive, jaw-locking monsters that require a forklift and ten napkins to eat. They are perfectly sized, expertly balanced, and served on top-tier, pillowy, brioche-style buns that hold everything together like a dream. The execution on the beef is flawless: The Edges: Lacy, ultra-crispy, and beautifully caramelized. The Center: Somehow, despite the aggressive smash, they lock in a seriously impressive level of juiciness. Whether you're a purist or want to branch out, their menu boasts a fantastic variety of flavor profiles, making it easy to find your personal holy grail of burgers. The Sides & The Setup The Fries: They serve up thin-cut fries that lean a little on the greasy side, but honestly? In a way that makes them incredibly addictive. They're salty, savory, and the ultimate companion to the main course. The Takeout Box: If you're grabbing your food to go, you're in for a treat. They pack everything into this brilliantly engineered, highly practical box that keeps your meal secure and structurally sound while you walk. No soggy paper bags here. The Vibe: Want to eat in? The indoor seating space is clean, sharp, and welcoming. Plus, if you're catching them during the gorgeous Montreal summer months, their outdoor terrace is the premier spot to crush a burger and people-watch. Efficiency at Its Finest: Craving a burger but hate dealing with overcomplicated menus? Patty Slaps keeps it moving. The ordering process is lightning-fast, intuitive, and completely foolproof. You walk in, you order without a headache, and you're eating gold in minutes. Final Score: 9.5/10. Incredible location, immaculate crunch, and zero fluff. If you haven't been slapped by Patty yet, you're missing out.

We enjoyed ourselves bigly. We highly suggest you try for yourself and you'll find out But seriously. Very good tacos - we tried most of the corn ones and each of them was excellent, especially the fish. We enjoyed the decor with the huge black board decorated in customers writings (and of course the silly cartoonish charicature). Quick and friendly service and a lovely atmosphere.

I enjoyed their little joint with the authentic vibe , the mexican flag and the beautiful menu on their chalk board it was a pretty cool ambiance but the food really didn't speak for itself and wasn't good at all.. maybe they were having an off day who knows!? The food: not really good.. I unfortunately got very ill and didnt feel good the day after.. something was off with the tacos de mais.. They didn't taste good to begin with.. the shell wasn't soft and tasted pretty stale and sandy as I bit into it... it was old. As I read other reviews I was convinced that this place was the real deal for authentic tacos, hmm not quite actually very far from authentic mexican tacos.. they tasted really commercialized and the tacos bread was not fresh and probably store bought 2-3 days old. the garnishing was drenched with parsley and cilantro was super overwhelming with herbs :/.. the beef Tacos oh boy :/ it was dry and bland tasteless.. I couldn't swallow it as it tasted like sand in my mouth and was not able to swallow it down my throat... I had to gulp 1L of water to wash that taco down my belly.. I don't think I finished my meal and just threw out both dishes in the poubelle :( I was very hesitant to write a review but then I reminded myself that honesty is the best policy and people should know the truth always.. I really am disappointed as I was really impressed with the little joint and the ambiance but unfortunately my food didn't sit well with me I was not feeling so good afterwards for 2 days.. Don't think I'll be back here
