After my dentist retired, we had a little global pandemic, and then things got busy and ... in 2026 I brought them a mouth some California dentists wouldn't touch without hundreds of dollars in X-ray and lab fees up front. Then wouldn't touch. ​ In two days of care, they replaced a complex crown, did four quadrants of deep cleaning, and filled an embarrassing number of cavities. I paid about two and a half Gs for what I was quoted elsewhere for between $6K and $10K. This is dental work under local anesthesia, so some pain from numbing is expected. They have a deal with a chain hotel in easy walking distance that has an included breakfast with soft foods and a UV water dispenser on every floor. From my initial contact on WhatsApp, to their offer to Uber me to the office, to patient intake and detailed assessment including head CTs (!), 3D modeling (!!!), photography of teeth and individual tooth x-rays, and the competence of the clinical team... I don't believe this level of dental care is available in Estados Unidos. If I have a friend who needs dental care, I will cheerfully refer them here. The problem with finding a great dentist is finding one that is super-skilled at what they do, really care about you as a patient and are affordable. It's easy to find one with one of these things, not super hard find one with two, but really, really hard to find one with all three. Dr. Ramirez has all three. With other dentists I found in Tijuana (some of which are highly rated on this site), so many are just running tourist mills. I always felt rushed, I felt pressured to get treatments I didn't need or the price I was quoted changed sometimes mid-procedure. On the other hand, Dr. Ramirez is always willing to sit and explain every problem, procedure and options at length in English which is great for Americans like me that know no Spanish. He is very honest about expected outcomes and follow-ups. It is very clear that he takes his work very seriously and really cares about you as a patient and a person. He goes out of his way to make sure the process is painless and comfortable. His finished product is the best I've had in my life. He also quotes a price and sticks with it which will be at least half and maybe more than what you would pay in the states for the exact same work. I could not be happier in finding Dr Ramirez. I have recommended him to my family and friends and even created a Yelp account just to write this long-winded review. I hope I don't have to see him again for a little while, because, well, that means I am having a problem, but I am relieved that when that problem comes, I have a great place to go to.

Pain free I was eating tacos 30 min after (probably not very recomendable) After this I had my braces done here. My treatment lasted just a little over a year. Office is clean and the drs are very knowledgeable. If I'm not mistaken dr. Julio is also a dental surgeon and professor at the university. Also they accept most American dental insurance. Mine covered all expenses didn't even have to pay co payment. And covered the braces where here in the US it wouldn't have been because it is seen as cosmetic.

After which I paid my bill ($175) and headed back to the border. After crossing the border, and when the anesthesia wore off, I still felt the same pain as before. So finally I looked in the mirror and realized, to my amazement and horror, that he pulled the WRONG tooth. I felt violated and could not sleep for a week. I had a friend who spoke better Spanish call and complain. The only thing they offered was a silly refund. To add insult to injury, they only refunded $120. Horrible experience.
