This theater reminds me of the ones I grew up with in the 90s, in the best way possible. The interior is a little dated compared to some of the fancy theaters with recliners, but it is immaculately clean with a fun ambiance. The rocking stadium chairs are roomy and comfy. Customer service is also really solid. You buy tickets from a HUMAN at the box office, and lobby staff are helpful and courteous. Shout out to the young lady at the snack bar who took extra care to make great popcorn. (She asked if I wanted butter "layered or on top" and obliged when I asked for just a light amount. I'm happy that this is my local theater, although I wish they had a wider selection of movies at certain times of the year. read more

The Cinemark Century Bayfair Mall 16 Movie Theater is a clean and efficient movie theater. Their popcorn is delicious, and they serve real butter. You can also pay a bit more to have unlimited bottomless popcorn, which can be a great money saver if you're watching movies that are over two hours long. Another plus is that there's usually no big line in front of the theater to get tickets, so you can easily catch a movie even if you're a bit late as they still show previews. The theater also has a large, free parking lot, so you don't have to worry about parking. The open-air concession area is a nice touch, and the decor reminds you of the late 80s and early 90s. People hate soooo hard on this movie theater but it's actually not that bad! Especially if you come on Tuesdays - tickets are $6 and it's very empty and it's the best haha. Came a couple weeks ago to see Sheep Detective with a cinemark gift card and got a delicious popcorn, enjoyed some leather seats that have cupholders but don't recline (just a little bit of posterior tilt haha). Always reliable easy parking in the parking lot, all the staff are very efficient, and everything is an acceptable level of clean. One year later and two additional screenings in, my review stays the same but I'm lowering the stars to two. Not because of the theatre but because I find it completely outrageous that watching films that are near the end of their runtime in theaters contain 20-30 minutes of trailers and advertisements. Watching the Odyssey the week before I was victim to 27 minutes of trailers. The following week watching Spider-Man: Brand New Day, I had to sit through 24 minutes where I was literally only one of two people. Idk why Cinemark thinks containing so many trailers and advertisements will draw people in when it's having the opposite effect. At this point, I'm best off going to a theatre with less advertisements or will purchase a ticket way in advance then show up 20 minutes after the "start time". read more

I've been coming here 2x a week for years straight now. At this point, I have to abandon the theater. Every single experience is negative now, and it's always the customers. Today's experience was a 5 person family just full on talking during the entire 3 hour move. Not one second without their loud talking, seat kicking, and awfulness. I moved across the entire theater and they were so loud I could still hear every single word. And it's like this every single time, without fail. I'm not going to fight with jerks inside the theater, so it's no longer worth it to come here at all. No one at this theater cares about anything happening here, and it shows. read more

Caught the matinee showing of Primate this past Sunday. There was plenty of parking outside, and the theater was your typical Century Cinemark from the outside. Service and concessions stand offerings were standard. There were no recliners in the auditorium, but the cushioned seats were comfortable enough and in good condition, and the back leaned back a little, so it didn't feel stiff. The movie screen didn't turn on till the listed showtime, so it was awkward and quiet in the auditorium before start time, no advertisements before the previews which began suddenly and at a very high volume exactly on the dot of the ticketed time. There were about 15-20 minutes of previews. Sound and picture quality were satisfactory during the film (my ears quickly adjusted to the loudness). I didn't encounter any problems while there. And Primate ended up being an awesome suspenseful thriller I absolutely enjoyed, at an affordable price from this theater. read more

We came here for a particular movie with the kids. It was ok but there were flies buzzing around enough that my six year old complained about it and started mentioning features of our local alameda movie theatre that has comfier chairs, etc. I probably will not be back unless there's another movie that isn't shown at the Alameda Cineplex. read more

It was ok, nothing special. Haven't watched a movie in a movie theater in awhile and thought I'd check out what movies are playing there. The employee working at the movie ticket window was perfectly polite. The employees at the food & snacks for purchase area were too. No trash on the floor, no mobs, pretty clean. I purchased 1 ticket for myself to watch the most recent Tron film and walked out after about 40 minutes, because I found it pretty boring. It was all sound effects of traffic, overly embellished and/or flat characters, an ambiguous year as the backdrop, and nothing really thought-provoking (disappointing). I really dislike this location . The customer service is horrible... waiting in line forever to buy tickets, line almost out the door. Get to that front of the line to be told that I have to stand on another line to buy snacks and can only buy tickets. The guy is literally at the snack counter, telling me to stand on another snack counter line for snacks. There also doesn't seem to be surround sound, it's like watching a big TV screen ... the volume is lackluster. The only plus is the price and parking,hence the 2 stars. read more

I have been coming here since 2015 and I've been really enjoying most of my time here however, these last few years after the pandemic has changed my outlook on the entire thing this theater needs to shut down soon. I really do not like the atmosphere of this building anymore it really needs to have a big upgrade if they're gonna be letting people come in to sleep in the middle of the movie it was very distracting to watch a patron sleep in the middle of the movie. 10:25 AM for Devil wears Prada 2 a guy with a bag lay down and just watch the movie for about an hour and left that was so weird. Yesterday I stopped i by to grab two huge Delicious bags of Pocorn, and I met these two awesome people, they were friendly and didn't just ignore me standing there. I went to Cinemark Century Bayfair Mall 16 today, October 28, 2025, for the documentary Left Behind. We were seated at 5:00 PM and sat there for an hour and a half while staff tried -- and failed -- to get the documentary to play. By 6:30 PM, everyone was told to leave because they couldn't show the film at all. This was an incredible waste of time, very unprofessional, and shows a complete lack of preparation. Cinemark should not advertise a screening they can't deliver. If you're planning on attending a special screening at this location, think twice -- you might just end up wasting your time like we did. read more

Underrated and hidden gem of a theater! This is my go-to theater. It's small and somewhat run-down, but they have played a lot of movies that some of the bigger theaters may not be running. For example, I came here on a random weekday when they screened Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for an anniversary viewing, and I got the WHOLE THEATER to myself. They were also one of the few theaters that played the live recording of the theater adaptation of Spirited Away, and there was just me and a handful of Ghibli fans sitting in the theater. Staff is friendly, and the tickets aren't as overpriced as many other theaters. I always go here if I can. read more

I really enjoyed my time today 7/24/23! I saw Mission Impossible. I haven't been here in a long time. The staff was pretty friendly. The girl that sold me my ticket was very helpful and so was the concession stand workers. The theater was very clean. The movie had the perfect amount of projection and also sound quality. I live not too far from here and I always forget to come. Matinee was $6.75. I'm definitely going to come more often. The matinee price let me buy popcorn and a soda which totaled about 12 bucks. I don't mind supporting a business that is taken care of and also has a good amount of employees because even though concession prices are a little high in general I'm glad I can support the people that work there. And as a matter of fact the concession prices weren't out of control compared to some places. Last time I was here it was a few years ago when Baby Driver came out. Actually was a little disappointed and almost complain but I ended up emailing the manager who in return contact me back. Which was very nice of him. Last time the place wasn't as clean and the sound was way too loud. At least for my visit this time they totally remedied that. Yeah. I'm going to give this place some more shots. Movies especially Blockbuster movies should be seen at a theater. You're missing so much when you watch it at home even if you have a good TV and sound system. Friendly and clean! My husband and I went to the movies on a Thursday evening. Parking lot was well lit and felt safe. From the moment we entered the theater, we were made to feel welcome. The staff is amazing from the ticket takers to the concessions. They greeted us and thanked us for coming. There was an issue with the lighting in our theater so I ran out to mention it to one of the guys in the concession area. He was right behind me and took care of it within minutes. Bathrooms are clean as is the movie theater itself. I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

Trying to stay positive during this pandemic, there were only 9 of us in the entire theater!! Needless to say, we were more than 6 feet apart. Pre-pandemic was the last time I was here. And almost got into a fight. Punk kids in the back row throwing candy at other guests throughout the movie. After the movie was over, I walked up to them not realizing that it was a football team. Needless to say, I kept walking.............. Quality/Quantity - Place was clean; seats upgraded since the last time I visited Atmosphere - Excellent and safe environment, especially since there were only 9 of us. They also provided sanitizer wipes at the entrance of each theatre. Service - All team members were friendly, professional, and efficient Price - We used our leftover movie passes, so it was "free" today :) Owner Suggestion - Thanks for re-opening and creating a safe environment. Because of the state of the Bayfair Mall, I avoided this theater for years thinking it would be in the same shape. I was completely wrong. I've now gone several times and have been impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the concessions, the cleanliness of the theater, and the comfort of the seats. Nothing but good vibes here. So much better than the crowded and dirty mess at Bay Street where our friends usually liked going. This is definitely my new go to. read more

This movie theater looks like it hasn't been updated in 30 years. The food selection is the generic overpriced selection, nothing special. The worst part is the trashy customers that talk and browse their phones throughout the movie. The theatre is fine being that it's an older theatre. The workers keep it clean and clean up after some patrons who can be lazy slobs. I've seen people get up after a showing and literally throw their popcorn onto the floor, their drinks, trays and whatever else they've purchased strewn all over. It's disgusting. I'm not sure people realize there's a garbage receptacle right outside the exit ha! The workers are friendly, the popcorn has been fresh, the seats are ample but do not recline etc., the theatre is clean when you walk in (close your eyes on your way out) and there's plenty of parking. read more

It's a typical movie theater and on its own I would give 4 stars but the employees here are AMAZING. They went above and beyond today. The ticket taker very seriously pretended to 'process' my kids tickets. Then the concession stand set up confused me (first movie post-pandemic and things have changed) - the attendee was SO patient and helpful, and on top of that they gave us HUGE popcorn scoops in our kids packs. As we were leaving another employee offered to take a family photo for us in front of the movie poster. I've been living in San Leandro for 8 years now and finally went here for the first time last week. Sadly to say, it'll be my last time. I've avoided this place due to the reviews and complaints I've seen throughout the years and usually opted to drive further away for a better theater experience (usually Union City/Fremont/Newark). I figure that they should be cleaner and better maintained now since the pandemic has forced less than 50% capacity, therefore seats are blocked off and there are less people so it should be cleaner? Oh boy, I was so wrong. We went at the last showing on a Thursday night, every other row was taped off and there were perhaps just shy of 20 people in the theater. We chose to not get anything from concession and kept our mask on the entire duration. The seats around me had dried up spilled drinks remnants all over the floor and on almost every cup holders. I get that staffing is down but with limited seatings, you'd think someone can actually attempt to clean something. The spill and drink residue looks to have been there for at least half the day, even though they clearly advertised that they clean every 30 minutes and that they care about sanitation (obviously a lie). I honestly couldn't tell how dirty the actual seats were, but it was a moot point as I only noticed how dirty the floors were after I sat down. We pretty much threw our clothes into the washer that night when we got home. Too bad this theater looks to not be maintained despite less traffic. I was really hoping it'll be passable so that I can utilize my Cinemark membership close by. Guess I'll have to continue driving 30 minutes to a decent theater. read more

Bayfair has the best popcorn in the Bay Area & a good selection of other refreshments. The employees are always nice & helpful. And they have improved with keeping the bathrooms clean after the kids & teenagers mess it up. Admission for $12.50 is also nice compared to $15 in San Ramon, Emeryville, and Pleasanton. I always have a nice time at Bayfair. It is convenient and not too far to drive. read more

I was going to give this theater 2 stars due to teenagers being disruptive. Some teens seem to find it quite difficult to sit quitely through a movie. But thats something out of the businesses control. This location has a bus stop and a bart station directly across from it. Easy access for the youth. The arcade here is pitiful. The screening rooms itself are average. They are clean. Comfortable seats. Good audio. The concession stand has pizza hut pizza and dryers ice cream. They may sale starbucks but im not positive. ALSO, the parking lot is big but the parking spaces are not! I don't know who approved this lot but the spaces are built for toy sized vehicles. read more

We took in an early matinee today. Staff were friendly. Theater was clean and comfortable. Too many theaters are too warm these days, as a cost cutting measure at the expense of customer comfort.
