As many others said, we, too, were sheepish about going to this theater. Once I read Frankie J.'s review, though, I knew we had to go. We too believe in personal and community empowerment, and we respect Century's commitment to following the community's lead on whether or not to reopen. The ticket prices are very low, too, which compelled us to support this establishment with my dollars and not just in theory- they are offering something to the community that experienced such pain and loss. All that being said, I also felt the most secure I ever felt in a movie theater here. A year ago, I thought that maybe all movie security would be heightened in response, but nothing happened. Not in the theaters I went to. Not really. Here, though, there is a uniformed officer in the lobby and periodic employee walkthroughs of the theaters. That might sound distracting, but it wasn't. Other pros: 1- Seats were super comfortable since it is all new 2- There is a Starbucks, and the prices are only marginally more than a standalone Starbucks. 3- Only $4.50 for a matinee and $6.50 for evening. Take a deep breath, and choose to live into the goodness of community by visiting Century 16. read more

I went to this theater at least 3 or 4 times a week! It was right down the street from my house. You could get 10 movies for $10 if you pre-purchased. If they close this theater because of some asshole shooting it up then the community has LOST it's American Spirit! Close OFF that theater and put up a Memorial Wall at the entrance of Theater 9 and build a massive I Max to the side in SPITE of that evil bastard!!! I LOVE the people of Colorado and it would hurt me terribly being MY neighborhood and MY theater to see Century 16 close! This is by far my favorite theater. The prices are amazing, and they always have been, even prior to the sad events that happened here. The staff are friendly, the options at the snack bar are AMAZING!! The typical popcorn, pop, they have Icee, candy sold by weight, nachos (even a deluxe version), pretzel nuggets (with cheese sauce). This is all self-serve. Then they have Dreyer's ice cream, and Starbucks coffee items. These are not self-serve, but by far this is the greatest theater in the Denver area. If you use the phone app Cinemark, then you can earn rewards for keeping your phone on silent, not answering, not texting, etc. Which you should do anyways. The expiration date on the rewards is short lived, but it encourages you to come back to an inexpensive theater with all the newest movies out. I was expecting to wak into this theater and have my shoes stick to the floor and have to wipe down my seat before I watched my film. I was so pleasantly surprised to find that not only was the theater clean, it was crazy CHEAP. I have not paid so little for a movie in the last 10 years. I saw a matinee for $4.50, no, you're not misreading and I did not mistype that. They also serve Starbucks. The concession counter guy made the most awesome white chocolate mocha for me. This is definitely my favorite theater to go see new releases or midnight premiers at. Sure, it's a bit of a drive from my capitol hill neighborhood, but it's totally worth it. Movie tickets are the cheapest you'll find anywhere, typically about 6 dollars for an evening ticket. Since it's right next to the aurora mall, I thought it might be a bit of a seedy crowd before I started going here, but the crowd is consistently just fine. I've never felt unsafe whatsoever at this theater, even if I go solo. read more

I think that many people have avoided going to this theatre due to the horrific event that happened in 2012. Although I was hesitant at first to come to this theatre after the incident, I remembered all the good memories I had coming to this theatre before that event occurred. I visited the theater two years after that tragedy and I still frequently go to it. It's very clean, and I really love the modern look to it. The staff are nice and the prices are great. Their matinee is great as well, so I usually go during those hours to get the best deal. I definitely understand if you are still hesitant to go to this theater but if you have just a little bit in you to go and try it out, I don't think you'll be dissapointed read more

My 3rd rewrite... Cinemark has hands down the best Closed Captioning system. The most shows with CC and the easiest interfaces. At AMC you usually have to wait 2 weeks before a popular movie is available with CC. As I need CC to get anything out of a movie, this alone is worth 5 stars. The single aisle toward the exits made my return to the newly reopened theater unnerving given recent events, though. Great staff. Average popcorn. But the popcorn might have been fresher if I wasn't literally the only customer they had. I know there's a lot of unresolved issues in our community, but let's not allow one idiot from California to rob us of the best CC theater in the region. read more

Great theater! Always clean and relatively uncrowded, and the seats are pretty decent. They're not the huge recliners in some theaters, but their matinee prices are $4.50! $4.50 I said! That's half the price of most others. The best thing about this place besides the price? The snack options. I can't list them all because I honestly can't count them all, but there's a lot. They have all the standard stuff but then so much more. Love it. They also have a pretty sweet deal in January where if you buy a bucket of popcorn and a soda and keep the bucket and cup t bring back again, they'll fill them up for half price. read more

We live real close to this place so it becomes a great spot to grab a flick. The lobby is huge, and they have enough theaters to spread out and accommodate the big crowds that the area can service. I like their prices, they have friendly staff, and the flow of the theater is well organized. We will keep coming here for a flick when the mood takes us. read more

I like to live dangerously, so I visited this place, since I was already staying in Aurora. There were cops hanging around and walking back and forth. The matinee was only $4.50 so that was a great deal. The Cinemark special is if you buy a tub of popcorn, it is $6.50 and as long as you bring the tub in, it is $3 until Jan 2015. The same applies for the drink, but if you drank that much soda, you make have to make a couple of pitstops during the movie. The theater seats were pretty nice and looked like new leather seats similar to the brown BMW leather seats, but more comfortable. We saw Wolf of Wall Street which was a great movie and the sound/picture was great. When I was leaving, I asked a cop which theater has the shooting, to which he replied, he doesn't know, he was around when it happened. I followed up with is there a section closed off, to which he replied that they refurbished all the theater rooms. Can't beat the bang for the buck. At this point, it is probably the safest theater with the cops constantly patrolling it. read more

Although I seem to forget to check-in here, I consider my self a semi-regular, as I average a visit a month. I have only seen movies here on the weekdays, and for the most part during the day. I have never had a problem with a sold out movie or getting a good seat. The price is phenomenal at only $4.50 before 6 pm. I don't remember the cost for the tickets after 6 pm, but I am guessing it is still relatively inexpensive. Food prices are average, and I recommend the super nachos (cheese, chili, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa). One of the reason this theatre did not get five stars is due to the service at the concession stand. The set up is not very user friendly and the last few times I have been there, service has been incredibly slow. The theatre itself has been clean each time I have gone. Seats are comfortable and the arm rests lift up, which is nice if you are on a date. Bathroom (ladies) were clean and well kept. No, you're not going to get mugged in the bathroom (unless you're really dumb). You can't beat the ticket prices here. Incredibles 2 was half the price of all other theaters. As for the experience, it was easy to just walk in with our confirmation code on the phone. Popcorn is $9, but tickets are cheap. As to the other patrons of the theater, well, management can't really control that, however, there should be some way of getting crying kids to leave. read more

Went here recently for the $4.25 movie Tuesdays (all Century Theaters have discount Tuesdays, this one happens to be near work). Fairly recently renovated, and the theaters are lettered, not numbered anymore. During the film an usher would come in (I think in rounds, as it was about every 10 mins), and walk up the stairs, and then dip across the screen to push on the emergency exit. I know this theater wants people to feel safe, but it was a little unnerving, and distracting (but the usher was trying to be discreet, I know). I would go again because $4.25 movies! Just went to see The Nun. Theater G. The exit lights at the front of the theater were shining on the screen. Strike one. People were talking and answering their phones with no regard for others watching the movie. Strike two. The final straw.....there was some sort of construction going on the other side of the screen. Banging through the movie. When I asked at the front desk, the guy with a tie (I assumed a manager) said he didn't know what they were doing but it was construction. Strike three. I want to give 5 stars but cleaniness of theater seats was slightly off with gum stuck to the arm of one chair and a used napkin it the cupholder that I had to remove myself. I like the Century company. I guess that they are not the most fancy theater, but they have what you need. Their stadium seating is the same as others and their seats are comfortable. This theater happens to have good prices, too. The best thing about Century theaters, and this one in particular, is that they have great food selection. It's not just Junior mints, popcorn, and Coke. They have a much wider selection and have even been known to have scooped ice cream. As long as there are good seats, a movie theater is fine. Okay.. let's start with the good and integrate into the bad.. First of all, I would like to say that I like the new renovations as of sep 25 2018. The new recliners with electric foot rests are a great amenity, they also have built in heaters too. But a sweaty bottom and lower back isn't really my cup of tea lol. I Have to say that these guys really though it through. The aisles are very roomy, you dont have to do that awkward shuffle past people anymore to go use the bathroom anymore. So that's a plus. Now the bad... these guys have decided to introduce assigned seating. (Sporting event style) like "I bought a ticket for seat D3 so its mine." While this might have looked good on paper... it is a Horrible idea. Tonight sucked. I came to watch Venom and it really took me out of it when some juveniles sat in the wrong seats and the usher was called to remove them. Very Distracting. Standing in front of the screen. A couple weeks ago when I watched Predators. The same thing happened, someone sat in the wrong seat and this time a Latina Woman and her Kids made a huge deal out of it. She wouldn't shut up about the person being in her seat. And the usher was called Mid ways through the Beginning of the film. -I have a Suggestion. Either put a couple ushers inside the theater for the first 10 min so they can direct people to their seats or Scrap the whole idea. Let people sit where they want. This place is hyper-ghetto. The concession stand makes no sense - its set up sort of cafeteria style but also sort of has lines. We waited there for 5 minutes because we didn't realize we were standing in the wrong place. The staff is just a bizarre mix of people that lack social skills it seems, The tickets aren't super expensive, though. I've been to this theater ever since I was little. There has been some changes to the theater and atmosphere is okay. Its sad what happened here but the prices are amazing. The staff are really kind and there are several police that checks around the theater. But I would say that the theaters are somewhat dirty. read more

Value is really good but oh my god the chairs are the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat in. My lower back hurts so bad I can hardly move. They don't go back easy and are rounded. We went to the movies at another theater and it was 13$ for a senior citizen! The seats were cramped and the staff not that friendly. We came here to the Century Aurora for a Sunday date for a 4:30Pm movie....our pair of tickets were less than one ticket at the other theater. The staff was friendly....the seats were easy on my senior arthritic knees/back...I enjoyed myself. It was a good date for my husband and me. thank you for being close, being reasonably priced, being comfortable and for feeling like a friendly, safe place after the tragedies of the shootings. Saturday 23 7:15 pm 2018. Theater air conditioning was incapable of handling the scale of movie goers. So blindly sat after payment in a theatre of temperatures reaching 80 degrees. Do not pay to watch a movie a sweat because the theatre needs to fix the air conditioning. Several Aurora City Police ‍ are in the theatre and simply do not care about the citizens who are sold a ticket at my estimate 10 x. 240 seats per show time. Children and specifically infants were in the theatre sweltering. Go to a different theatre until they get their facility up to public standards. read more

I enjoyed the reviewer who said theater nine should be turned into a memorial and have an imax next to it. It's honestly a great idea. I was splattered with birdshot in that particular theater (ironically named XD) and I find it weird, almost CREEPY, that many people are still sitting in that theater enjoying movies with no respect for the dead. People are pretty desensitized, I guess. I am cynical so I don't believe this stuff about "for the community"; I kind of think the theater stayed open so the owners could make money and that doesn't sit well with me after all the blood I saw the last time I went there and some freak shot me and killed a dozen people. I have gone back to the movies since, but I will continue to boycott that theater. Movie tavern is just as cheap and has great food to go with it and I now live near a cool imax theater. Why would I go back when I have those options? Kudos to those who have a moment of silence before walking in, though the cynic in me still thinks this is consumerism trying to masquerade itself as doing something for the community. Meh. Also the outside remodel is hella ugly, even after getting mutilated there I still loved the way it looked before and it's cute that they think it'll make people forget. Regardless, if you want a cheap theater and get your jollies off knowing you're potentially enjoying the latest romcom with the ghosts of dead children, this is the place to be! You know why I love this theater? It's the cheapest place to see new releases. Matinees (shows before 6pm) are $4.50. Shows after 6pm are $6.50. Another plus is that they keep the place clean. No sticky carpet or garbage/popcorn all over the place. The bathrooms are well tended, too. Unlike Denver Pavillions and Colorado 9, which are closer to where I live, the parking here doesn't suck. Century Aurora is my neighborhood theater. You can't beat the prices and since they have 16 screens they are always showing all of the big blockbusters. The matinee prices are $4.50!!! Full price for adults is also much, much cheaper than any Regal or AMC. The concessions stand is a cafeteria style stand where you move down a line with products to grab on both sides of you. If both sides of the concessions stand aren't open for business it can get backed up quickly so make sure you have time to wait in line. They have the regular movie theater concessions. Their popcorn is alright, not my favorite but it's popcorn. They have a few extended items for the stand including Starbucks coffee products and ice cream. Their super nachos are my favorite but are so big I have never been able to finish them. It was remodeled a few years ago and is much more comfortable now! All stadium seating with high backed leatherette seats. The picture and sound are both much improved since the remodel as well. The only complaint I have is that the restrooms are ALWAYS dirty. I know it has to be hard to keep an eye on payroll while having the restrooms checked every once in a while but they often looked very neglected by cleaning crews. Maybe figure out a set schedule for them to be checked? Even with the backed up concessions line and the restrooms, the prices will keep me coming back! read more
