I've been a paying customer of CENTURY LINK Landline Telephone Service and CENTURY LINK Internet Service since August of 2021. I used the AUTO PAY system for over 4 years -- which means my payments were always on time. We moved from our Star, Idaho residential address -- 10 minutes away to an Eagle, Idaho residential address. I began the process of transferring my existing Landline Telephone service, one whole month IN ADVANCE, to make sure there would be a seamless transition with no interruption of service. Since that time, I've had NOTHING but one headache after the next with Century Link. No one within the Century Link Company is able to give me a straight answer or an intelligent explanation as to WHY service at our new residence still hasn't been established???? Obviously, it's because they SIMPLY CANNOT period. Obviously they do NOT provide service where I now reside. Why can't they just SAY this? Why can't they just give their customer a straight and honest answer???? Instead, they've been stringing me along for over 2 months now. Meanwhile, the TELEPHONE NUMBER THAT I DEPEND ON, remains in limbo. I've tried to PORT my phone number and Century Link ABSOLUTELY REFUSES accommodate this request. I have 5 pages of notes from the numerous calls I've made including the various dates and various names of different representatives that I've spoken to. BOTTOM LINE: The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing over there in "CENTURY LINK-LAND". What a sad and truly messy situation they must be in right now. I would hate to be employed by a company that has infuriated their customers to this extent. Their Internet was good after I moved to my house. When they switched me to quantum fiber, it went down hill. Century link without warning or notifying me, sent $204 to collections. Their customer service is poor and their Internet before 2022 was hit or miss. Their quantum fiber is good awful internet. It works 40% of the time every time. I would not recommend CenturyLink to my worst enemy, it's not worth ruining your credit for Internet. read more

I've been a CenturyLink customer for over 5 years, paying my bill on time every single month. When I recently moved less than one mile away from my old address, I called just one day after my new billing cycle started to transfer service. That's when I was told they don't even provide internet at my new address. Frustrating, but I tried to be understanding until they told me they wouldn't refund a single penny of the payment I just made for a full month of service I can't even use. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable, just basic fairness. To make things worse, both Jeremy C and another representative were shockingly rude and dismissive. When I called them out for their attitude, they actually defended their behavior, saying they "know how to treat customers" because they've "been in customer service for 17 years." I was stunned that's exactly what good customer service should not look like. After five years of loyalty, this experience made it clear CenturyLink doesn't care about their customers only about policies and payments. I'll never recommend them to anyone again. If you're considering signing up with them, don't. Save yourself the frustration and find a provider that actually respects the people paying the bills. read more

Awful experience. Once you finally realize -- after several calls and several hours on hold -- that this company is not interested in providing good internet service, and you decide to cancel, ... they add more charges, (mine was for "inside wire" service, whatever that is), which enables them to add a late fee when that is not paid. Then they continue charging you fees and surcharges on the balance, call you but won't let you talk to a supervisor, won't let you discuss the bill with anyone who has the authority to make adjustments, so they blackmail you into paying the trumped up balance. Hands down the worst internet service I've ever dealt with. Deceptive, predatory, and borderline fraudulent. If you're foolish enough to sign up with these snakes, do yourself a favor and use a burner card, because they will lie straight to your face about canceling your service and then continue charging you for months afterward. Their soulless, useless AI chat bot will happily claim your service is canceled while your bank account keeps getting drained. Trying to reach an actual human? Forget it. Calling customer service just dumps you into a prerecorded loop that shoves you right back to the same broken AI before hanging up. If I could give zero stars, I would. We are on day 20 without Internet service even though we live in a downtown Boise apartment with CenturyLink fiber installed in our unit. We have been on calls with countless reps, our property managers are involved, and nothing has been resolved. This is hands down the WORST customer service I have ever experienced, which says a lot given that my husband and I have lived in 10 states. I should not be surprised since they have 1.2 stars out of over 300+ customers on Yelp. I have been trying since May of 2025 to switch my account to paperless billing (not to be confused with autopay). I have yet to receive any notice via email that my monthly bill is available to view and pay. I have spoken to a representative on 3 separate occasions to get this corrected, all to no avail. I have paperless billing for all of my other household accounts, and have not had any issues with those. Century Link just can't get this right.... read more

Here's the tea with CenturyLink I purchased their services, and the fastest installation date was set for 2.5 weeks away. I had a trip planned so requested a sooner date. They then scheduled it for 4 weeks later. After waiting a month, the tech arrived to install at 9am. He looked around outside then proceeded to tell me "You're better off going with our competitor Sparklight. I don't have the tools to take care of this today, but I can call someone else, and we can have you set up in a few days" I called Sparklight and they took care of me immediately and scheduled me a tech within the next few days. After that call I reached out to CenturyLink for a refund. I was then asked to return the modem (that I never received) to avoid fees. The amount of braincells that died while trying to work with CenturyLink is not worth your time or energy. Look elsewhere. read more

I have had CenturyLink since 2016. My service keeps cutting out and I believe the modem is just old. When I tried to call CenturyLink all I could get was the automated nonsense. Finally got a real person, and he said my account had been 'red flagged for suspicious activity', and that a www.gambling site was connected to my debt card! How could he even track something like that! I hung up and called my bank. After 2 hours, I finally found a local number, and surprise, surprise, the number would not go through! After looking at all the reviews, comments, and trouble I have had with CenturyLink, I am cancelling the service any finding another internet provider! read more

Poor internet service provider. Used them for a couple years. We never got close to the data speed that they advertises. It was usually 32-46 mb/s. Regular down times. The "support" was lots of time on phone trees and being placed on hold. If we got to a human they'd eventually tell us that someone would call us back. We were never called back. I'm searching for a different ISP and have realized that several of the companies listed on-line are just sales fronts for re-branded Century Link service. Looks like any service that come into the house via the old telephone copper lines are Century Link, regardless of what company name they are using. Our conclusion is that Century Link misrepresents their ISP service. They do all they can to maximize their monopoly of the old telephone line infrastructure, and do a little as possible to provide a quality service. read more

In January, I discovered CenturyLink was charging me a higher monthly fee even though I have a lifetime rate guarantee. So, I went through the extremely painful process to reach a live person and then, English was not his first language. Hey, kudos for him to have learned a second language but hey, CenturyLink that does not mean he'll be great at providing solutions to Americans that he struggles to understand and that can barely make out what he's saying. In the end, he promised he had corrected their error and here-on my charges would resume back at the rate I was promised for life! Nope, come February two things were made clear: My refund was not applied and my rate was not restored at the Lifetime rate. This review is based on numerous negative experiences for multiple businesses that we have Wifi and a phone line set up for. This company is a disgrace to humanity and should be burned to the ground, I hate them with a passion. There's constantly issues with interruptions, phones going down, etc. if you're fortunate enough to connect to a human being when you call customer service, all they do is continue to transfer you to the next person and pass the baton so they don't have to deal with helping you. They will absolutely refuse to send out tech support unless it's a life or death situation. I'm convinced they only hire customer service reps who are borderline on the spectrum. I paid to get internet with then and have a technician come out and install the device and etc. They told me they didn't have a technician available for a whole month and possibly more. So I asked them so what am I supposed to do for a whole month or more. I even asked for a refund but nobody was able to help me get that. Everytime I called it felt like I was calling a call service from the country of India because nobody was able to speak good plain English with me and I couldn't understand them on their end. They kept telling me they'll look into my account over and over again and kept apologizing over and over again. I was close to calling headquarters or go into centurylink and have them refund me. I finally managed to speak to one of their supervisors who was American and spoke English and they gave me my money back and cancelled my account. Please be aware of what you're getting into. Centurylink is not what is advertised on the internet or television. It's all BS money scammer internet provider company who does not care about you at all. You can get help because they close at 5pm When most Americans work 8-5 or 9-6 which is odd they close so early and don't have a 24 hour service call or tech available. Wife and I are moving to west Meridian from out of state. CenturyLink online said our address had fiber so we called to set up services. Customer service rep was the worst service representative I have ever experienced. He was argumentative, talked over me multiple times, and he tried to convince me that 60mb/s would be enough for my family with 2 parents working from home and 8 devices. He continually interrupted me and I had to say,"at this point you are being argumentative, are talking over me, continually interrupting me and now you are wasting my time so I am going to hang up." I will call back and talk to another representative but that will only be after I try sparklight and satellite options. Internet was down and was told it was the optical outside so I needed a technician. He came early and cleaned all of the optical wires and then replaced my inside modem with a better one within 45 minutes, no trying to talk me into other services, ask me to pay for anything, it's been the only good Internet cable experience I've ever had and it was great. No communication from the company, no reimbursement from the company and no plan on improvement. I haven't even lived here for 2 months. My service has already gone down twice. This time it's been down for 2 days already. When I called the first day, they said it would be fixed by 8pm that night (day 1). I call again today, and they're saying it won't be fixed until tomorrow at 9pm at best. So 3+ days without internet. I run a business from home and having no internet costs me a significant amount of money each day. To go down for an hour or maybe a few hours is manageable. To go down for DAYS is ridiculous. People I've spoken to have told me not to expect it to get any better, so I imagine this is common. Explains the solid 1 star rating on here. Not the fastest speed out there and can't do any better than 60 mbps download in my area, even with 2 DSL Lines. Service went down twice in one week Service Tech scheduled between 10 am and 5 pm, Stayed home all day, (waste of my time!) and the tech never did show up until randomly showing up the next day to tell me he had fixed the issue. I moved to another provider and canceled my service. However, even though I canceled 4 days into my billing cycle, Century Link is still billing me for the the whole month because "they don't prorate their billings" This company is the worst and a rip off! read more

I have been on a price for life contract with them for $25/month for 12yrs of basic internet... only reason I have stayed. Worst customer service experiences in my 44yrs of life. Worthless AI chat bots, automated phone call loop for an hr to reach ANYONE on the phone. Let alone the right person. Representative was rude & stated that there was an error when we billed you more than we should have & we will credit it back next month. Not immediately, but the next month. Asked why this happened & she said it happens to a lot of customers, all the time. So they steal your money & then wait a month to refund you & that's only if you catch it. (Not sure the spelling of her name) My issue I live in Las Vegas, Nevada I received an email stating I owe $517.82 for services that were disconnected in Alamosa Colorado, I confirmed with my son his internet is active plus he provided me a screen shot of a payment made in June to CenturyLink. I was furious thinking Century Link was double dipping two people for the same address. I had the Better Business Bureau website up to file a complaint. once I explained my situation to Dan. November 2021 i called to get a quote for my son who resides in Colorado, if Christopher (my son) has to pay a deposit due to his credit, I don't mind setting up the account under my name, when Christopher gets off of work later that evening, he will call Century Link to set up an account, if need be they can call me on a 3way call, if I need to put the account under my name. The supervisor I spoke to that day confirmed no account will be set up until Christopher calls CenturyLink. The supervisor took it upon himself and created an account under my name without my approval, not only that he put the street number incorrect. After Dan confirmed my son Christopher has an active account plus the account set up under my name was set up incorrectly. CenturyLink credited the past due balance of $517.82, Century Link will update the credit bureaus! Dan should be promoted to the escalation department by the way he presented himself as I was furious with the previous rep hanging up on me and thinking CenturyLink was double dipping on the same address. Deceptive pricing..."Lifetime" pricing I signed up for lasted only six months, then jumped by $10...so, I should be dead after 6-months? When I closed my account after six months, they closed all of my billing too...naturally, I thought all had been paid, since my account was an autobill...NOPE! How was I supposed to even know there was a bill to pay when I received NO notification or statement until it was past due and they charged a late fee of $18.00!!! This is just a review of my most recent interactions with Century Link. Although I've been having issues with my internet service for a long time. Last week I took advantage of their current promotion for fiber optic internet service which raises the speed from 100mbs to 940mbs. To do this they have to come & install a new router. This was scheduled for 8-5 today. At 4, after waiting all day, I called only to be told it was put on hold because of some engineering issue. No call. I do not understand how a company with such poor service can still exist. I was talked into trying CL again after many years under the guise that their systems were improved due to a fiber optic network, and a new customer service team. Such a waste of my time. After 4 hours on the phone the other day, I was talked out of cancelling with a discount and a guarantee that a technician would come to my house sometime today (seriously, there should be a smaller window of time). They never showed up. I tried calling customer service at 5 pm, as they are supposed to be open until 6 pm. I should also add I tried calling a bit earlier and was told that someone would be there by 4.59. When I called at 5, they were not available. Apparently it was after hours. I can appreciate they may be short staffed, thus cutting hours. Their messaging and website should reflect this. I did receive an automated message that the technician was not able to lay a line to our house. This is a line of crap, because no one ever came. I reached someone on chat, and was told they are actually trying to fix it remotely. This is the worst phone provider I have ever done business with. After a few years of living with their poor quality DSL I first cancelled my service in late 2022. But I kept getting bills. I called them and was informed that this was a mistake. But I kept getting bills. And in early 2023 I received an email from them thanking me for signing up for new service(???) I called them again and was informed that they had a large outstanding balance for service despite my cancelling. At the time I paid this just to get rid of them. And sure enough, in early 2024 I start getting emails from a debt collector that told me I ***STILL*** owed them money. This company isn't a phone company. It's an infectious disease. They've managed to make every other phone company I've ever worked with look good...no mean feat! read more

For 10 years now everytime it rains we have no phone or internet. Techs come out- some say the line down our street is old and they make a bandaid repair. Next time it rains it's out again. I never get a discount. I went to their website using my cell phone and get a message that a tech can't come until next Tuesday. I try to chat and I'm 6th in line! They should be reported as not taking care of their customers like they did in Oregon years back. Piece of crap company. I'd quit them but my 91 year old father needs a home line. Similar experience to another reviewer. Got everything setup to get fiber optic through CenturyLink. Received numerous emails regarding tech coming on 3/6/2023. No technician showed up. Chatted and was told they would call 3/7 or 3/8. Next thing I received was a text saying the order had been cancelled "Unfortunately, we are unable to provide CenturyLink service at your location, and therefore, you Service Order XXXXXXXXX has been cancelled...". What a load of bunk. My neighbor directly behind me has fiber optic through CenturyLink and my neighbor down the street has fiber optic through CenturyLink. I think the tech didn't want to deal with it, got behind on orders and cancelled the ticket. Conveniently, CenturyLink cancelled the account I was asked to create to keep track of when the technician would be here. This makes it impossible to contact to ask for details. How convenient for CenturyLink. Is this even legal? I would sure like to know why CenturyLink is discriminating against me when clearly they are providing service to my neighbors. read more

Cenurylink absolutely sucks!!! Do not use them you will regret it. I have been with them for way too long about 8 years. I have cancelled their services and I am going with another carrier. The straw that broke the camels back is this. I have been paying via electronic means through my credit union from the beginning. As of recently they lost one of my monthly payments and shut off my long distance due to the missed payment in their system. My credit union provided me with a screen shot of centurylink receiving the payment. When I provided centurylink with that info they did a payment investigation on it. They finally found it and said they would reinstate my long distance. That was over three weeks ago. I run a business and have had for 25 years this year. I need my long distance to contact my customers that I have all over this country. I now have over four hours in talking to various representees with century link. Several times I have been hung up on. None of the people I spoke with had good English and I had a real problem with understanding several of them. Time and time again after they found my missing money they lost somehow in their system? They promised my long distance would be reinstated to which it is still not active. At this point I would not even leave a one star review because because they SUCK that bad!!! read more
