Went here on a Saturday night and it was happening! There was a live band playing and it was a a good time with a great Irish pub vibe. People were singing along to the classic covers being played, some were playing uno with friends, darts with a date and others just having a good ol time! The drinks are amazing and I tried the hazelnut Irish coffee (totally recommend) and the one with grand manier, it was good too! They do have popcorn, but this is such a great place to go after a dinner! Bring your friends and have a great time! The staff was super fabulous as well! Always making people feel welcomed!

I have dropped by Ceol a few times in the last month and I can see it being a regular spot to get a drink, hang with friends, and listen to some live music. The place can get packed and having a conversation is probably not on the agenda unless you plan on shouting, which a lot of people do. The staff is so friendly and stop to chat with you as they make their way from table to table. Parking is only on the street and I usually end up walking a block or two. My favorite seasonal drink is the hot apple pie.

This is another one of my top 5 bars if not my #1 bar in Reno. The atmosphere here the absolute best, Ron the owner and all his staff actually care about everyone and we come here at least a few times a month to hang out. This is the place we come to relax and enjoy our time. We legitimately even went to the Guinness factory in Dublin Ireland to get our Guinness pour certs to get hung in the bar. Another time I lost my corset in the parking lot and one of the staff remembered me and I got it back another day. This place is such a community, best drinks and best people I cannot emphasize enough. EVERYONE NEEDS TO COME HERE!!! BEST BAR IN RENO!!!

Not one person here knew the "whiskey and water" quote form The Quiet Man! ONE STAR!!! But seriously, Ceol is always a joy to visit. Be it for a pint of the black stuff, or whatever other suitably Celtic libation you could be fancying. This is their new location, having moved a few blocks from the older spot, and it is certainly good to have them back. The bar still has a sort of small, cozy setting, but with a few new front and back patio areas, and set back a bit from the busy street, with the interior festooned with Irish flags and paraphernalia, a few bar games scattered about, and a stage for hosting the rotation of musicians who pass through. The tap list has all the staples you could want. Guinness, of course, is always a main attraction. But in case you don't want to wait a few minutes for a properly-poured-pint, the tap list includes things like Harp, Smithwick's, and several domestic and local brews. But these guys also shine in the rest of their bar menu. A superb selection of whiskey's, but that goes without saying. Wine, ciders, spirits, as well as cocktails and house specialties. I would highly recommend trying the Ceol Coffee, which is perfect on a nice chilly evening. Or if you want something sweeter, a small glass of Irish Mist is quite pleasant to sip on, if I do say so myself. I also need to tip my hat to the staff, who constantly provide very friendly, prompt, attentive service each time I swing through. Especially this past weekend, having visited on St. Patrick's Day. As you can imagine, this was one of the epicenters for green-garbed celebrations here in Reno, and the crew were doing a real bang-up job handling orders and managing the crowds. As for a few last odds and ends: Prices for everything are on par with most other pubs here in town, and there's a nice happy hour. No food options, except the popcorn machine. Parking is limited to only three spaces out front, but the surrounding neighborhoods have usually plenty of street spaces. And I would be remiss if I didn't make mention of their Beer Truck, too. In my opinion, they run the best beverage wagon in the city, though only in operation during summer food truck events or other such occasions. Not the biggest selection of drinks, though with a few beers along with usually some wine and cider, they nevertheless really excel in serving them up fast and keeping the line moving. Definitely seek them out this summer. All in all, it is easy to see why so many folks have such fond opinions of Ceol. For sure top marks all around, and will always look forward to heading back down for a pint and wee dram.

Ceol has moved! It's no longer on S Virginia; it's now on California, between Lander and Creek, quite close to Arlington. The bar is set back from the road, with a small parking lot with room for four cars in front. There's lots of street parking in that area as well as another small lot that you access from Lander. I prefer the new space to the old space: it's larger and more open. The bar area looks classic deep wood. There's lots of seating inside as well as outside in the front and back areas for when the weather is nice. Quiet dogs are permitted in the bar. Ceol regularly changes their special mixed drink offerings, which are enticing. Yes, I would like a warm wintry beverage with lots of liquor and cream! There is also an ample beer and wine menu. Friends with varied tastes can drink happily together here. I am part of a running club that meets here on the 5th Wednesdays of the month in the evening, and I am so impressed with the service. We descend on the bar all at once after our run, but they slang those drink orders quickly. In my experience, the bartenders monitor the tables for empties and proactively stop by the tables to ask if patrons would like another round. When you're deep in group conversation but folks want more, this level of service is so appreciated. They will even cash you out and bring the credit card reader to the table! I am so glad to see Ceol thriving in this new instantiation. Highly recommend this gem that folks might overlook because the exterior is so unassuming.

Wonderful stop for after-dinner drinks. They have an awesome selection of whisky, draft beers and warm drinks. I recommend the Irish coffee and hot mctoddy.

It was busy tonight and good to see. We dropped in during happy hour, 4-6 everyday they are open and enjoyed a couple beers and a little whiskey. The service was friendly, the crowd lively and the beer selection very good. Haven't seen a Odell's 90 schilling amber on draft in these part before. They are still waiting on permits to have live music, but hopefully that will happen soon.

I needed a NON-gambling, quiet, neighborhood pub 2 hang out n w/o the feeling of b'n rushed. I looked on Yelp & found this place close 2 where I stay. Yay! I like non-filtered beer & they had 1 4 me (Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat). This place s great so far. It's early, but I'm not a late-nite person. There s live music several times a week so I look 4ward 2 that & it's not late. Tnx Yelp! :) read more

As bars in Reno go, I certainly like this one better than most. But if I'm comparing it to my all time favorite Irish pub in the US, The Field in San Diego, Ceol just can't match up. Nice enough atmosphere, good music, happy people, all the right beers on tap, and great selection of whiskies and whiskeys. But the yellow on the walls just kills the ambience, and the seating isn't so great. With a little improvement on the environment, I'd boost the rating. read more

Great real Irish bands/music and can't beat a perfect pour of Guinness ,friendly managers and staff awesome place to have a good night with your friends. Only down side is they don't serve food but you can order food to be delivered there or bring in your own. Besides that fantastic place ! read more

Great atmosphere, good service, darts available and really close to downtown. I am a big fan of Irish food and since they don't really have a menu of their own I would choose Foley's for a dinner location. But, as a bar, what they want to be, is amazing. packed most nights with a healthy ratio of men and women roughly my own age (about 30) and a few older guys, who love the service and bar itself. We decided to come here for a few drinks, we didn't feel like anything too crazy so my friend suggest this little spot. I'm usually a pale ale drinker so I started off with a good ol' Arrogant Bastard! Luckily we made it for their happy hour so our beers were only $3, which made us want to get another round. The second beer I had, had to be a Guiness, since we were in an Irish pub and all...it was truly one of the best pints I've had! If you're in the area and want to grab a nice cold beer, this is the place! read more

I came to this place while I was on vacation and waiting for my buddy to get into town. I went because of the great reviews, and couldn't have been happier with what I found. I showed up around 5:00 PM on a Wednesday and to my surprise I found out it was in fact Whiskey Wednesday. I forget what the deal was now, but it was either half off every whiskey, or a few bucks off. I had one bourbon and then an Irish whiskey the bartender recommended (good stuff). The atmosphere was great and the decor was authentic Irish pub. Long story short, the people at this place were awesome. I actually met two very cool people that ended up showing me around the city, which is by no means is the city portrayed in Reno 911. The bar is a short walk from the major casinos and well worth it. Make this your first stop before going to some crazier/more touristy places. read more

This is possibly the most authentic Irish bar in town. I have no idea why I think that, but this place just feels more Irish than other Irish bars. This is the only place I recall going where all of the bartenders know how to properly pour a pint of Guinness. They add a shamrock to the top, which I think is silly but it's a classy touch. To me, it also shows that they know what they're doing and take pride in their craft. This is a non-smoking bar, and it can be nice to be in a bar that's so clean and not smokey. If you're a smoker it's no big deal, just step out back. They have a great beer selection, bottled and draft. There's something for everyone. They have Harp on tap, meaning you can get a proper half and half. They've got a whole bunch of Irish whiskeys to select from. Great bourbon selection too. I'm not a scotch drinker but they've got a lot to choose from, including a bunch of single malts. This is a drinker's bar for sure. They also have a lot of bands and performers who come in and play traditional Irish music, which really adds to the fun. The service is awesome too. Don't go expecting dive bar prices, you'll pay a little extra to be at a place that isn't a dive. Not unreasonable at all though. It's not my favorite place to go drink in Reno, but I can't knock this place at all. I always have a great time and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Major kudos to the ownership, management and staff for doing such a great job. Every now and then it's a place I just have to go to. There's no other place in Reno like it. Oh and one more thing, Thursday night is quiz night. So the place is packed with 20 somethings playing a quiz game. So if that's your thing, go check it out and have a blast. If that isn't your thing, go on Friday instead. read more

We went on a Thursday night around 8 pm while Ceol's was having a trivia contest. In the back of the pub was a woman on stage who was barking out boring trivia questions such as "what is the largest pharmaceutical company in the US?" She was not entertaining or funny. In fact she was rude and made some obnoxious comments towards male customers. At one point she yelled at a male customer saying that he was being too loud while he was discussing an answer with the people at his table. Most of the people who were playing the trivia game didn't appear to be having much fun. The drink prices were fairly high. Although the pub wasn't very crowded, the bartenders and servers seemed rushed and they were not overly friendly. The only positive thing we could say about the pub is that restrooms were fairly clean. We didn't stay too long and left before we finished our drinks. We don't plan on going back! read more

Ceol is hands down the best Irish pub!!! I was there on a Saturday and the service was amazing. My friend and I had just sat down and the waitress was there in seconds and attentive throughout the evening. The owner even came to our table to make sure all was good!!! The bathrooms were super clean and so was the bar. Music and drinks were awesome-couldn't have asked for a better place to be and I can't wait to go back!!! read more

This is my favorite bar in Reno. The service is always friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond at times to help patrons find a line on their favorite drinks. I also like the atmosphere: some other bars around downtown are full of people on a mission to be idiots, sober or otherwise. They seem to forget Ceol exists..... This is not, however, the place you want to hang out right before a chemistry exam. The male professors drop by regularly for after work drinks. read more

I love this pub! It is a favorite between my friends and I. I particularly recommend giving their Thursday night trivia a go, and they also have fantastic live entertainment on the weekends. It is a great pub that feels more like a big family than your normal bar and it makes for a relaxing and enjoyable hangout spot. read more

About as authentic as you can find here in the states! The layout, the vibe, the culture and the staff are perfect! Came in the other day for the first time with a local buddy, met one of the bartenders (Wes), came back the next day and not only did he remember me but also my name! Highly recommended and definitely a regular spot for me when I come to visit the biggest little city! read more

These guys are the best!!! Their free appetizers on Fridays are always sooooo delicious!!! They don't serve food but I've ordered food and had it delivered there. I really like how they will pay for it then add it to your tab. Definitely my favorite pub in Reno!!!! read more

My husband I don't often go out to drink, but when we do Ceol's is the place we go. We love the atmosphere, the live music (Blarney's the best) and Ron the owner is always great to chat with. This is also the place we go when we want to go hang out with a few friends, we can have a drink, listen to some great tunes and still have a conversation. read more

Ceol is cool! I've literally been dying to say that to someone but, I will suffice for typing it out :( I really enjoy Ceol. I'll start with the beer and drink selection.. I'm pretty sure they have everything under the sun, and can make anything, which is always a huge huge plus for me (and anyone else who enjoys an occasional.. Or not so occasional drink!). We most recently came here for a caroling event during the holidays and I tried something new, a hot apple pie drink. So good! So good I looked up the recipe and make it myself from time to time now when I can't make it out here! Next, the bartenders. They are all super cool, laid back and knowledgable about their alcohol selection and really good at giving suggestions for people like me who haven't tried a ton of different drinks, and who is weirdly weird about trying new things. I love getting to come here, I love getting to bring my friends here, and I love getting a good tipsy on here! read more

Ceol is really a fantastic place, and I definitely plan on coming here more. We were here with (Irish) family the Friday night before St. Patty's and had a really great time. It seems there is often live music, on the weekends--makes a really nice ambiance, loud enough to hear but not interruptive to conversation or communicating with staff. Speaking of staff, they were awesome! We were warmly greeted by a server on the way in, happily served at the table, our waters were filled (really above and beyond) and the bartenders were quick, friendly and helpful as well. It definitely seems that the bartenders and server(s) have a nice relationship and share tips, etc. They have great beers on tap, always the Irish staples and our Deschutes favorites this time. Their whiskey list is impressive--organized by bourbon/American, Scotch, and (of course) Irish whiskeys, of varying type and price. The bar wasn't too busy until about 11pm... something else must have closed/ended because all of a sudden the place was packed! We were easily able to get a server's attention and close out though. We'll definitely be back soon! read more

Ceol still has the service many of the new, trendier bars are lacking, sad but true. After not visiting Ceol for a while I've returned. Excellent beer and whiskey selection plus relaxing environment. Bartender Andrew and server Jessica are both friendly and attentive. Did I mention weekend happy hour also?! read more

Great pub, Real relaxed environment and thier cidar is a glass of deliciousness. I love the irish pub feel and while it can get really loud in there its an overall good time. Staff is friendly; can't wait to go there again. read more

Wow, I came here because my super cool friend Hammy and his ex-Globetrotter love interest said it was muy tasterific and boy were they right! I loved it and drank a whole pitcher of the best Irish beer, Harp Lager, ON TAP! Only thing that could have made it better would have been a hammy sandwich......oh yeah!! read more

Ceol is a cute bar that has friendly service. This isn't a trendy bar, but a great place to have drinks with your friends.The waitress was very attentive and made sure we always had refills. Parking was easy, got a spot right in the back of the building. read more

Super friendly and fast service all the time. AND an excellent happy hour every day. They don't serve food on a regular basis, but every so often, you'll come in and find a splendid spread of free and delicious delights! I'd also recommend trivia on Thursday nights. read more

What really stood out for me was the non-alcoholic selection. It wasn't an afterthought. There were legit NA options beyond the usual one token choice, which made it easy to hang out and still feel included. The decor is part of the fun. It leans fully into the kitschy, slightly ridiculous bar aesthetic in a way that feels intentional and self-aware. There's a lot to look at, a lot to laugh at, and it adds to the overall experience rather than distracting from it. Easy place to post up, take it all in, and enjoy the energy.

It's definitely worth going on the weekend, just be prepared for busy mornings. We went around 11:30am and were seated right away. If you're a Benedict fan, this is your place. Their French Benedict, served on French toast, is unique and so good. The omelets are delicious, and the housemade corned beef hash is a must-try. Steak and eggs, amazing! The home-fries could be a little more crispier, but still hits the spot. They also serve really great burgers that are huge, along with some of the best French fries around. The bacon cheeseburger is delicious. And don't skip the Bloody Maria, they're excellent! Highly recommend this spot. Every visit has been a great experience.

This place is not too big outside but does have a nice outdoor area in front that I am sure fills up when weather is nicer. As the night went on the place got fuller but the vibe stayed cool and chill. The drinks were also very good. I got an old fashioned that was perfectly made and my wife had a Paloma that you could tell was made with fresh juice. The drinks were also reasonably priced for how good they were. If I ever find myself in that part of town I will not hesitate to stop by!

The 1859 mocktail was great. Perfectly sweet with a small hit of miso flavor from the miso honey. Probably even better and more balanced with the whiskey! Others in my group enjoyed working their way through the many light, dark, and sour beers on tap. 1864 offers a classic, relaxed atmosphere and a great place to get a cocktail. The prices are reasonable, too. Definitely worth the visit.

I saw so many people ordering them, and they looked absolutely delicious. Royce has a great atmosphere, great food, and easily earned a return visit from me.

3 friends & I were staying at Circus Circus & picked up a local events advertisement. We saw that Ceol Irish Pub had an Irish jam session on Tuesday night, August 28. We walked a mile south on Virginia Street & found the pub. It shares a building with a Starbucks. I was hoping for fish & chips but the pub does not have a kitchen. I don't drink (I was the designated walker, I guess). My three companions ordered a variety of beers & ciders. It was $3 a drink night. I enjoyed the complimentary ice water. There was a popcorn machine & that was a nice touch. The music was great. We stayed almost two hours enjoying the jam session. Several patrons volunteered to sing Irish protest songs. That was wonderful. The owner was hospitable & attentive. The bathroom was clean & spacious. The pub was clean & inviting. I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. If I lived in Reno, I would frequent the place for its music nights. They have a great web site. read more

I'm as Italian as a pizza pie, but I love Irish pubs, and especially Irish beers. Great, cheerful, friendly atmosphere and a wonderful selection of traditional Irish brews on tap. I'd avoid it on the weekends unless you like a crowd, but I love stopping here after work with some of the boys for a quick pint. read more

This place is definitely a great find in Reno. It has a nice homey feeling and when ever I go, they have a group of people on fiddles and other instruments playing music. I love it!
