Please! Do Not come here! I didn't want to write a review but was forced to after my crown of only two years pops out while flossing my teeth. First I was pressures to get the crown when I felt perfectly fine, no symptoms. NOTHING! She was said the filled cavity was "too big" so what?! I had no pain... until... she put the new crown, no root canal just a new crown. Struggling to even put it on... left a hunk of cement in between my teeth. I was feeling a lot of nerve pain that even shot over to the other side of my mouth. I called the dentist and they kept saying it was just an adjustment period. I've had crowns and this was never the case. Long story short they said they are going to refer me to a root canal specialist that goes to their office. Red flag! After a month of pain and waiting he ends up saying it's normal pressure sensitivity. Stupid me just wanting to not have a root canal drilled into my new crown( what kinda backwards dentistry practice is this! ) yeah! You heard that right! She was telling me I might need a root canal after she put a brand new crown on) the "root canal specialist" ended up saying I don't need one. Probably just covering for her....but I was just happy to get out of there. I was/am soooo traumatized... Now I need to find a new hopefully trustworthy dentist...ps I was so traumatized I have not gone back to a dentist since 2 years. The pain finally subsided after 6 months probably because my nerve endings finally died.... I'm so upset.... So much money wasted just cuz this greedy dentist wanted to make money on a crown that wasn't even needed in the first place. First red flag was the secretary was having me sign papers for payment before I was even out of the chair! Also, she suggested Invisalign which would have been another 3-5 thousand for two measly crooked teeth I have. Who cares?! I'm not trying to be a model... Awful awful praying on peoples vulnerabilities and fears when going to the dentist.. so hard to find a good one. like I said, I don't really want to write this review but after my expensive crown popped out after two years???!!!! A chipped tooth might not seem like a big deal to some people, but I was really worried -- and they completely understood that. I will not trust Dr. Jesmine Boghawala DDS, Dr. Ahmad Bajwa DDS, or visit Innovative Smiles in Cerritos, California ever again. My dentist at Innovative Smiles in Long Beach, CA advised me to get my wisdom teeth extracted and sent me to the partner office in Cerritos, CA. I made an appointment 6-weeks in advance of my procedure and cleared my financial responsibility to the office before treatment day. 1st Visit - November 24, 2025 4 pm Appointment Time: I arrived 15-minutes before my appointment time with my designated driver. The procedure was cancelled after I had already arrived because the office had not provided the required pre-operative instructions in advance of the appointment. The office said there was a mix up with my phone number, which is not possible since they were able to get in touch with me for payments and to confirm my appointment. 2nd Visit- December 16, 2025 4 pm Appointment Time: I followed my pre-operative instructions (12-hour fast), arrived 15-minutes before my appointment time, and was asked to wait 60+ minutes because the doctor was not ready for me at my appointment time. When the doctor took me to the treatment room he told me I would need an additional treatment that would cost $250 on top of the $2k+ I had already paid. He made remarks that the electrocardiogram was not working properly, and to disregard the noise from the equipment. He then proceeded to insert an IV in my arm 13+ times. I know it was at least 13 times because he counted the marks running up and down my arms right in front of me! He failed to correctly insert the IV after more than an hour and sent me home. 3rd Visit - December 22, 2025 8 am Appointment Time: I arrived fasted, 15-minutes before my 8 am appointment, and was not let into the office building until 8:20 am. Once in the office, the doctor set up the ECG machine and again attempted to insert the IV. The doctor stuck a needle in my black and blue arms, bruised from the previous visit, 13 additional times. The doctor failed to insert the needle into a vein in either of my arms, hands, or my ankle. The office secretary said management would be in touch and issue me a full refund. Management did not reach out to me upon my third wasted visit and they did not issue me a full refund that day. After numerous attempts to get in touch with management from my end, they offered to pay me back for services not rendered through a payment plan! After continuous follow ups, I received my outstanding funds on January 16, 2026. For a routine wisdom tooth extraction with sedation, a procedure any competent oral surgeon should easily be able to perform, I experienced: * Three appointments with no procedure performed * Multiple 90-minute round-trip commutes * Numerous working hours lost for both myself and a designated driver (as required per sedation protocol) * Repeated 12-hour fasting and preparation for procedures that never happened * Physical bruising on my arms, hands, and ankle After months of appointments, preparation, and follow-up calls, I was left with no treatment, unnecessary physical pain, emotional distress, and a significant loss of time and energy. Ive posted before about the situation I've had with this place. Since then Ive been in search of a new dentist and come to the conclusion that the quality of work at innovative smiles is sub par at best, so far 2 of the root canals that I've had done here i have to have re done at another dentist office on account of the first dentist not doing the root canal procedure correctly. So even now months after I've been here I'm still be screwed by the work that they've done. Horrible experience! This office demands that a regular cleaning (which is usually covered by insurance) also includes an "irrigation" of liquid antibiotics, which is over $100 out of pocket. You cannot turn down the extra antibiotics, or they will not do the cleaning. My insurance - Delta Dental - even has a whole page on their website about antibiotics and writes "The recommendation is that antibiotic prophylaxis is not necessary for most people, other than for certain cardiac or prosthetic joint patients who may be at the "highest-risk" for developing heart or joint infection". I am not at risk, not even low risk! I was also told that I have a small cavity that my other dentist probably didn't think was worth treating, but they wanted to do it anyway. More money grab! Mandating patients to use unnecessary antibiotics or not get a cleaning was enough for me to get up and leave. Beware! read more

While I know someone who is very satisfied with their service, I didn't have a great experience. The office was very clean and the front desk staff very friendly. However, there were a series of missteps that will have me looking for another new dentist. As a first time patient, I called in to make my first appointment. They said they had an openings that day at 3pm. That should have been my first red flag. I completed the first time patient paperwork online which I really liked (I hate paper forms) and was seen right on time. I was seated and the dental assistant then proceeded to take a lot of x-rays. I only started counting after like a dozen. I guess that I had about 30 x-rays taken/retaken. I have never had to take that many before in my life. It seemed a bit excessive. There is a reason they put that lead blanket on you, which I assume is to reduce the radiation to your body from the x-ray procedure. Then they left me in the room for a long time. I fell asleep but remember hearing 3 Guns and Roses songs. Unless they were playing the album or a playlist, it would take some time for 3 GNR songs to play. No worries, I was tired. I meet with the Dentist, who is a very nice lady, she recommended a new toothbrush and a waterpik but didn't explain why? They presented a dental plan with prices, but didn't give me a copy. Then I got a bill from them, but no procedures were done? The x-rays should have been covered by my insurance so I don't know what I am being charged for. I was referred here by a family member who was also a new client. I was initially quoted for a root canal of a cavity by a dentist that was later determined to not be by a hygienist who assisted me with my laser treatment cleaning and helped advocate for a second opinion. In addition to the lousy customer service received, we were told that after completion of the treatment plan that a referral bonus would be provided that was never followed up on by the office. I completed the treatment plan and attempted to receive the bonus in person twice and we were told they needed a manager to assist or that the gift card was not where it should be each time. We never received follow up or help from management directly regarding these issues. I was also advised they would not provide teeth cleaning without paying out of pocket for routine maintenance to include fluoride/irrigation when my family member was advised differently by another individual in the office. This is just another dental office looking to increase price for treatments that aren't necessary. I have never written a negative review for a business, but I want others to make an informed decision, as I have serious concerns about the transparency and quality of services here. *Please be aware that new patients are offered $5 Starbucks giftcards to write positive reviews (before billing and most services are conducted), so the reviews for this office are very inflated.* I was a patient at this office a few years back and in my experience, they were not forthright about costs, and insisted on upselling services like a deep cleaning. I was shocked when I received my statement, which was much higher than originally quoted, but I paid it in full. Months later I was contacted AGAIN and told that I still owed hundreds more dollars for the same services I'd previously paid for. I am still doubtful that the claim and billing were conducted correctly on their end. I paid over $1,000 out of pocket for basic services, cleaning and fillings. At a time when I was making very little income and working hard to afford essentials and maintain a reasonable budget, I was saddled with hundreds of dollars more than what I was originally told I would owe. I know this problem is not unique to me because I witnessed another patient making this complaint to the front desk while I was in the waiting room, as well as in multiple other reviews here. This is a concerning pattern. On top of this, three fillings done here have already fallen out and since been replaced with much better quality at another dentist. This is my first time to give this kind of review. My husband and I ended up at this dentistry because our new insurance assigned it to us (our previous provider was no longer covered). I scheduled an appointment for myself for a routine cleaning and for my husband to get a consultation about a loose tooth. After completing a long list of required information online, we arrived to find a very clean office, very nice front person. I was called to the room, people go in and out, I waited, then moved to another room, had X-rays taken, and spoke with a dentist who gave her recommendations. I made it clear I only wanted a regular cleaning that day. After more waiting and being moved again, I was finally told my "out-of-pocket" cost for a cleaning would be over $140. I was shocked -- I'm already a senior and for years I've never had to pay for a basic cleaning. Still, I agreed, expecting they would go ahead and do it. I waited again. Instead, I was told they "didn't have time" to perform the cleaning after all. Meanwhile, my husband was told he needed more teeth pulled than he had originally asked about, plus other procedures which felt unnecessary and aggressive. This entire experience made us feel like the focus was on maximizing charges rather than on caring for and saving our teeth. I later confirmed with our insurance company that I am entitled to two free cleanings per year -- so what they told me was perplexing. We decided not to return back. From the minute I booked my appointment with Thea she was very helpful and explained my coverage on a detailed manner. Melissa also was very helpful on explaining my coverage and the options that I have on my plan. Dr. Sarah Hadar is the best!! She is very gentle and makes sure you are comfortable throughout the procedure. Another thing I loved about Dr Hadar was the way she speaks to her staff, she is very kind and respectful to them, I work in the medical field and that's something you don't see everyday. The assistants Marlene and Addi were very helpful and welcoming, they also made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. It is my understanding that they should have contacted Delta Dental for authorization. I have put in a claim to be reimbursed by my insurance provider. After only one visit, I will not be going back. I was told I had multiple cavities, which was surprising since I've never had a cavity in my life -- a fact confirmed by several other dentists. They presented an aggressive and expensive treatment plan that would have cost me thousands of dollars. The overall approach felt more focused on upselling than on honest care. I chose not to return after the first visit, but they've continued to contact me despite my decision. New pt here with new insurance wanting a simple cleaning to take advantage of the new plan before the end of the year. I already had two cleaning for the year and an XRS from my previous dentist that is 40 minutes away from me. I thought I'd give this place a try since it's close to home. I get to the place with all forms filled out prior to arrival. I wanted to opt out of x-ray. At first, they told me to obtain x-ray from previous dentist and it would be sufficient. Turns out, it didn't matter. That they needed to get a new set since it was necessary for "billing purposes." Dr. Linda was great, thorough and knowledgeable. She told me why it would help her with the new set of XRS to help me. I thought we had a great plan. Rose comes in with her calculator and iPad telling me the breakdown of what was recommended for me. I told her that if possible to just have a cleaning that would be fully covered under my plan. She says that it was not the recommendation. She made me feel like I didn't have an option as a patient. It was all number$. I was straightforward with what I wanted and felt unheard. I came to Innovative Smiles at the end of June because I had chipped a tooth (in the front). I had been on disability for over a year and had neglected my teeth considerably. They were able to get me in right away and assess the damage. I needed a lot of work, including a deep cleaning, two root canals, 4 crowns in the front and a replacement bridge for the one I'd lost two years ago. It would be a considerable amount of money, but far less than I had imagined. Dr. Sophia was like an angel. She explained everything very clearly and assured me that she would make my teeth "beautiful." And she did.The process took several weeks with several visits. Iman did a great job on my deep cleaning. Those can be very unpleasant, but I didn't have any issues. The crowns and bridge match the rest of my teeth perfectly so you wouldn't know they weren't real unless I told you. When I went in to have them put in, Dr. Sophia wasn't happy with the fit. She said it wasn't "perfect." She ordered a new one and replaced it two weeks later. They all turned out beautiful. I thank them for what they did for me. I didn't realize how bad it made me feel about myself when my teeth were a mess. I didn't smile with teeth ever! Now I can. And I do. I have had so many compliments on the work Dr. Sophia did and I proudly show them off. All of the gals in the office are so nice and welcoming. They are professional but easy going. That helps those of us who have a lot of work to do. I've suffered crippling back and pain for years after 5 spinal surgeries. When I explained this to them, they bent over backwards to make sure I was always comfortable. They gave me a pillow to ease the strain on my neck and applied chapstick so my lips wouldn't dry out while they were working on me. And I love the music they play. I have been a patient at Innovative Smiles for over 3 years and will not be returning anymore. For the majority of my 3 years coming here, I have had PPO dental insurance which covered many of my dental work (annual cleaning, 1-2 cavity fillings, 1 wisdom tooth removal) and the service has been great. However, I recently have become unemployed and had to switch to my wife's dental insurance which is an HMO. Once I made my most recent appointment to get my annual cleaning, I was charged $89 as a "copay/new patient fee". The interesting thing is that my wife just had her cleaning done the same week by her dentist (not at Innovative Smiles) using the exact same insurance and there was no copay for her cleaning. This is unacceptable to charge for a standard cleaning that is already covered AND to charge me as a "new patient" when I have been a patient here for the last 3+ years. My only positives are the cleaning I have received from hygienist Gladys have always been thorough and consistent. I only recommend coming here if you have PPO dental insurance. I do not recommend this place. I had written a great review when I first visited in late 2021 but then I actually got work done... I cannot believe the exorbitant prices! I have dental insurance and many of my coworkers go get dental work with their families to other dentists with the same insurance and never have they been told it is a "discount plan". I was told that and then I had to pay over $300 on top of my insurance to cover a simple tooth filling. And it was not properly done. I have changed dentists because it is just too expensive. I also do not feel they should exaggerate or lie to anyone about their dental insurance. I made sure Delta Dental became aware of these tactics. Horrible experience I went for a route canal in late august , they verified my insurance (well according to them they did ) and did the procedure. Told me how much it would cost and I agreed. Now I get a bill for 900$ because they failed to check my insurance and turns out I have a 6 month hold . The receptionist did not check and I'm guessing when they tried to bill in September, they found out about the 6 month hold . I called my insurance and was told there is no reference number to any call made from them inquiring verification of insurance. Now they are ignoring my calls. This is so unprofessional and would not recommend anyone coming here because we choose our dentist because of our insurance benefits . It is their responsibility to verify insurance and inform the patient before moving forward with the procedure. read more

Not really impressed with this place on arrival my first visit (Sept 2018). Waiting room dated, tired and not polished at all. Kind of run down. Had an appointment but had to wait a long time for staff to arrive. (Like over an hour) which really irritated me. I felt uneasy there. The charges seemed high even though I had insurance.. The receptionist was pushy on several occasions including follow up calls. She explained the charges but they still seemed really high and the receptionist kept pushing me to spend money that I didn't really have at the time. Dentists didn't rally impress me at all.
