I have never felt so pampered and cared for by a dentist! The team/staff at this office were incredibly friendly and kind. First of all, the office is beautiful! It's super nice and modern. The chairs in the lobby made waiting (waited less than 5 mins) enjoyable. The next thing I noticed was the time the dentist (Summer) took to thoroughly explain everything she was doing and about to do. That alone put me at ease and I was relaxed throughout the whole cleaning and examination. What really separated this dentist office for me was the fact that they applied lip balm on my lips! I have always dreaded the dentist chair because of how dry and cracked my lips get because of how long the dentist needs it to stay wide open. Not only did they apply it at the beginning, but they also noticed half way through the visit that it had worn off so they applied it a second time! That's real care Lastly, I was given a care/goodie bag for being a new patient and it came with more than just the generic tube of toothpaste & floss. I was at a different dentist that said I needed a root canal. I didn't feel right about it and when I came to Barros Dental they showed me close ups of my x-rays and also zoomed in with a camera on my tooth. I was able to see my bad tooth, as well as every other tooth because the camera they were using on my teeth displayed on the screen in front of me . They are filling my very large cavity with the expectation to fully save me tooth. I feel disappointed my old dentist wouldn't do this, but so happy I came here. Growing up, I've had a positive experience with my childhood dentist but after my parents changed dental plans & dentists, I had one traumatic experience in high school with another dentist. Since then, I was very hesistant to go back to the dentist and waited until after I graduated college when I started my first job with dental benefits. I initially found one but when I came back for my 2nd annual exam, they appeared to have moved and I was again in search of a new dentist. I was referred to the Barros Family Dentistry by my cousin and ever since, I've been going back to them for my dental care needs. When I moved to the Bay Area, I told them I would return when I moved back to SoCal and sure enough, four years later, I was true to my word! This time, my husband began getting his dental care here with me too. Although Dr. Margaret had been my primary dentist in this office, I have been able to get care by all 4 Barros dentists and they all provide the same great service! It's been nice to see their dentistry grow from a husband & wife team, to their children too! Additionally, Irene & the rest of the front desk staff are all amiable and make you feel welcome when you come in. Their facilities have always been clean and since they moved into their current space, they've been able to expand and upgrade with state-of-the-art equipment. It's very comfortable and spacious! I really love this dental office! I've been going here for about a year now. It's important to know that they only accept PPO as an insurance for adults without Medicare. Fortunately, I had a really good insurance so I was able to see them as my dentist provider. But recently, I lost my PPO coverage and I had a dental cleaning coming. It is very disappointing to see that they advertise a $59 dental cleaning on the website but when you call and ask about it, they stated that they no longer include the dental cleaning with that cost. The $59 fee would include two dental X-rays but no dental cleaning. They stated that for $90 that it would include an dental cleaning, two X-rays, etc. Point is, it is very frustrating when a dental/medical office no longer offers the stated price for their dental cleaning with X-rays when it is clearly still be advertised to the patients... I really love the staff and dentists here but it is extremely frustrating to be told that the $59 non-insurance price no longer includes any dental cleaning but for $30 more, you can get our $90 coupon that offers that same deal:/ if you longer offer that advertised non-insurance price, Barros Dental should update that offer so that we aren't surprised by the sudden increase of the dental cleaning cost... read more
