The clerk, Elizabeth Arant, treated me with suspicion, disrespect, and zero compassion. She went out of her way to question and delay my paperwork, made extra photocopies of my ID for no clear reason, and spent 30 minutes walking around with my documents. Later, when I returned to check the status, I found out my license was never filed. To make matters worse, she sat nearby watching and smirking as I was told my marriage wasn't being recognized. It was cruel and unnecessary. As a county nurse myself, I work with people from all walks of life, including those incarcerated, and I would never treat anyone this way. County employees are supposed to serve the public with respect and professionalism -- not judgment or bias. I've tried for days to file a grievance and have been bounced from one department to another with no help or accountability. This experience left me devastated and completely disheartened. I hope the County takes this seriously because no one should ever be treated like this when they're just trying to get married.

Make sure to "check in" when you walk over to the PLANNING team or else you'll be waiting extra time for nothing. Once you sit with a rep in Planning for a very long time, then they send you back to LICENSING. This whole process is very slow and got me spinning in circles. Took 2 hours to file & get the planning division to approve my CHANGE OF ADDRESS!! OMG! Be patient and keep a cool attitude.

These people either don't have a clue how long it will take to send a package Priority, or they lie…read moreabout it. I had 2 fairly large packages to mail to Fairbanks Alaska. The postal clerk, who has worked there for many years, told me that if I sent them Priority that they would be delivered "in three days." Priority was very expensive, but I decided to go with that, and I paid over $156.00 to send both packages priority--over $75/package. I carried both packages in at the same time, so they were not that big or that heavy. I logged on to the website with both tracking numbers, so I could give my friend (who would have to drive through the snow) the best ETA time. I was stunned to see that the delivery time was actually going to be over 2 1/2 weeks, NOT the 3 days the clerk had promised. I went back down there today and met with the manager, who was just shy of utterly useless. He told me that despite the clerk's lie, that there was nothing they could do to "expedite" the delivery, and no, they would not issue any kind of a refund from the price I paid for priority, to "regular" delivery. What thieves. Fed Ex and UPS have their issues too, but at least when they give you an ETA for delivery, it is accurate; it doesn't take them four times the estimate they initially promised for delivery. It's even more galling that the PO charged me over $75 per package.

Had to mail another international package yesterday but this time I grabbed it to check the…read moredeclared value in the software printed out form their clerk typed in (data taken from my written customs form) They do not understand how their own software works and they don't check the declared total values to make sure they match. I shipped TWO items at $14.99 each- total value $29.98. Their software printed out copy of the customs form listed the total value as $59.96- because they input into their software incorrectly and it multiplied my total value of all items by the total NUMBER of all items AGAIN! ($29.98 x2) Just like my May package that ended up costing $73 in VAT even tho it was a gift under the £50 limit (6 items / $40 declared value by me- these idiots put $240 total value on their printed form cuz 6x40 ) This time I caught them and confronted the manager. What a waste of my time "If you check the gift box they don't charge VAT" she says- not true! The manager there doesn't know their OWN policies and refused to take any responsibility when confronted with their mistake or own the fact that she doesn't train her staff properly Check your packages like a hawk before you pay!
