Chief among these reasons is the complaint that the system is so inefficient. You have to spend all damn day sitting in the Jury Room waiting to see if you will be called for a jury panel. The inefficiency is irritating to the point of exasperation for many people. In the past, every time I've served I've overheard people saying, There's Got To Be A Better Way. Ok, you're not going to believe this, but they finally discovered a Better Way! For real, they actually fixed the inefficiency problem. You no longer have to wait around all day. These days when you are called you are assigned to either the morning (8-12) or afternoon (1-5) group. If you are not called to a courtroom, you are excused after your four hours. Now jury service is 4 hours, or one trial (should you be called to a courtroom and empaneled). OMG, what an improvement! And this morning there were no cases to be heard, so we were released at like 10:20, with full credit. Best jury service ever! We live in the richest country in the history of the world. Our lives are better than 99.99999% of all the people that have ever existed since the beginning of time. And the country doesn't really ask that much of us as citizens. I shipped TWO items at $14.99 each- total value $29.98. Their software printed out copy of the customs form listed the total value as $59.96- because they input into their software incorrectly and it multiplied my total value of all items by the total NUMBER of all items AGAIN! ($29.98 x2) Just like my May package that ended up costing $73 in VAT even tho it was a gift under the £50 limit (6 items / $40 declared value by me- these idiots put $240 total value on their printed form cuz 6x40 ) This time I caught them and confronted the manager. What a waste of my time "If you check the gift box they don't charge VAT" she says- not true! The manager there doesn't know their OWN policies and refused to take any responsibility when confronted with their mistake or own the fact that she doesn't train her staff properly Check your packages like a hawk before you pay! The writing on their printed out version of your form is teeny tiny but it's worth checking because they can't be trusted
