However, once the job was completed, I was billed $750 based on 6 hours of labor. Surprised by the unexpected cost, I discussed the invoice with the shop manager, Troy, who subsequently reduced the bill to $600. While I appreciated the discount, I still feel that $600 is significantly higher than what is fair and reasonable for this repair.

I visited the shop when she picked her vehicle up and I asked to see the old part, they supplied the old part and when asked what was wrong with it they said it had cracks in it, I guess they expected me to agree with there diagnostics but it clearly could have gone at least another 150,000 miles based on the condition it was in. this diagnostic would be like telling you to replace your 40,000 mile tires in 5000 miles.
