I typically don't do reviews. But, my recent smog visit fully explains what is contained herein. Sorry for the length. This review encompasses two back to back experiences after four HORRIBLE experiences from (OTHER) local Hemet smog shops. From my first steps onto the shop's property, Ramiro greeted me and we discussed the needs of my 1997 Volvo V-70 Station wagen, 156,000 miles showing on the odometer + check engine light on. He explained the process of how cars fail smog and that they would do their best to determine what ailed my car. In short-time, he called me with an explanation of what the problem was. In my nine-year ownership of my vintage Volvo, the failing component was a plugged-up, "purge-valve" that the other shops failed to determine. Having replaced the $35 valve, a few cracked hoses, plus accompanying labor, the car passed smog. The next week, my daughter's 97', Toyota Camry, 225,000 miles, passed smog. Comparably, the presence and cleanliness of the small shop is far superior to other shops. At opening, four mechanics were wiping cleaning and sweeping. Each was dressed in a clean uniform bearing their names. I liked the feel of the shop noting their specialty is high-end cars. As a senior in town, it's my purpose to find shops worthy of my business. And, I'm not saying every car passes smog; I believe the manner in-which this shop worked, was well-worth the praise received. I believe Ramiro welcomed my business where he and his mechanics gave me back my faith in business. I don't like to be lied to nor conned. Ramiro was honest, personable, up-front, and showed me his willingness to help find the problem. That ... I truly appreciated. With that said, I certainly will bring all fifteen of our family's vehicles back for future repairs and smog. Where other smog shops say, "We don't do old cars", don't waste your time running around town being lied to and mis-directed like me ... the last handful of reviews say it all. Note: Don't disconnect the car's battery to erase trouble codes to clear the check-engine light. And, "No", I didn't receive any special consideration to write this review. Although I'm a pretty good mechanic myself, women and seniors ... don't be afraid to come to this shop. Next week, I'll be taking another one of our cars to Certified Smog Test and Repair. I originally came to these guys for a smog test so I could register my car. From the moment I came in , I was greeted with respect and kindness. When I failed the smog test I was bummed but Ramero showed me why, then explained affordable options and fixed the issue. I past the test. I was so pleased; I came back to replace my struts. One of our two cars, a 2000 Toyota Camry, was leaking oil. We made the mistake of taking the car to two other shops that we had some experience with and were closer to us than the Certified Smog Test and Repair. The first shop we are almost certain actually caused the leak, possibly by way overfilling the oil during an oil change. The second shop said it was caused by the valve cover gasket and replaced that which only made the leak quite a bit worse but possibly made it worse by doing another oil change since those were the two things they did on this car. Then we got wise and called the Certified Smog Test and Repair. They showed us a photo of the leak from the oil pan. They replaced the oil pan and finally the leak is fixed! We mostly dealt with Jair in their office and was really nice and helpful. I think Alex worked on the car and did a great job, as he did when he fixed a leaking power steering pump in our other car which is 24 years old. From now on we plan on only going to Certified Smog and Repair even though they are somewhat further away for us. The owner, Romero, is a really nice person and runs a terrific business!
