I am a former mechanic and I take my cars to Moe when they need work. I am not able to work on cars…read moremyself due to back problems. Moe is the only place or person I trust with my cars. One story: we were leaving for vacation in 4 days. We would need to drive 5 hours to get there, so we needed the car to work right. I feel fortunate that the alternator in the car blew 4 days before we leave for vacation. I say fortunate because if that alternator went bad while we were on the highway, we would have had a bad time....to say the least. Moe was able to fit fixing the car into his schedule and get us down the road in time for the vacation. Not only did he fix the alternator, but he caught a leaking brake line that would have caused us trouble on the trip if it was not fixed. Moe fixed everything, but didn't have time to create an invoice for me. He told me to take my vacation, enjoy myself, and he wold create an invoice in a week when we returned. I paid hi as soon as he created the invoice. NOthing but great things to say about Moe. We both speak "car language" so when I talk to him, it's like I'm talking to a friend. Thanks for eveything Moe.

I live in Atlanta, and we were on our way home from visiting with family in Northern Virginia when we had car trouble. My wife stayed with the car, and then Mo went the extra mile and called me the day after we had picked up the car and asked whether my wife got home ok and wanted to make sure the car did well on the trip home. I was amazed by the care he showed. Additionally, my father knows a good bit about cars, and I showed him all of the estimates and updates as we went. He said that Mo was very honest and reasonable. I never felt pressured to get unneeded work done. I give Landsdowne my highest recommendation!

Never once did they try to talk me into doing more than I needed, but instead explained everything to me and different alternatives that would work and outcomes for each. Super nice staff and even though the location was a little out of the way for me, I will go back again.

I was given really good advice and he took care of my truck's immediate needs. He found the transmission to be in better shape than I originally thought. The issues I knew that existed were easily explained away. He did give me a quote if for any reason I wanted to have it rebuilt. It's always good to have options. I bought fuel tank and related parts from a reputable classic car parts site. Carl installed it for me. Along the way, he found out why I had issues with the original fuel system and he took time to explain 1970's fuel system engineering and why they did things the way they did back then. His explanations helped me feel comfortable with my decision to replace it. The last issue was with my carburetor. I'm not a carburetor guy and don't like messing with them too much because I'm always afraid of messing them up. The carburetor issue was as follows, when the truck is in gear and my foot on the brake, the engine was vibrate real rough. I knew it was a tuning issue but I'd rather leave it to carburetor experts, like Carl. He tuned it to perfection. Now the engine performs like a champ. My hats off to Carl and his team at Drake Auto. I'll visit them again in the near future.

Resetting these codes (solenoid power and pressure related) with a BlueDriver ODB2 scanner would give relief for about 4-5 miles. They took care of me, were less than a dealer, and spent time discussing the issues and remedies. Eventually I will get a new transmission, which they priced less than the dealer would sell to me and even less than a used junkyard or overhauled transmission. However, I have some personal stuff to manage and we agreed to button it back up with Toyota parts/fluids (thanks for passing along the discount!). It's operating much better than it was, shifts smoothly, and the codes haven't returned. From the TMI department (Yelp wants more detail!) I called and they were a little busy, so we scheduled my drop-off later in the week. F* was great in getting me in, clear about the troubleshooting estimate, what they might have to do based upon the issues mentioned but they needed to diagnose it first, and the turnaround time. I was in no rush. Ma* and I had a few calls to discuss the SUV, the problem codes, and testing as well as remedies based upon the codes. He's really nice and very knowledgeable. He even knew about two important Toyota Service Bulletins that 4 out of 5 people at the dealer didn't know about. The 5th person was a service manager and a tech at the dealer I go to and knew how to pull them up and reviewed them with me. It had been 50k miles since the last transmission service, which the previous owner had done before selling the car. The fast lube place used a grip additive, which Toyota doesn't recommend. Best thing to do is drop the pan, check the solenoids and harness for function and resistance, and look at the fluid. I agreed. All checked out OK on the solenoids and harness. The oil color was normal but did have some odd sludge, where possibly the grip additive that a fast lube place used. Toyota does not recommend transmission fluid additives. This may have affected the flow of the transmission fluid as there were some metal particles in the transmission fluid, indicating that I would need a new transmission soon. He gave me a good price on the parts and labor and a new transmission price from the dealer cheaper than a rebuild or used transmission or what I could get it for from the dealer myself. At the present time I have some stuff going on and can't put in a new transmission. We discussed buttoning up the transmission, replacing the fluid, and using a Toyota filter and gasket as well as waiting a few months to replace the transmission. I know it might have problems or fail at sometime in the future. He said he would put it back together and do me right. He used Toyota branded parts and fluids, did it right plus got a price on a Toyota gasket and filter that was much less than the normal dealer price if I had taken it in for dealer service. After buttoning it up and resetting the codes they haven't came back and the transmission is shifting smoothly again! I will have to replace it in the future but appreciate what he was able to do to get me functional for now.
