10/30/20 - I went back again after 2 years to get my eyes retested just to make sure there aren't any changes for the worse. I figure it's better to be safe then sorry, besides I have eye insurance & I figured I might as well get my vision checked before the end of the year. 5 stars is not enough for Dr. Lau and his staff. I echo all of the other reviews. I first some him in my mid 20's when I first needed glasses for distance and 'followed' him over the years to his current Jeff Park location. He and his staff have assisted both my younger daughter and me with transitioning to contacts. I was 52 at the time and did it because I was sick of my glasses fogging up with masks back in the beginning of COVID-19. The patience exhibited by Dr. Lau and his staff was wonderful. We both had problems learning how to insert and remove our contacts and at one point were making almost weekly visits for 'lessons'. I'm sure they were frustrated but he never complained. In fact, he told me multiple times I could call his cell phone when the office was closed if I was having problems. In short, he's really the best ! read more

I just brought my daughter in for an eye exam. Dr. Lau was knowledgeable, funny, explained things as he was going, and was just overall pleasant. I wish I had a doctor like him when I was a kid! Seeing a new doctor can be scary for a kid, but I could see that my daughter was comfortable with him. Very kind and helpful staff and Dr. Lau was awesome with my 6 year old's eye exam. He really took his time with her and made sure she was comfortable. My daughter is really shy and he was very soft spoken and made little jokes which made her laugh and feel comfortable. Came here for my son's school eye test. Lovely staff, Dr. Leu was very patient and kind as my son asked lots of questions and tried to hold his expensive eye equipment! As it was our first visit I did not know they had parking across the street down a little alleyway. But was able to move our car to it, as you cannot park on Milwaukee after 4pm. read more

Dr. Lau is such a pleasure to see! He is so great with our daughter! He is incredibly genuine, takes the time to explain things, and has such a wonderful way with children. I feel like he treats his patients like they are family. In addition, the ladies at the front desk are always incredibly friendly and helpful. They are also really good at figuring out how to get the most covered with insurance! I also find them very helpful when trying to book appointments with relatively short notice. This man deserves 10++ stars. He is a true doctor who genuinely cares about his patients and will do all he can to provide the best treatment for you. My case is not a simple one. Dr. Lau is always available and continues to work with me to find the best solution for me. It is good to find a professional who doesn't settle and treats you with the utmost care. Other OD's did not spend one iota of the time as Dr. Lau does. They sold me on useless overpriced procedures and eyewear that demised me & didn't work. Took my 8 year old daughter to Dr. Lau today for her mandatory school eye exam. The office is very clean and modern. The receptionists/assistants are very friendly and accommodating. After filling out our new patient paperwork it was less than 5 min until Dr. Lau escorted us to the exam room. He was very friendly and helped put my daughter at ease by explaining all of the procedures in detail. His equipment seemed up to date. He was very thorough with his examination and made sure I understood everything before we left the office. Although we weren't there for eyeglasses, it looked like they had a large selection. i've been a patient of dr. lau's since i was about 12 years old. i've followed him from his office up north to downtown to jefferson park. his newest office is very conveniently located by the jefferson park blue line, metra and several bus lines AND right off the expressways. while i was living in LA, i would schedule my eye appts during planned trips home. he is extremely personable and intelligent. every visit is an educational one. i feel so safe in his hands as he gives an extremely thorough exam explaining the reason for each test and goes through all results all the while making you feel at ease. i almost feel like a part of his family as that is how much he cares about his patients. i was prone to eye infections in college and i would call his personal pager for help -- he would talk to the local pharmacist about my prescriptions and follow up with a phone call a few days later. now that i'm living back in chicago, i went back to get my records updated and he was sure to go through every test. i am now experiencing some dry eye symptoms so he consulted me for that, updated my current prescription AND consulted me re: lasik surgery-- no need to make 3 different appts. i whole heartedly recommend dr. lau especially if you are cautious and self-conscious about your eyesight. read more

His office staff is very accommodating - I was able to get an appointment within a week or so, and Dr. Lau spent a lot of time listening to my concerns and explaining to me what other doctors hadn't in the past. He made and re-made my glasses THREE times until I was happy and would have made them a fourth time if that's what it took. He truly understands what it means to be in a customer service business. I came in looking for someone to pop in my new prescription lenses in my new frames that I received in the mail. I went when he was on California and when he moved to Milwaukee I followed even though it is much further from my house. He is the best of the best. He never rushes and is very thorough. Dr. Lau is great. After my exam he gave me sample contacts to try out. I wore them for a few days, but there was just something off about them. So, free of charge, he re-examined my eyes for a full 45 minutes to figure out the problem. Then he ordered me some new contact lens samples, also for free. He was incredibly patient and thorough.
