I could've eaten here every day while on my assignment because the menu is insane. I ordered the Jumbo fried shrimp and Shrimp fried rice. The shrimp were fried perfectly and seasoned to the T. The fried rice was the best I've had in a long time. I loved that it had bean sprouts, they provide the necessary crunch and not too greasy. Jam packed with shrimp. Legit good food and its inexpensive. Now the customer service is terrible. The gentlemen that was running the front was also assisting with cooking. We waited about 5 minutes to even get our order taken. And when he did take our order it was very rushed as if he had no time for us. They do have parking out front and the back of the place.

Honestly, I probably could have done without the extra lobster tail because they already pack plenty of lobster into the regular roll -- definitely enough to satisfy me. But for only $7 more, the upgrade was worth it. I ended up eating the lobster roll first and then saving the lobster tail to enjoy later dipped in butter, so it felt like a little two-for-one situation. Overall, the roll was really good, as always, and the staff was very friendly, which made the experience even better. A waiter greeted us and said he would return after cleaning the area. Another staff member brought us water, and we waited to place our order. While waiting, I noticed a couple sit down at the bar near us. To my surprise, the first waiter immediately went over to them, took their order, and prepared their drinks while my cousin and I continued to sit there without any acknowledgment. I eventually asked the waiter if he was assigned to our section, and he confirmed that he was. I then asked why the couple had been served before us when we had arrived first. His flippant response was, "Because they're regulars." I replied that, with good customer service, I could become a regular too. He then shrugged and said, "They know management." Thinking I must have misunderstood, I asked him to repeat himself. He again said, "They know management." What bothered me most was not that regular customers were recognized. Great hospitality includes making loyal guests feel appreciated. The problem was the message that seemed to be conveyed--that some customers are more deserving of attention than others because of who they know. When I expressed concern, the waiter appeared dismissive and uninterested in addressing it. Instead of clarifying or apologizing, he repeated the same explanation and shrugged off our concerns. At that point, my cousin looked at me and asked, "Are you ready?" We got up and left without ordering anything. This experience was especially disappointing because it was so different from the positive visits I've had here before. We came expecting good food and a welcoming atmosphere, but instead left feeling ignored and undervalued. I hope management takes customer service seriously and addresses situations like this. Every guest should feel welcomed and respected, whether they are a first-time visitor, a regular, or someone who knows management. Unfortunately, this experience makes me reluctant to return anytime soon. I can't say that I wouldn't recommend Succotash National Harbor, as I've enjoyed many good meals there in the past, but this visit left a lasting negative impression.
