This place has quickly become one of my go-tos. The first time I came here, I left feeling that that was the best shoulder/back massage I've ever gotten. I like the whole experience this business provides. When you first walk in, you put your shoes away and put on some slippers. After this, you're whisked away to a foot soak/scrub alongside some tea. I think this small detail helps set a relaxing mood for the whole visit. I usually get the anti-stress massages which is a combination of many different massage techniques. For those not accustomed to Thai massage, the yoga stretches are essentially active stretches similar to what you might experience from personal trainers/physical therapy (but more for a generalized stretch versus a focused stretch). I love how it finishes with some quiet time and more tea in a small lounge area (and I always thought it was kind of neat how your shoes magically appear again in front of a lounge chair). I canceled my Massage Envy membership after this place was recommended to me after I raved about getting Thai massage every other day in Thailand. I will never go back to regular massage. I'll start by saying the place is beautiful and spacious. They offered a hot herbal tea during a foot bath and after your service which is gracious. Conveniently, I took advantage of their voucher offered on yelp to save $15. I booked an appt via phone call and the lady was polite enough to explain how to use the voucher. Moving forward, I booked an anti-stress massage as a valentine's gift. In the past, I've had numerous Thai massages before because they're my favorite, but the experience here was not it...I was quite excited for my massage since it's close to home and it was much needed. For 90 minutes, usually I'll feel relieved, relaxed, and brand new afterwards but it was like I didn't get a massage at all. I really hate to say this but that was the outcome. The pressure was not thorough throughout the massage. I noted on the sheet I filled out before my visit that I had major tension on my neck and shoulders. The masseuse mainly focused on my back and legs and the pressure was extremely light. I don't think the massage was tailored to me. However, I would love to give this place a 2nd try. Maybe I just didn't get the right masseuse. Respectfully, are there any suggestions who I should request my next visit? read more

I tried Chaan Thai Massage for the first time and was curious of the difference from a traditional Massage place. The stretching was amazing and pinpoint accuracy of pain points was right on the money. I asked for them to focus on my neck & lower back and was a bit concerned that they forgot about my neck area, but in the end she brought everything together with the neck & stretching. My only recommendation would be to upgrade the room ambience, the floor pad and neck cushion seemed a bit on the ragged side. It didn't take away too much from my experience, but a a higher price point, just a bit of detail would go along way. I would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back. read more

After 3 visits I found my lady. Kevin was my first experience with Thai massage, he was great but after I experience with Penn I realized my body needs PENN. after experience with PENN I can compare the difference between her and Kevin. IF AND IF you can handle pain PENN is your lady!!! She is small BUT STRONG. I wanted to shed a little tear during her massage but the result was unbelievable. After the massage with Kevin? I switched to Noy as my regular therapist after my former therapist moved to a new venue, and all I can say is Noy is sent from Heaven! She knows exactly where my muscles have tension and can find the knots easily. She delivers deep tissue massage plus stretching, but she knows your limits, which makes the entire experience enjoyable. Noy knows how things connect in your body (tightness relaying to other parts of the body), and I've come so far doing regular massages with her. Review long due! I've been going to this place for 4 years now. I've tried few different places and different styles of massage in between but haven't found any place that matches to here. I get a pleasant experience every time. From walking in, you will change into slippers and the therapist will wash your feet in warm water while you sip on a warm cup of tea. Then you're off to changing into a comfortable pajamas provided by them and off to a healing zone. Therapists are always so respectful and genuine. The Thai yoga massage itself consists of a deep tissue massage of full body along with targeted stretching. I always come out immediately energized and healed! Penn and Kevin are therapists with magic hands! They know exactly what they are doing. I never have to even tell them where my pain area is, they find it! Came here for a couples massage. It was very clean and very professional. We felt both of our masseuses did a great job both focusing on our knots and stretching out our stiffness. I tried Chaan for a massage because I was having severe pain in my neck and shoulders and scheduled a combination since I know hot stone often loosens up my shoulders pretty well. I've had Thai massage before so I know it includes some different methods but this massage was not good! The therapist just rubbed back and forth in my shoulders and never did deep tissue at all (which was what I noted I wanted when I made my appointment). She also used hot stone but again just rubbed it back and forth really quickly versus using them to dig into my muscles. And the scalp massage! I'm used to a scalp massage where your head is massages more deeply but she rubbed my hair and skin back and forth like she was washing it. The stretches and other parts of the massage were good including the leg and foot massage but I went there for shoulders and neck and came out still in pain and $100 lighter in the wallet! I can't decide if I want to give another therapist a shot since I've seen reviews saying Kevin is good. read more

What a hidden gem this massage center was ... I am a full time baker and with long hrs and rigorous work I was in bad shape in terms of feet legs back and neck . And to my luck I got a fantastic masseur today KEVIN. I don't think I would go anyplace except shaan thai and get this 2 hr massage and stretches form Kevin who opened up all my knots and had 80% of my body aches and pain disappear . I took the HERB CONBINATION 2 hr . Fantastic ambiance and greeted so well . The foot wash and relaxing tea was highlight and not to forget their well decorated and calming rooms ... aroma of oils and soft music was just fantastic . My wife and I did the two hour anti-stress treatment. For me it was great!!! Noy took great care of my body's aches intuitively. I didn't have to say anything nor did she need to ask. I was very pleased with my experience. The reason for the 4 star versus 5 is because my wife's experience was good not great. I think she would've enjoyed Noy's techniques. I wish there were profiles for the massage professionals on the website. Something descriptive of their personality that would give us an idea of what to except. I've been suffering from neck and shoulder pain for the last 2 weeks and the search for a solution led to me thinking of trying out Thai massage. Checked it in Yelp and Chaan Thai Massage in Herndon came out with highest rating. I went in f0r a 30 min combination massage and it was well worth it. My Thai masseuse Toi did such a good job finding my trouble spots and did her magic. After 30 mins my pain was gone. My neck felt lighter with no tension knots at its base. She also did a sinus massage when I mentioned that I have chronic sinus problems Before you start , your feet gets cleansed along with a little foot massage while drinking herbal tea. Then it's in to the massage room. After the massage , you cap the experience with another cup of herbal tea. I'll give this place a 5 star rating for excellent service, cleanliness and professionalism. read more

I have been coming here for about 10 years! Penn is my usual therapist, but all of them are wonderful. I brought my 14 year old daughter yesterday and we had an oil massage in the same room with Penn and Sarah. My daughter doesn't like deep pressure and Sarah adjusted to her tolerance level easily. This is a little gem nestled in the old Kmart shopping center! I had passed by/overlooked this massage spot more times than I can remember. Thank goodness I decided to drop in during a cloudy Sunday morning. I was feeling tension in my neck and shoulder area and was in need a massage. The receptionist was really pleasant and always had a smile on her face. Lucy brought me back to get my feet cleaned and offered me some tea. She's a petite lady, but don't let her size fool you! She was really strong and able to get a lot of the knots out in my trouble spots. When I usually get massages done, I never feel like they apply enough pressure. No complaints here! I had a 60 minute full body massage and a 30 minute foot massage, but I could've stayed there all day if I could. I didn't want it to end!! My only issue that I experienced was where my room was located, I could hear all the conversations going on in the lobby. It was a bit distracting. I will certainly come back soon though! read more

The massage therapist was great!! However, I gave 2 stars only because front desk. The guy who answered the phone I believe was a manager told me that " we only charge $100 for an hour session, we don't ask for additional money." He got my credit card info " to secure my appointment." When I went there I was greeted with a nice smile but when I was leaving the same person who made my appointment told me, " How much do you pay, you have to pay more than $100, you have to pay tip."
