I came in last minute, 4pm on a Sunday without reservations. I didn't even look at the reviews, just needed a place on my way home. The place is quiet and doesn't smell like the traditional nail Polish fume, so good quality air filters. The decor is modern and sleek, very nice. I got a gel removal and basic manicure with clear polish. I was told there may be a wait but it wasn't long. Judy was my nail tech and she was sweet. Asked if I wanted sparkly red nail polish and I said no just need something clear for now. There was no push or anything else. She did a great job removing my old gel Polish and gave me a manicure. I asked for my nails to be cut down. She checked how short I wanted before she cut it. After she was done, she said wait 5-10 minutes. I waiting for 5 and they were dry. I really wanted to like this place, but my experience was disappointing from start to finish. I had an appointment for a dip powder manicure, but when I arrived, no one was available to do it. After waiting about 10 minutes, I decided to switch to a gel manicure just to be seen sooner -- I wasn't upset about the change, just wanted to get my nails done. When I asked the nail tech if she could add tips to a few broken nails, she said she didn't know how to do that -- again, not the end of the world. What is upsetting is the quality of the gel manicure I received. It was rushed and very poorly done. I had a nail "emergency" today and went to the Glossary in Reston to see if they could help. I didn't have an appointment and explained that I was in need of a specific design on my nails in addition to a pedicure and the technician asked her coworkers if anyone might be able to do the design I wanted and they said that Kandy would be able to help. Kandy was sure to ask questions regarding exactly what I wanted and needed and took extreme care in doing my pedicure, repairing a nail that another salon neglected and also in doing the design I requested PERFECTLY! I was over the moon and so happy! Glossary will now be my new nail salon and Kandy will be my new nail technician :) I already made my next appointment! read more

Best nails I've ever gotten!! I called in trying to make an appointment and they got me in same day. The guy doing my nails spent so much time prepping to make sure everything looked perfect. This was my first visit here. I did not get any work done but I came with my friend who was getting her hair colored. This Salon is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff seemed friendly, but I had more interaction with the hair stylist who worked on my friend. They had so many colors to choose from for nail polish it would be almost overwhelming! This Salon offers various services including mani-pedi, hair styling, and massages. I was curious so I took a walk to the back to see what was available and everything was just clean and an exceptionally tip top shape. The seats for hair washing actually recline which makes it a little more comfortable when getting the hair washed. They take appointments and possibly walk-ins. There's an ATM machine available.. I am rating it 4-stars for a place to go in a pinch. They take walk-ins for almost all services and they do a decent job - not the best, but not the worst by far. I will say that I prefer some other salons in the area but sometimes you just can't get in and need some pretty toes for a weekend event. They have plenty of staff, plenty of colors to choose from and the massage chairs are really comfortable - plus you can be in and out pretty quickly! Their staff is not, uh, unfriendly, but also not overly welcoming - maybe it was because I was just a walk in... But, bottom line is they are decently priced for the area, efficient, and can take you without an appointment. Dealing with rude business owners or service providers can be draining, and it's not something anyone should have to tolerate. I've lived in North Reston for almost 30 years and I have never witnessed such extreme unprofessional behavior in a business owner. I know I'm not the only one that has encountered her rath, but I'm well aware now that it's her way of being, a 100% bully, and nothing will change. I'm leaving this review to better inform others about my experience. It's perfectly reasonable to leave a review or to walk away and find a place where you feel respected and valued. I go wherever the talent is and I finally found Tony (Tai) who does IBD Gel and does a very good job. Tony is also one who goes extra with you, just depends on whether you're adventurous to try new classic designer nail designs and you're not on a budget. I was a walk-in for SNS w/tips indicating I wanted extremely short square shaped well manicured looking nails, even went so far as to show a photo yet when I conveyed the length was too long after THRAN cut my nails three times II was met w/"no worries, I'll take care of you" Upon "Thran" finishing my new SNS set my nails were bubbly/lumpy, some were extremely thick while others too thin. Mind you I kept stating my dissatisfaction along the way to Thran but she refused to listen telling me she knew what I wanted & would again "take care of me" yet the end result was insulting, more over upon phoning the next day to have my nails fixed by another technician was informed I had contacted the salons answering service & would need to be a "walk in" at the specific salon where services were rendered & they were unable to make appointments for customers who had previous services & I needed to speak w/the the nail technician directly as only they are permitted/eligible to perform corrective services bc the staff worked on an independent basis & this policy is at the sole discretion of all nail technicians. Now mind you the number I phoned was the same indicated on salons website & this policy was nowhere indicated nor reflected on website, in the salon nor their listing of services. The individual at this so called phone answering service was the most RUDE individual I've EVER encountered! My friend phoned the Glossary's Herndon location & spoke was the same person I spoke to bc she exclaimed to my friend verbatim " I already told you once to go to the salon & speak to Thran you idiot" YES, thinking she was speaking to ME she called my friend an IDIOT !! WHO talks to patrons like this??? To say my friend & I were mortified is an understatement. The worst experience ever at a nail salon! Surprised the salon is still in business. I recommend that you go to the nearby Christie Adams Salon instead. Visited for a manicure with two friends, one of whom also had a pedicure. We were all disappointed! Service was rushed and the nail polish appeared to be old as it started to curl when the technician moved me to the drying area. After she redid the polish twice, I finally asked her to remove it. She picked another color to use that was not my choice. No apology or discount offered!! My friend who got the pedicure was told she would have to pay an additional $9 if she wanted callous removal, which is standard with every pedicure I have ever had. If I could give this review a 0, a big ZERO, I would. I had my dipped nails done twice here. The first time, 2 of my nails broke the day after I had them done (Sunday), and by the time I came back the 2nd time, I had 7 broken nails. I wanted to give them a second chance, and what a mistake. I, again, spent $65.00 + tip, on such bad work, that on the same Saturday, 3 nails broke, and since the 5 days since, once again, 7 nails are broken. I'm not hard on my hands as I am recovering from a surgery and am at home, not even working remotely. I never went to The Glossary before COVID and when I asked a friend who lives in Reston, what she thought of the salon, she said before the pandemic they were great, but after the pandemic, they weren't the same and she only went back once. She said they changed and she wasn't going back. Whatever you do-DO NOT make the same mistake I did. I should have taken the advice I was given from the start. I couldn't have picked a worse salon for my last minute pedicure & manicure. My nails were left lumpy & crooked, when I mentioned it to my tech she said they weren't done & proceeded to add 6 coats of polish leaving my nails thick & bulbous. I tried to give the pedicure a shot & my tech was extremely aggressive, repeatedly made me bleed & when I pulled my toes away & mentioned it she said "its because of the old gel you have on so its going to hurt" She was filing so aggressively that she broke my toe nail. I only go there because of Sarah. She is by far the best!! She is always so friendly and very professional. One complaint I have is that other workers always talk to each other so loudly in Vietnamese(?) it's hard to relax getting my manicure and pedicure. This was a last minute walk in for a pedicure and manicure, with my daughter. We were immediately greeted and taken care of. Everyone was very friendly and polite. The water temperature was perfect and I was asked if it needed to be changed. The place was clean and both my daughter and I were very happy with the service. I feel bad that the other reviews for this place are so negative because I just had a wonderful experience. The owner/manager was super kind and came around and asked how everything was going and asked about my weekend plans. Cindy was my technician and she did my pedicure, a gel manicure, and my eyebrows. She was lovely! She was so gentle doing my eyebrows that I don't think I'll go anywhere else to get them done! When I went to pay both the manager and Cindy wished me a happy birthday as I mentioned it was on Saturday. My nails look amazing! Cindy even mentioned if I had any issues they would fix them free of charge. I'm so glad I gave this place a chance despite the other reviews! The inside is gorgeous and super clean. Tony my technician is incredible. I've been going to this salon for over two years, but tonight will be my last visit. I booked an appointment for 6pm and got a confirmation text that my appointment was in fact at 6pm. At around 5:30 as I'm heading out the door to leave for my appointment (I drive 25 mins to get to this salon) I get a new text saying my appointment is at 5:45pm. Confused, and knowing I won't make it there by 5:45 given they last minute changed my appointment time, I call. Holly, the owner, answered and was incredibly rude to me. She claimed that I lied and made the appointment at 5:45, not 6 to which I disagreed and said I have a text proving my appointment was at 6pm. Instead of apologizing, she doubled down and said that if I couldn't get there by then that's too bad and that he had another costumer at 6:30. I show up for my appointment at 5:55pm after rushing to get there and tony did a great job as usual. around 6:45pm he finished and there was no other customer like she claimed. Long story short, she gaslit me over the phone, yelled, and made me feel embarrassed. I had every intention of showing her the text with the 6pm time but she acted like nothing happened. I'm very happy with my walk in pedicure. My technician, Tony, was very efficient and effective. He did a wonderful job with my leg massage and clipping and cleaning my nails. I hadn't had a pedicure in 7 months, so my nails were in rougher shape than usual. I am very satisfied with the results! The salon is very clean and modern. Rude customer service at the Northpoint Reston location. Had a scheduled appointment and the nail technician who I was supposed to be with, took another client 5 minutes before my appointment time. They blamed me and were not nice at all. Manager is rude and the owner/person who schedules the appointments isn't even at the salon and is very unfriendly. Some technicians good, others aren't. They have a sign up that there are no refunds- I now know why. Stay away, it's not a relaxing place. They make sure the technicians finish the manicures by 30 minutes or less. read more

So disappointing. Sat with feet in cold water for 30 minutes as we had an appointment but they messed up. Also dirty. Manicurist used same old dish for hands of someone else, went to sink,poured out old water and put in new without washing or rinsing out. Gross. Then used old used emery board etc not cleaned. I had really been a fan of this place until my last visit. The technicians are all very nice but the lady who runs this place doesn't understand the very basics of what it means to deliver customer service. I had my nails done powder acrylics and they didn't even last two weeks. They are crooked and the sides are chipping and everyone knows this shouldn't be the case after a week and a half especially for the price paid. I am pregnant and I work from home a desk job. When I called to express my concerns I was told that it was my fault because of what I must have been doing with my hands? She told me even a genius could figure that out and refused to even give any possibility to the fact that it could have been their fault. I mentioned that they were done extremely quickly and she said she has no technicians that move fast ( lol)I would also like to point out she was not in store when I got my nails done and was blindly and belligerently telling me I was wrong and if i wanted to come on and watch the camera with her I could? I wouldn't recommend this place solely based on this manager she should be replaced. She manages both north point and the town center. She was the most rude and unprofessional person I have ever dealt with and if any higher management is on here i encourage you to look at your call logs because if it happened to me it will happen to others. I will be directing everyone I know elsewhere which stinks because I really liked the people. No manager should yell at a customer just because they express a concern like I did. I just visited the review page for the Reston town center location and realized there are tons of complaints about this lady.
