Leftovers from an enormous veg thali! Delicious!
    Sonja J.

Oh My! I was having a reunion with some old workmates and the place we wanted to eat at had a "closed" sign in the window. So we ate next door. What a treat!! It is a small place with a few tables and could get crowded quickly if they were all full. Chaat is Indian street/snack food and any of those offerings are enough for a meal. Instead I opted for the vegetarian thali, which includes a spicy papadam, samosa, 3 veg curries, basmati, naan, pickle, and dessert (in this case gulab jamun which was amazing!) It's a big meal!! My friends and I were chatting too much for me to ask about the tandoori chicken, butter chicken, or saag that they ordered. Mr Hemant Mathur was a gracious host and I'm eager to visit again. There are many great offerings on the menu and I'm sorry not to have been able to try more!

The food is so bad, I just tossed it as a lost. The chickpeas left a after taste. The rice was dry and crunchy. Service was ok, but the owner did not bother to give me a receipt although he charged me $29.65 for a vegetable, chicken, chickpeas, and bread. All separate. The 4 star rating is self perpetrated. I should have turned away when a cook appeared dirty and unkept. I love Indian food, and thought perhaps it would be cheaper than the one I love in Woodbridge; but it was not. Don't believe the hipe.

Found this spot while leaving work. Definitely wanted to check it out. So good, I went back twice! Lol The first day I ordered the three piece samosa and samosa chaat! The samosas were really good. I preferred it with the sweet sauce. The chaat?? Mannnn so flavorful! I know the to-go picture doesn't look like much but even those I shared it with were amazed by how delicious it was! I went back the next day to grab lunch and ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan. Online it had an option to make it spicy, which I did! For sure a five star dish all on its own! The garlic was a little too fresh lol. Have to grab some gum to mask the smell. But I throughly enjoyed and will for sure visit again to try another dish next week.

Really 18$ no salad or bread just 6 pieces of small chicken and some microwaved rice. The people inside were nice but man the price is outrages. This is also my first time eating Indian food. The place is nice and small tho. The food is good but man I could've went to bug red halal next door and got a 5lbs tray of food for 15$ that would fill me up. At least ill know not to come here again. Dont come here if you wanna just pay for butter chicken sauce.

The restaurant is small but food is good. Love the pani puri, chana butra and masala dosa. The papri chaat and thali were equally good. Overall everything I tried was good! Def a must recommended for the area!

    Samosas Samosas (3 Pieces)

I really wanted to like this place.... the Samosas were pretty good and the sauce to accompany them was as well. Were it went wrong was with the chicken curry. I was asked if I wanted it spicy. I said yes. When the dish was delivered, not a single hint of spice. I mean nothing and I love Indian food because of the spice. Chicken was dry even though in the sauce. While there many people were going in and out, maybe I may have ordered the wrong thing with the curry chicken. I will be back and hope to get more spice for my buck.

Now, every month when I fly into town, I make it a priority to spend the entire day with my Down Home Comfort Cafe family. The Spot at Belmont Bay is officially our new brunch problem!!!…read more We went to The Spot at Belmont Bay this past Sunday for brunch, and I'm just going to say it: this is the best brunch in the area. Not "pretty good for Woodbridge." Not "solid little neighborhood spot." I mean clear-your-calendar-because-you're-going-back good. We ordered the Breakfast Board for Two, and it was exactly what brunch should be: generous, fun, shareable, and absolutely loaded. Eggs, bacon, house-made sausage, smashed potatoes, Belgian waffles, biscuit, gravy (so good), fresh fruit, Greek parfait, and pastries of the day all showed up on one board like brunch had assembled the Avengers. And here's what makes it even better: everything is made from scratch. You can taste it. Even the sausage is made in-house, which explains why it stood out so much. The smashed potatoes were seasoned beautifully, the scrambled eggs were fluffy, the bacon had that perfect crispy edge, and the waffles were golden with just enough crunch. The biscuit was soft and buttery, and the cinnamon roll situation on the side had absolutely zero interest in helping anyone make responsible decisions. Respect. But the absolute star of the show was the spicy Bloody Mary. Best Bloody Mary I've ever had. Full stop. It had real zip, great spice, and that pickle salt rim took it completely over the top. Salty, briny, spicy, savory, it hit every note. Add the crispy bacon and lemon garnish = forget about it!! The drink menu is no joke either. They've got mimosa carafes, mimosa flights, sangria, margarita flights, brunch cocktails, dirty sodas, coffee drinks - basically, The Spot looked at brunch beverages and said, "Yes. All of it." We also had a mimosa, and it was bright, fresh, and exactly what you want sitting next to a big brunch board. We also had the chance to meet the owners, and they were fantastic. Warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they're building. That makes such a difference. You can tell when a place has real people behind it who care about the food, the service, and the vibe. The Spot absolutely has that. I liked it so much that I'm already going back for their bourbon tasting Saturday night, and then again for their Father's Day brunch on Sunday. Great food, great drinks, great owners, great atmosphere, and scratch-made brunch that actually delivers. The Spot at Belmont Bay is a winner. Not what I expected but it will suit specific people looking for their offerings. Burton's Grill is your typical all American restaurant but focuses on serving all the dietary needs of Americans with allergies or not. The place looks new, the kind of place you wanna wear clean clothes at a minimum and not look slovenly. Outside sitting, full large bar, sports on several TVs above the center of the bar, and a lot of servers milling around here. Great lighting, not loud but not quiet either, just chill. We were starved so our eyes ate. Brunch was still being served till 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays so I grabbed the French Toast and the Steak and Eggs. My friend had allergies with gluten so she went with a salmon and some super salad dish. She was happy as all the dishes had markers for gluten free, food free, soul free, etc. Very helpful for all allergy infused humans. Great waitress btw. Fantastic service. Food came after some time, we requested for everything to come out on time. Steak and egg was okay but I'd go with the prime rib next time. The steak came out sliced with 2 poached eggs on top. The hash on the side was on point. Salmon okay too. Salad was okay but we should have added a protein on top. A little dry on dressing maybe but we could have requested more so that's on us. On the other hand, the French toast had me scratching my head. It was cubed challah bread but eggs was 0, zero, nada eggs on it. I thought I was eating croutons which would have gone great with the super salad dish thinking about it now. The French toast really bunched up my undies, French toast is my favorite breakfast thing you see. They explained it was prepped that way for allergy sake due to the egg. Well, I'm not allergic and never said I was, but my friend was but she wasn't eating my dish so why make it in this fashion. Overall, this experience was just okay. Nice environment and service but I realized how lucky I am not to be allergic cause if I have to eat French toast like this forever, I'm not sure what to do. Definitely not up to eating croutons with syrup.

So I said why not, and stopped here on a weekday (today) around 1:30pm. I ignored the fact that the tables and chairs outside the entrance were in disarray and walked inside. I looked around, noticing first a narrow hallway to my right with one small table and a snack bar. To my left were two more small tables. Loud music of an unrecognizable genre was blasting away. I was the only customer. It didn't look promising, but I figured I could order something and take it home. I looked up at the electronic monitor to see if there was a menu, but it just was displaying an outdoor scene. Then I noticed a woman sitting in the corner on a stool intently fiddling with her phone. She looked up, her face as blank as a refrigerator door and muttered something unintelligible (and certainly not welcoming) and pointed to the counter. She then went back to playing with her phone. Oh no you don't treat customers like that, and think you are going to make a sale. I left immediately, never to come back. Just a totally inhospitable ambience.

I stumbled upon Milk and Honey Cafe, intrigued by its menu featuring Southern staples like chicken and waffles and biscuits. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was warm and welcoming. And if you know anything about soul food spots, you'll know that sometimes a low-key or even gruff welcome is a sign the food's about to blow your mind, so the friendly vibe had me both surprised & optimistic. I ordered the cheese egg biscuit sandwich, which came in at $10. Let me tell you, the portion size was generous, definitely enough for two meals. The biscuit was fluffy, buttery, and had just a touch of sweetness, which paired perfectly with the savory cheese eggs. I always ask for cheese eggs when I eat out, and most places miss the mark. Not here. They got it exactly right. Coffee-wise, it was simple: basic drip with International Delight creamer. Nothing fancy, but honestly, it hit the spot and fit the vibe. The ambiance really sealed the experience. A smooth R\&B playlist floated through the space, adding to the cozy, feel-good atmosphere. It was a refreshing contrast to the more sterile, minimalist coffee shops I'm used to back home in Sacramento. All in all, Milk and Honey Cafe delivered on food, flavor, and feeling. If you're in the Alexandria area and craving soulful comfort food with a solid vibe, this spot is a must.
