Lamb Rogan Josh with Rice missing.
    Haile M.

Disappointing Experience and Poor Customer Service Today (around 2:45 PM), I called Raaga Tandoor to order the lunch special Lamb Rogan Josh and an order of samosas. The restaurant is about 20 minutes from my place, but due to road construction, it took me 28 minutes to get there. I paid at 3:21 PM, left a tip at the counter, and headed home with my food -- everything was sealed in a paper and plastic bag. When I got home, I was hungry and ready to eat, but upon opening the bag, I realized there was no rice included with my order. I immediately called the restaurant to let them know and asked for a refund for the missing item. Instead of offering a refund or sincere apology, I was told to "come back and get the rice." I explained that I live far away and had to return to work, so driving back wasn't practical. Their response was that they would "give me extra rice next time." This isn't the first time I've had an issue here -- just a couple of weeks ago, I found a hair in my food while dining in, though they replaced the dish at that time. I decided to give them another chance, but this second experience clearly shows a lack of attention to detail and professionalism. Forgetting key parts of an order and then refusing a refund is unacceptable, especially when it's part of a pattern. I won't be returning, and I hope management takes customer feedback seriously to improve both food handling and service.

Went for lunch and this spot is a hidden gem. They have lunch special including chicken tikka masala on their menu. It is tasty and comes with naan bread. It came out steaming hot and fresh. Service was quick and efficient. Inside was a bit warm but it was super hot outside also.

    The burnt samosa.

Let's start with what went right. The malai kofta was edible and the rice was also edible. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. The gravy was grainy and not smooth. Everything else was BAD! The samosas were past the point of cooked well, they were burnt. The inside was good texture but not flavorful at all. The garlic naan was so rotten, it smelled like gasoline. The garlic used was rotten and the naan was lumpy. Completely inedible because of the rotten garlic. I am so surprised that a restaurant serves this low quality of food. It's safe to say, I'll never be eating here again.

Ordered takeout from Raaga Tandoor on a Friday night with an Uber Eats deal for bogo Channa Masala and Naan. With Channa Masala being one of my all time favorite Indian dishes, I loved the fresh chickpeas and hearty masala. It was not salty and packed great flavors through each bite. The naan was an added bonus for us to dip into our masala and pair with our kabob sampler of tandoori chicken, seekh kabob, and pakora. Loved the green chutney with the pakora and found the meats to be just alright. Granted, this was gotten as takeout, so it was a bit dry. Great takeout for a cozy night in! I would like to try Raaga Tandoor in person to try more of their items.

I ordered take out here on Saturday through the yelp app. It was very user friendly and easy. We received our order in a timely manner, with tracking options for the order and delivery. I ordered the Chana Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan bread. Each dish was tasty and savory, with a nice little burn in each bite (if you like spicy). The Chicken Tikka Masala was particularly delicious: tender chicken in a tomato based cream sauce, but I was a little disappointed in the Chana Masala - which, while tasty, was a little lacking in flavor. I routinely make it at home, and was expecting better from the restaurant seeing as I am not of South Asian/Indian descent and only learned how to make it recently. All in all, not a bad dish, just not what I was expecting. The garlic naan was also very tasty. I can't speak to the ambiance or service of the restaurant itself, but the online order/delivery service was absolutely stellar. We will definitely be eating at this restaurant again!

For those who track my reviews over the years, yes, this is a 6 star review. I used to live in Bailey's Crossroads (Va.) in the 90s and was one of the first customers to the Raaga there. My wife and I went all the time and once we moved to Maryland we would use random trips to Virginia as excuses to go back there. To be honest, the Virginia location has dropped off a little and I wonder if the reason is that the chef has moved to Burke and opened this place. Everything that came out of the kitchen on our visit was perrrrrrrrrfect! We started, as always, with the Mixed Platter appetizer. OMG, the vegetable pakora was mind blowing. The chicken and the kebab were also excellent. I went with my personal fave of Reshmi Kebab and it did not disappoint. Tender and yummy. The Mrs. had the Mixed Vegetable Korma and it was so delicious that I ate half of it and I generally keep clear of veggie dishes. If I had two stomachs, I think I would have also ordered the Momo Chicken appetizer and kheer. Alas...I'll just have to go back and try them out when I'm in Burke next (Friday). The naan is made from a legit tandoor and it was flawless. If you love fabulous Indian food then Raaga Tandoor is the place for you. You're welcome.

If you like Hyderabadi or Dum Biryani then this is not the place for it. They serve what is known as assembled Biryani. It's spicy but good. Reminds of the Kimchi fried rice I had in Seoul minus the kimchi and of course I tried it with the boneless lamb. It was served with a raita which thankfully was made properly and went well with the biryani to add creaminess and toned down the heat from the peppers . The lamb kebabs are another item I recommend for the meat lovers. We were in the mood for some biryani so didn't try much else. The servers were professional, accommodating, and attentive. Best of all they actually understood what we asked of them. The restaurant small but it is clean, comfortable, and somewhat busy for the

We enjoyed lunch at Raga Tandoori. Rather than set up a buffet, they offer several lunch platters. I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo while my wife ordered the Butter Chicken. Both came with Nan, chickpeas, spinach and Kheer for dessert. The Lamb Vindaloo was delicious! I think next time I will order just the Lamb Vindaloo or other entree for lunch rather than a platter. Service was friendly and prompt.

Vegan Friendly: Yes Decor: The exterior was nothing special but when I entered inside I will say it was very warm and inviting. It is not a huge space but the space they do have they utilized very well, the seating was comfortable, the painting and decorations are a nice touch, and overall a very clean place. Food Breakdown: * Mango Lassi (3.5/5): Not a lassi but it was a little too thick for my liking but defiantly don't regret getting it * Tiranga Chicken(5/5): This was actuarially a last-minute decision as I was looking through the menu and was deciding to go with Butter Chicken. However, something was telling to me try out this dish and I am very glad I did. The chicken was well cooked and the flavors hit properly. The cherry on top was that it come with a side of Chole and rice which really helped round out the dish. Portion Size: Good size overall Price: Not going to lie the prices kind of felt higher in other Indian places but the food was solid so it hard to complain to much. I would for sure come back again. Service/Food Delivery: The service was top tier. Everyone was really nice and they really made sure we were taken care off. Would I go Back: Being Indian it is hard for me to want to go to a Indian restaurant because my dad makes restaurant-quality food at home. But I am very happy to say that I really enjoyed my experience and the food I got was great. I really wish the price were a tad bit lower but what can you do. One thing that really hurt me was the fact that they didn't have Momos or dessert options there, I believe it was because their refrigerator was broken but that really hurt me. Thankfully though the food+service really saved the experience:)

This was our first time eating at Raaga Tandoor and I can say it is a rock solid Indian food establishment. Each dish we had was very good and in some instances, different from the typical Indian fare. For example, the chicken momos aren't something you'd typically find; however, they are great. I'd also highly recommend the cashew chicken curry dish -- I can't remember the name. We will be back.

Fun restaurant for food from Himalayan mountains! Service was awesome, clean and relaxing environment, tasty! I dropped in for a weeknight dinner, excited to see the extensive menu including Indian foods and Nepalese items. I tried the bone-in goat curry and the fresh naan, and masala tea. The meat was falling off the bone, very tender and tasty! Came in a little pot with a side of rice and went well with the naan. The bread was very fresh and hot, recommended! Would eat here again in a heartbeat! Location was in a strip mall near other stores and a Walmart. Easy suburban location but you feel like you are transported once you go inside. Try it out!

A few friends and I visited Raaga Tandoor after hiking in Fountainhead park. We all love Indian cuisine but none of us had eaten at Raaga Tandoor prior to today, so you can imagine how excited I was when I saw they were voted best carry out in Burke, VA, even though we had planned to dine in. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were seated immediately. The bartender was great! He was attentive, accommodating, and made really great drinks. He was also our server. For appetizers we ordered Samosa Chat, Achari Chicken Tikka, and Lamb Seekh Kebab. Everything was so good and full of flavor. The Samosas were perfectly crispy and the filling was savory and rich with spices, the tamarind and mint sauces were excellent. The lamb kebabs and chicken tikka were super juicy and flavorful. The entrees were served family style and I loved that--there's something special about communal eating with friends. I ordered the lamb curry--again, super tender and flavorful meat. The curry gravy was thick and packed with spices providing a good level of heat. My buddies ordered the the butter chicken and butter salmon, both excellent choices. Each of us enjoyed our stews accompanied by fragrant basmati rice and the basket of bread. The basket of assorted naan was simply divine and I'm so happy it was on the menu. This is a 5/5 rating for excellent service, clean restrooms, great drinks, delicious food, and generous portions.

The interior is modern and elegant, with dim, romantic lighting and fancy LED lamps at each table. Our server got our orders pretty quickly and food was out shortly. BUTTER CHICKEN - 22 The sauce was sweeter than I'd prefer, like they added sugar to the tomato sauce. It didn't taste as buttery or savory as I expected, which I can forgive, but the artificial sweetness to it ruined it for me personally. SAAG - 18 +2 for chicken We mistakenly assumed that if we got the chicken, it would include both paneer and chicken. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case which was our fault. From this experience, I now know that saag and paneer is a much better combination and I'm unlikely to divert from it. The chicken was bland, and the spinach base had a slightly unpleasant spinach flavor that I didn't like. Maybe it's because they didn't blanch the spinach after boiling, which explains the astringent taste and green-brown color. LAMB BIRYANI - 24 I think this was okay, but unfortunately I didn't have much of it because there was a lot of cilantro mixed in. I can't comment too much. One of my friends requested hot water, and the server made multiple odd comments towards her request which wasn't appreciated. Overall, unlikely to return since the food didn't match our preferences and it's a bit of a drive to get to.

There's plenty of free parking in the huge garage right behind the restaurant too. Their menu is the typical Indian fare; kabobs, curries, veggies/legumes, Biryani, etc. Service was OK, seems like the lady taking care of our table was a little more preoccupied with the call (ear bud) she was on for the first several minutes I was there, when I was trying to get her attention to order... But after that, the rest of the service went well. The presentation of the food was nice... smells were great (especially outside when I was walking in)... Flavors were pretty good as well. Spice level was subdued, I wish they would have asked if I wanted a higher spice level, as I felt there was no heat at all to the dishes we tried. Chicken tikka was nice, but the yogurt marinade didn't seem to penetrate to affect the flavor throughout as well as I'm used to. My two favs were the channa and the dal makhani. Their naan was also done perfectly! Overall, nice visit. Definitely worth a try.

Now, my husband and I have moved away, as have our adult daughters and their families. Upon returning for a wedding in Vienna, VA, we HAD TO return to Jaipur for their Saturday lunch buffet. We made reservations for our large party -- 9 adults and 3 babies under the age of 3 months. The table was ready for us -- and nicely set -- but it was difficult for a large party to maneuver to the buffet given the bench seating. One of the servers thoughtfully offered high chairs for the babies, but all three were still too small to sit independently. As before, the servers were attentive -- refilling our water glasses, bringing fresh naan to the tables, and clearing away used plates. As before, the 'quality' of the food preparation was excellent. One could always depend upon Jaipur for richly-flavored appetizers, meat and vegetable entrees, and desserts. We especially enjoyed the lamb curry, the lentil daal, cold garbanzo bean salad, and the chili shrimp. That said, we were a bit disappointed in the 'selection' of dishes on the buffet this time. The main issue was that three of the dishes on the buffet tasted as if they were in the same sauce -- a butter chicken; cauliflower in a butter sauce curry; and paneer in seemingly the same butter sauce. The buffet has also become expensive, at $22.95/adult, before taxes and tip. We probably will return to Jaipur when next in the area for a special occasion, and we were pleased to introduce the restaurant to some long-term Vienna residents who hadn't previously visited. That said, we would likely visit other, less pricey, Indian buffet restaurants for more everyday dining.

In all our previous orders, the samosa chaat was packed in a black plastic container with the dry and wet components separated, allowing you to combine them right before eating so the texture remains fresh and crisp. This time, we ordered two portions, and both arrived completely pre-mixed in round soup containers. As a result, the dish was soft, mushy, and soggy. Additionally, it contained a whole star anise and a bay leaf--ingredients we have never encountered in this dish before. I called the restaurant to ask if the recipe or packaging protocol had changed. The staff member stated the recipe had not changed and that the packaging issue "shouldn't be," adding that they would check with the staff. I mentioned that I had taken a photo of the food and offered to share them, but the offer was not taken up. When I expressed hesitation about ordering this dish again due to the lack of consistency, I was told the person was too busy to continue the conversation. They ended the call without taking my name, contact details, or photos to follow up. The flavor was tolerable, but the texture and lack of quality control were disappointing, and the customer service did not resolve the concern. Given that other restaurants in the area serve samosa chaat, we will likely be ordering elsewhere moving forward.
