I absolutely love this place. I have dined here now 5 times and every time the food is amazing. From the bread rolls and butter, the unique apps, the exquisite main courses, the delicious desserts and the amazing service. They treat everyone like V.I.P. I love that it's local and close to my home. The only critique I would give it the decor needs a makeover. It's lacking a clear identity. There isn't much on the walls and the bar needs updating. Also, the location is a bit odd. I love that it's in east Patchogue, I just wish they had a better location. Don't like the mini mall. But even still, it still feels like you are somewhere special and feel like you are having a fine dining experience. I highly recommend this place for any occasion or for a special treat. Absolute Fine Dining! You will think you are in a restaurant in Manhattan But you are in a shopping mall. The waiter there is one of the rudest and disrespectful people I have ever met in my life. He treats you like you are inconveniencing him and are not worth his time if you aren't spending 200$ or more on alcohol. I complained to the Manager and she refused to acknowledge it and said we should of asked to switch waiters. She refused to let me speak to owner. She then tried to grab me by my arm and bring me back to my table because she could not handle that someone was not happy with the waiter. Wow. Super randomly places in a strip mall next to a nail salon and a pizza spot.. Chachama was surprisingly delectable- although on the pricier side.. they offered a price fixed menu which included any app any main and any dessert - the service was amazing - our server was friendly and knowledgeable and did a great job with setting and cleaning out table. I ordered a warm Thai calamari salad that was out of this world! The calamari salad was a pretty decent portion and included pickles ginger which is my favorite! The oysters Rubio was also absolutely delicious - obviously on the smaller side but still great flavor (6 fried oysters) for my mai. Course I ordered sea scallops over fettuccini with mushroom in a burre Blanc sauce which I have zero complaints about and to finish it up a warm cappuccino and some vanilla creme brûlée which was really a large portion! From the minute that you walk in, you feel as though you are In a Manhattan Restaurant. The attention to detail is amazing. The friendly, professional staff is something that is rare today. My wife ordered a Mojito and I a French Martini. They were both perfect. Let me add, that my wife's favorite is a Mojito and always has them. This was the best that she had EVER HAD!! My French Martini was Top Shelf! For starters, my wife had the Israeli Artichoke, which I tried and it was amazing! I had the Crab Cake and Maryland could learn from this. It was superb!! Can be a romantic restaurant with good food but last time I was there in off-peak hours for late lunch / early dinner, there was a very loud couple practically yelling at each other. I decided to take my food to go; did not reheat well. Have not been back. Management should have asked that couple to leave or at least asked them to be more quiet. This is a hidden gem, located in the East Patchogue strip mall near Lidl. The owner is personable and enjoyable, willing to give you personalized recommendations and cater specially to allergies. They made me a special dish to accommodate my allergy! Everything we try is delicious and they have a great wine list and cocktails. Located in a nondescript strip mall on Long Island, Chachama Grill was a pleasant surprise. Ate her with dear friends on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere, not too fussy but elegant and inviting. I had the smoked salmon, with aioli and potato pancake to start which was beautifully plated and dressed with micro greens. For my entree I had the pork chop with a delicious sweet potato mash- it was perfectly presented and prepared just right. Other diners had the crab cake, oysters, scallops, rib eye. For dessert we shared the key lime tart and chocolate cake. All dishes were plated beautifully and enjoyed by all diners. Service was excellent and the bar is well stocked. Several people had a birthday celebrations last night and they played happy birthday for them through the sound system when the dessert came out- but not in an obnoxious way like the chain restaurants. We also were one of the last diners in the restaurant and we did not feel rushed to leave. Lastly, I love the story of the chef/owner Elmer. Truly an immigrant dream come true. I had wanted to come to this restaurant since I had read some good reviews a while back. It was our wedding anniversary, so we went. It's located in a shopping center, but when you go inside the restaurant is very nice. We decided to order from the Latin menu. For the appetizer I ordered the yucca salad. The display was lovely and when I tasted it, it was very good, but when I was half way through it, something became very chewy. It was a rubber band...in my salad. I was disgusted and shocked. My husband went to tell the waiter, and he came over and apologized and said this had never happened in his 25 years of working there. He asked if I wanted to choose another appetizer, but I was not interested. We decided to stay and continue with our meal. I had ordered the paella. It was not like any paella I had ever had. It was tasty, but watery and very greasy. They did not charge me for my appetizer or my meal. We left extremely disappointed. Long story short, I hardly got any sleep that night, with stomach pains, throwing up and diarrhea, my husband too. I would not recommend Chachama Grill. read more

My boyfriend and I came here on a Wednesday night for a quiet dinner for his birthday and were blown away. The atmosphere was very dark/quiet and I am sure it might get a bit louder on the weekend, but it was super relaxing and has a high class/steakhouse vibe, despite it being in a shopping center. There were only about 3-5 tables in there at the same time as us. The food was 5 stars, can't think of anything they could improve on. During the week they do a pre-fixe menu: app, entrée, and dessert for $45 a person. The octopus and burrata appetizers were great, especially the burrata which came with fried eggplant underneath. For entrees, my boyfriend got the rack of lamb and I got the pappardelle with braised lamb. Both of the dishes were perfect and we ate every bite. The olive tapenade on the potatoes with the lamb rack was delicious. My pasta was perfect and my boyfriend finished the last few bites of mine. Dessert was banana bread pudding & a coffee vanilla panna cotta, which were great but by that point, I was crazy full. I had 2 glasses of wine and my boyfriend's old-fashioned was strong and tasty. Service was attentive and quick which was nice because it was a weeknight and we really weren't drinking, so we were out in a little over an hour and a half. I will be back here again for sure and would highly recommend for celebrating a romantic evening or special occasion. read more

They sat us in a cute VIP table (enclosed on three sides and sliding door if you want to close, and a TV we didn't use- the young ones thought that was pretty cool!). Atmosphere was quiet and elegant but not stuffy. Chef/owner Elmer and his wife were welcoming and the staff was professional and very attentive. Food was AMAZING and beautifully plated. 6 of us- all ordered different apps, main courses, and desserts, and everyone loved everything! Pork, salmon, steak, shrimp, chicken, and duck- all delicious. One member of our party is a chef, and was very impressed. That doesn't happen too often, lol. To other reviewers' comments about price; Yes, restaurant is high end but generally people check out a menu before you go, so you know what your price tag is. After searching for local places, I found this one and decided to try it. First walking in, the atmosphere was very intimate and being alone, I was a little intimidated. I sat down and found the menu to be very broad in the choices. Ended up ordering an avocado crab salad, which was great, yellowfish tuna with papas bravas, delicious, but to top it, a banana tres leches with vanilla sorbet and fresh strawberries. I'm a chocolate type of person, but that homemade sorbet was fabulous! They pay attention to little details, like offering you bread before the appetizer in the shape of a little duck with garlic butter. This is my only night in the area, and they made it a great evening with the meal. The hostess (who is also the wife of the chef) talked with me for a good 10 minutes about the restaurant being family owned, the food, the local area, and her home country. Wow. I'm blown away by this place. First, this place epitomizes the "don't judge a book by its cover" lesson, or more aptly, "don't judge a restaurant by its surroundings." When my friend and I pulled up to the mediocre strip mall in which this establishment is located, we looked at each other with raised eyebrows. Still, we went in and braced ourselves. The service was lovely. Our server was so polite, kind and accommodating. We came on a Sunday night, so the restaurant was very empty. We were promptly seated and had the menu explained to us. We decided to go with the $38 prix fixe menu, which included an appetizer, a main entree, and a dessert (one of the best bargains I've ever found in my life). For the appetizer, I went with the Surf and Turf, which consists of cured filet mignon, crabmeat salad, and horseradish cream. The cured filet mignon was so tender and flavorful. Quite astounding. It's really hard to perfect cured filet mignon, and this place exceeded my expectations. The crabmeat salad was so delicate and lovely - the horseradish cream complimented it so well without masking the true taste of fresh crab. And also, the presentation was fantastic, which I appreciated. Onto the main entree - the pan seared dry sea scallops, which was described on the menu as a mix of "scallops, fresh fettucine, artichokes, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms and truffle oil." I don't recall the artichokes and I think there was another sort of yam thrown in the mix as well as sugar snap peas, but regardless of the ingredient swaps, this dish was delightful. I can say with confidence that these were the freshest, most tender, and best prepared scallops I've ever had. They were so juicy and flavored. Wow. The fettucine was excellent too - not that gross, heavy fettucine one often encounters at more mediocre restaurants. This fettucine was flavored lightly and smoothly and it did not detract from the scallops, which I appreciated. Finally, the presentation of this dish was also just fantastic - balanced and plated in a way that it was very easy to eat balanced bites of all the elements. Last but not least, the dessert - caramelized peaches. The peaches came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, strawberry coulis, and a stack of phyllo pastry. The ice cream was delectable - not too cloy and perfectly creamy. The strawberry coulis was a lovely compliment to the peaches, which were grilled very nicely. But my favorite part was the phyllo pastry. It was amazing. So light and flaky and it almost seemed to melt in your mouth. It was truly a treat. The juxtaposition of all the different textures and temperatures and flavors made this dessert dish unforgettably delicious. Officially my second favorite dessert of all time (after Aquavit's Arctic Birds Nest) - which is quite an accomplishment, considering the exorbitant amount of desserts I've consumed in my lifetime. Chachama is definitely a special restaurant. I only hope that it can find another home in Manhattan/Brooklyn, where I feel like it would do very well. The strip mall that it is located in definitely serves as a misguiding facade for the amazing food behind the door. Furthermore, I'm not sure just how many people in the city of Patchogue are interested in fine dining of this level (and price - as this place is considerably more expensive than surrounding restaurants). When my friend and I went, it was basically completely empty. The host said it was an "off night" and that a lot of their customers were Manhattan residents returning back to the city from a weekend in the Hamptons. I want to see this restaurant do well, and I feel like just relying on Hampton-goers and the few affluent citizens in Patchogue might just not cut it. We came here last night for my birthday. The inside was very fancy with a nice romantic and private atmosphere. I tried the regular price fix menu and my boyfriend had the latin price fix menu. My watermelon martini was great. For my appetizer i got the burrata over crispy eggplant. I'm not usually a fan of eggplant but this was amazing, really the best eggplant and burrata i've ever had and a great combo. My boyfriends appetizer was the salmon crudo which was sushi grade salmon with jalapeños and a salsa verde aioli. he really enjoyed that as wel and said the salmon tasted very fresh. for dinner I had the lamb paparrdelle with goat cheese and basil pesto. It was really some of the best pasta I've had in a while, however I didn't enjoy the lamb too much but I can't blame that on them that's just my preference. My boyfriend got the skirt steak with rice and beans. Although it was good he felt it was overpriced for what they gave you. Overall not the best steak he's ever had but still good. For dessert I had the creme brûlée and he had the chocolate cake. The creme brûlée could've had a crispier sugar coating but was still good, and very filling because I couldn't even finish it. The chocolate cake was really good, melts right in your mouth and paired with vanilla ice cream. You can tell by the delicious smells, and you can see it as the dishes come out and on the faces of the patrons. All in a small footprint, in a strip mall. This restuarant NEVER dissapoints! The food is amazing and the staff and service are fabulous. I have been going to Chachama since it opened and love it. I especially love that they offer the $26 prix fixe (limited choices) and the $38 prix fixe that includes EVERYTHING ON THE MENU! And they offer this EVERY night! So now a really special place doesn't completely break the bank! The hostess who greets you is super friendly. All the staff are great. The Chef/Owner's wife (Mary) is a sweetheart and sometimes waitresses. At the end of the evening, Elmer (the Chef/Owner) goes around to say hello. It's such a friendly, warm, and welcoming atmosphere. Tonight I had tuna 3 ways as an appetizer. The carpaccio was out of this world! Then had the soft shell crabs for my entree. SO delicious! For dessert I had the coconut flan. I am always in search of the best flan, and this is probably the creamiest I've ever eaten! Mmmmmmm. Be sure to try the Oysters Rubio when you go!
