This is a bar review, we did not sit and eat. What a cute place, quite the vibe! The dj was playing 90s boy band music (score!), the drink specials were good and the dessert was also tasty. My friend had a lavender drink which she liked, I had an aperol spritz, both on the ladies night menu ($8 drinks). We walked in to grab a night cap at the bar after our amazing concert at the Patchogue theater. Only to find ourselves in the middle of a Love Island watch party. We were looking for a kid friendly place for a Friday night dinner so we figured we would give Standard Rec a try. It is definitely kid friendly and there were a lot of families so we felt right at home. Our server was very friendly and the place has a cool vibe although the furniture was uncomfortable and the table was too small to be really able to play a game and also have food on the table. We were a little underwhelmed by the menu option but we were all able to find something to order. Our main issue is that our food across the board was pretty bland and the portions were small for the pricing. We start talking about cocktails and he is a true mixologist. Very impressed so far. We started with the homemade fried mozzarella. Freshly made cheese in a tasty red sauce. This starter is amazing. Good for sharing, I highly recommend it. My lunch comes, my wife & I both ordered chicken sandwiches, I had the Korean Style chicken. Great drinks, games and food looks great. We went for cocktails and games, but will definitely eat next time. The atmosphere is fun and casual. It's a large place so able to handle a crowd, bring all your friends. They have all kinds of games from board games to pinball to Jenga. They do host private parties as well. There was one going on while we were there and the food looked really nice. We were just coming in for drinks and to hang out a bit, but I will definitely keep them in mind for the next time as a great place to get a bite. read more

Me and my girls went out for my birthday dinner and this place was amazing! Shout out to my server Taylor M! She was so attentive and made sure our drinks were always filled and our bellies were happy! It is a perfect spot for a date night, birthday celebration and great for kids! It's hard to find a restaurant in Patchogue that gives the energy of a bar yet child friendly!! I got the steak and frites and it was cooked perfectly! The prices are reasonable! Standard rec was a go to for a while they used to have these amazing Mexican street fries but they are no longer on the menu! The food here is always good I really like the Korean steak bowl if you come for trivia or bingo it can be very loud and last time I was there I couldn't find a changing table for my daughter. We had the animal fries (they were good but on other end of table so didn't eat a lot) , 3 bao buns (pork belly, short rib, & a beef one) .. these were interesting due to never having a bao bun. the bun is a soft white like slight gooey, contents slipped out of the bun lol, general tsos cauliflower, sweet corn empanadas, and the bbq brisket nachos. All delicious. Drink I had an endless summer, was okay. Ice cube was massive, one big square ice cube. I took the cube out and the drink was like 1/4 of the glass. Dessert: s'mores crunch wrap, giant cookie ice cream sandwich, churro. Cookie was hard to cut and share Atmosphere was cool. They have board games and arcade games for entertainment. Went for lunch today and I couldn't have been more pleased. The ambiance was 90s and a little eclectic (yes there is a bathtub tucked away in the corner). I had the Korean steak bowl and shared the general Tso cauliflower (cauliflower done up in a batter with Asian sauce). If you're looking for a vegetarian option, this one will knock your socks off. People are so super friendly at this fun spot with games to play and 90's vibes: from the hostess (who was training another hostess so very kindly, which people notice!) to the servers who helped move us inside for rain that never came. Bartender makes a fabulous cocktail - truly it had the correct and perfect amounts of everything, no flavors overwhelmed any others- it was just great. We both had burgers so didn't get too wild but everything came out great. The OG smashburger definitely packs more flavor than the standard - but take a look at the ingredients and duhhh so next time I'll order some add ons. The summer drink menu looks fantastic, especially the ice cream truck dessert cocktails - we sadly didn't have enough time for that this visit but based on the preparation of my one cocktail, I'm guessing they're fab. Weird bonus, I'm a clean freak and we were sat next to the bookshelf which had not a speck of dust on it. So good, ate here twice in 5 days! Saturday drag brunch with Ivy Stalls! For a one person show, she did it all, DJ, host, trivia, dance dayummm she was fabulous! Drinks were also amazing so many options and a special menu for the Lady Gaga theme! One of our friends went for the unlimited espresso martini, our waitress was on point as soon as one was almost finished we thought we'd have to call her over and she was already there with a new full glass in hand. That is what service should be! I also love how their menu has variations in it. Several moments later ... we came in for Taco Tuesday! Another unique menu to choose some specialty items from. All superb and as suggested from other Yelpers we had the general tso's cauliflower, zero disappointment. Note the Crunchwrap's are filling. Two of us ordered individually and both took a half home. Came here for lunch with my boyfriend. So glad we came! I've had my eye on this place for months! Now that we live within walking distance it was the go to for lunch today. It's a barcade! You can't go wrong. Good drinks, good food, old school games and good vibes! We walked in through the back and saw all old school games. Ahh nostalgia! We were greeted and sat by our waitress Stephanie. She was great! We started with a special as an appetizer; chicken and waffle flatbread. It was delicious! All the flavors worked very well together. Standard Rec is a 70's inspired cocktail Bar, Restaurant and Game Room established in 2021. It is located in the heart of Patchogue in the middle of main street. While walking by to another destination I was distracted by the laughter coming from the bar area and couldn't help but take a peak. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and offered a table but declined because the seating was awkward so we opted for bar seating. The bar staff were sweethearts and obviously very creative with mixing and embellishing their cocktails but for the price you pay you shouldn't load the glasses with ice. We decided to try the Korean Fried Chicken Tacos and were very pleased. Tacos were loaded with flavor and a satisfying portion. Would definitely get this again as a take out. We probably would not be returning for indoor seating because after awhile the noise of the patrons was getting annoying. I'm happy the youngsters were having fun but clearly this is more conducive for the college age bracket. They were playing games, jumping around and having a nice time with their friends I would like to get the Tacos again and other items but will order takeout when we are leaving the village. My husband and I went here today and had an amazing time. We had a reservation at 2pm. We were sat by the bar which was way to crowded for us so I talked to the hostess and she was able to switch our table to somewhere more secluded. We spend a total of 3 almost 4 hours here. Our waitress was so attentive, it was extremely crowded because of st Pattie's day parade. She came over every 20 minutes or so to see if we were ok. We had their green beer which at $7 a glass you can't go wrong. For food we had their brisket nachos and pub pretzels. The food was so good and flavorful. The vibe was chill no fights no rude people , we had a great time. The only complaint I have is there was absolutely no service in the bar for us. My husband and I came here for the first time this past Saturday. We've been wanting to try it as we are regulars at their sister restaurant The Brixton. Immediately when walking in I loved the vibe of this place. The bar is big and can seat a lot of people and there are a good amount of tables. There's a few arcade games in the back which they will switch out your cash for quarters for. They have another area with board games and card games that you can bring to your table. As for the food, we started with the birria tacos and it was my first time ever having them and then didn't disappoint at all. They are so full of flavor and a great portion. For my meal I went with the shrimp satay because I love peanut sauce on a dish. they have a good amount of shrimp which came in skewers, sticky rice and some baby bok choy. My least favorite part was how the bok choy was cooked. This is a vegetable I make at home often so I would prefer it done a different way. Overall I enjoyed the dish and would order it again. My husband had the verde chicken bowl which was full of flavor and had a nice sauce and was a good size portion as well. I loved the plantains that came in the dish. Last night (Tuesday), we arrived at 9pm with our 2 grandsons after being stuck on the side of the road for hours due to axel damage caused by road construction while we were heading to Standard Rec. We were all starving at that point!! The free games were being turned off so we tried talking to the manager (who was closing down the free games) she was basically ignoring us, she didn't want to hear anything. The waitress was nice but we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. We've been there before without our grandkids but won't be back and it is amazing how bad reviews spread. Disclaimer! I sat outside & didn't experience any of the games they have or get a feel for the inside. I will probably have to update this review at a later date. So Standard Rec is where Public House used to be. Same owners, new branding. I enjoyed PH for food and happy hour in the past and feel like I will probably say the same about about SR. Service: very good. Our waitress was friendly and although we were sitting outside she was very attentive. She came back frequently to check on us, refilled our water often and always smiled (you could tell eventhough she had a mask on haha). Food: the general tsos cauliflower was very tasty! It was nice to have something different than the Buffalo cauliflower most places offer. My husband and I shared the burger (we substituted the American cheese for cheddar). Heads up-It only comes one temperature. There are two thin patties. It was very good-reminded me of the burger PH used to have (I miss that lobster burger). The fries that came with it were also fresh, hot and tasty! Everything seemed a bit pricey but overall things tasted great. Drinks: a little pricey but pretty creative and tasty. We didn't really understand why there was so much ice in the old fashioned...but other than that not too much to complain about. They have a decent variety of drinks on the menu and they were also able to make my friend a flavored margarita. Been wanting to check this spot out for a while. It's in the village so if you come here during the weekend parking might be difficult. We started off with the friend cheese with vodka sauce and the general tso cauliflower. The friend cheese was delicious, the vodka sauce really complimented the crunchiness and the cheese flavor. It's very thick so don't choke lol. The cauliflower had the right amount of crunch and flavor, although I wish they would go lighter on the sauce. If you love things drenched in sauce go for it, but I think the sauce definitely overpowered the actual cauliflower so if I ever get this dish again I would ask for less sauce. We also tried the taco Tuesday Crunchwrap which is different than the crunch wrap on their menu, it was very good and flavorful, definitely extremely filling. We also tried the Asian noodle salad and I added grilled cauliflower. You have the option to keep it veggie or add other protein. I thought it was a nice serving size. It comes in a Chinese takeout container which I think is really cute but it makes it hard to eat a little bit of everything since it's such a small container. It does come on top of a plate so I just poured it on the pants and it was easier to eat. Overall the restaurant has a good vibe, we were in on Halloween so they had a big screen playing scary movies, not sure if this is the hail but it definitely was entertaining. They have a good drinks menu, not too many options but I actually hate drinking while I eat because I get too full lol.
