Duck breast
Arianne N.

Dined here for a Saturday dinner. We had 6 pm reservations and didn't wait. Parking is a private lot and easy. Their patio area looked cute. I could imagine enjoying dining there in warmer weather. I called in advance to make sure they could accommodate my daughter's allergies. I think it was the chef I spoke to. He mentioned he had allergies too and assured me they could accommodate my kid. Her absolute favorite dish is duck breast. She had no issues with the dish and enjoyed it. They modified it slightly for her. They had gluten free bread but it still contained an allergen so she couldn't have it. It was very thoughtful of them to give her a side of potato crisps instead since she couldn't have the bread. I had the duck as is and enjoyed it as well. We liked how they cooked the duck to order because we like ours on the pinker side. My 6 year old had the filet mignon and fries. He inhaled it. My husband had the lamb chops, which was a special. For dessert, we had vanilla ice cream and a hazelnut soufflé. The kids had sorbet and strawberries. Voila was good for standard French food. I appreciate that they were so diligent about my daughter's allergies and she ate everything without any issues. My only complaint was that there were some lulls in service as our main meals were completed and then during dessert. So our meal felt like it dragged a little in the end.

Quite a good meal, and my friend enjoyed their soufflé but their creme brûlée was small, over cooked (the eggs cooked unevenly so it wasn't smooth like it's supposed to be. It's very hard to make I understand, but they're supposed to be pros) and I really didn't care for the bread pudding. I ended up not eating it. I lived in NOLA too long to eat bread pudding that isn't fabulous. But it might be a personal taste thing. I don't think chocolate goes on bread pudding either so that was a surprise I wasn't thrilled with and the chocolate was a bit bitter for my preference as well. To be fair, my friend had the beef bourguignon and it was quite good as was the prix fix pork medallions and the escargot en croute appetiser that I had. I would definitely have them again but would have dessert elsewhere. I got the French Connection cocktail and it was a bit too sweet for me, but again, this could be a preference thing. Two drinks each came out more than the food portion of our meal so keep an eye on how much your drinking if you are not sure if you have enough cash or room on your card. They do take credit cards but some of us love a bit too close to our limits, yeah I mean me. As critical as I am of their desserts, the meal was good as was the service, just have dessert somewhere else or have the soufflé if you like chocolate sauce which I'm not a huge fan of, but my friend enjoyed it and that is what matters. Desserts are notoriously harder than they look so it might just have been an off night and pastry cheffing is truly an art so make up your own mind.

First time eating here and everything was delicious. Will definitely go back for special occasions.

Roasted chicken breast with Gruyère .....excellent!!

Just did a Google search looking for a French restaurant with a charming setting - this fit the bill and more. The owner was very charming and friendly. We started with the escargot which was nestled in a small pastry basket, and the cheese plate - both definite repeat items.

Scallops with mashed potatoes and spinach.

My husband, myself, and another couple went here this past Saturday night. We wanted to go somewhere we have not previously dined at. I can't compliment the food and the service enough. We had a beet salad and also a buratta special appetizer. For dinner I had the scallops, my husband had the Bronzino special, and our friends had the roasted chicken and pork medallions. One meal was better than the next. We actually sat and discussed what each flavor/seasoning/spice was. The staff was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We look forward to going back.

Chocolate soufflé

The ambiance was nice going on a Wednesday night. It wasn't busy at all just me and my boyfriend and one other couple. I got the chicken breast which was paired well with the mashed potatoes. My boyfriend got the filet mignon and a side of fries. I had the prefix meal where I was able to get the vegetable quiches. The quiches were very flaky and light. The salad dressing in the middle of the quiches was very acidic and vinegary so maybe if the dressing was on the side it would have been better. The chicken was well cooked and the gruyere tasted good on it. I thought the scalloped potatoes under the steak were too peppery but when I had another bite they were pretty good. The soufflé was light and fluffy. I've never had soufflé before but there were more savory bites in the dessert that I wasn't expecting. Overall the food was pretty good.

The apps included: chickpea fries, Caesar salad, spicy tuna crispy rice, French onion soup, and jumbo shrimp cocktail. Entrees included: tavern burger, Monterey chicken club, cobb salad, fish & chips, roasted cauliflower 'steak', and lobster roll (either cold or warm). I went with the chickpea fries, which were very crispy on the outside and extremely creamy on the inside. It is coated in a layer of chickpea powder and then fried. It was very interesting and i'd order this again. It paired well with the harissa aioli. For my entrée, I got the beer-battered fish and chips. My fries were much thicker than everyone else's, and they also came with potato chips that tasted oily. I didn't love the fish and chips and wouldn't order this again, but my friends enjoyed their burgers, shrimp cocktail, French onion soup, and roasted cauliflower steak. Service was good. The wait staff checked on us many times to make sure everyone got their food and that our water cups were full. The outside of Mirabelle is beautiful, and we saw it being set up for a baby shower. Near the bar, there is a sticker machine that takes quarters and offers stickers featuring the Inn, espresso martinis, dirty martinis, and a burger.

The overpriced lobster roll did not have any large chunks that would be recognizable as lobster but did have finely shredded mystery bits. Waitstaff cleared the dishes without asking; never refilled water glass even when requested; and brought out the wrong dessert. Try harder, Mirabelle.

We read a recent review where someone proclaimed the owner to be nasty & unfriendly (sure, I am paraphrasing). Those types of reviews are generally emotionally charged and written by plebs I find. More on that toward the end. Pulling up to a rather unassuming east end Long Island small shopping plaza drenched in rain; opening the door, you are taken back to a semi rustic and dim interior. Perfectly elegant in its bucolic charm- with nice lounge music playing. It is a sit where one likes atmosphere. This is meant with the utmost of respect and candour. We were greeted kindly by the proprietoress (Jacqueline), and handed pleasantly robust binders with the wine list and food. Deciding to treat this in the more European café type, we had glasses and charcuterie. I, the Sagrantino, and her the Kerner. Jacqueline was vocally pleased with our interesting choices. The night drew on, more wine ensued, more food, multiple conversations, and I completed reading through each page and wine choice...finding much to be recognised and appreciated (Kirwan, Moric, Georg Breuer to name but a few) At the end of the night, I asked Jacqueline to pick an appropriate nightcap. She not only delivered, but gave us a wonderful story including the provenance and her experiences - ultimately, the word genius came up more than once. To wit, there was nothing here but an exceptional experience with a like-minded wine enthusiast. I felt welcomed and in the frith of old kin. Nasty, belligerent, dullard atmosphere- indeed not. The place was freezing with the AC on full blast and right above us, another table that sat a few tables away was also complaining about how cold it was. We ordered the kids Mac and cheese and chicken fingers with fries. Unfortunately they brought out a burger instead of my daughter's chicken fingers along with my other child's Mac and cheese and we told them it was wrong. My poor child was starving while everyone else's food came out already and she had to wait for hers but luckily we had some fries for her from our dish to share. I got a French onion soup and you can see it was a bit burnt on top. The soup was too salty and I couldn't take more than 3 sips. My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich and I liked my cobb salad. My youngest enjoyed her Mac and cheese.
