Flew in late to Houston, hungry and looking for something to eat. Chacho's was one of the only food choices available, but I was looking to eat Tex-Mex, so I was in luck. As an avid lover of fajitas, I ordered the 1/2lb order of chicken fajitas. Was pleasantly surprised to find that they served beer and grabbed a Corona. Sadly, while the Corona was sitting in a bucket of ice, it was a warm beer. Happily seeing a sauce/salsa bar, I grabbed my sauces and lots of jalapenos. I love jalapenos! When the order came out, it was the biggest meal I've ever seen in my life! Glad my friend and I didn't order the full pound. I could barely hold up the tray... The tortillas were soft and tasty. The rice was good, and the beans were OK. I was surprised to find potatoes on the order. The chicken was a bit dry, but okay, not bad. Overall the fajitas were good. Years ago my friends and I would go to chachos on westheimer after the clubs. After this trip, either I didn't have taste back then or this location or company went down hill. I ordered enchilada w ground meat, guac salad and fish tacos drive through. Tip: do not go to the outer machine cause it's just for looks (it's busted). When you get to the cashier be prepared for a cold wind machines blowing at you. It was already windy and cold that day so, why have it on? I dunno. The enchilada was salty, rice was Mushy and cheese was like my fat if I saw it outside of my body or old cheese melted in the sun. The fish tacos were like the guard. I wasn't hungry but he forced me to order something so I got the 6 pc spicy wings. And I will say that they were good. I came here for lunch today, but I had a terrible experience. Are usually go to the location off of 610, but I saw the sign off the side of the freeway and decided to try it, big mistake. First I got the shredded chicken enchiladas, but the enchilada sauce was really weird. It was literally like straight tomato sauce. Next, I Got the beef fajita nachos, but they were extremely disappointing. The fajita meat tasted great, but the cheese was really chunky and not even melted all the way. I went to talk to the manager, but they refused to give me a refund. Instead, they told me that they could make me something to go, but if I already had problems with 2 orders why would I want more food? One day last year I went and got a small chicken fajita nacho with extra cheese when I tell you they filled the whole container up with cheese I couldn't see not a chip I had to just throw it away it was just a waste of money I guess they called themselves being funny. So. My friends from the Netherlands are in town, we're driving home from IAH to Clear Lake and we're all starving. Where to take the Dutchies that says Texas? It was fantastic...the food was delicious and the service was just fine. I ordered half a burrito, forgetting how freaking huge their burritos were! But it was vacation time and I was hungry! Hubby and I also ordered nachos to share and he ordered tacos. Damn we had a lot of good food! My Dutch friends ordered fish tacos and quesadillas and both loved their food as well. I loved the atmosphere as it really screamed Tex-Mex and Texas to my friends, plus they loved the food and the salsa bar. This was such a win/win all around! Hey it's Chacho's, not expecting a 5 star meal here. But this is a good spot to soak up those morning after hangovers or to get your greasy Tex-Mex fix. This location doesn't have a full bar, but they do serve ritas & beer. Staff has been friendly the times I've been there & they keep the tables pretty clean. From time to time it can be a bit of a wait for no reason, but it's just never been horrible. I wish they would've left that small patio portion alone vs. closing it in. Coming from the club this was always the place to be going the best margaritas and of course food nachos the delux meal they could have better parking this place gets jam packed the whole entire parking lot is full to capacity the food is okay it could be better sometimes there chips are stale not fresh the cheese sauce is to dry it does not taste good the workers have bad attitudes they could be better. But overall if you are looking for a quick fix this is the area to go to if you don't feel like driving far stop and have a drink the staff does keep the restaurant clean the bathrooms are not the best could use a make over though at least it is toilet paper inside the stalls along with soap I have been to some restaurants where there is no soap or paper in the bathroom. Five star fish tacos. Marinated, not fried. With a creamy salsa, shredded cabbage, ripe avocado & fresh house made corn tortillas. Texas sized so you really just need one. I don't recall ever having a better fish taco in my life. The menu brags about having award winning margaritas which was a good excuse to try one with lunch. This place gets top marks for being open 24 hours. You have to love that! I get the steakhouse beef fajita torta all the time, and it is always amazing, filled with lots of beef fajita, lettuce, beans, avocado, and melted cheese (I get mine without tomatoes). It's so so good! The last 2 times I have gone, they have had this amazing mango salsa. It's got pieces of jalapeno in it, so it's very spicy, but the chunks of mango and jicama are so tasty. Also, if you can get there in time for their lunch specials, you should try them. My favorite is the top one with the fajita taco, rice, beans, tortilla soup, caesar salad, and drink; it's a ton of food for the price! The chips, however, were hard, and the queso bland, but a lot of people still get the nachos anyway. :) Go for the torta or the lunch special! You won't regret it! read more

If you want a cheap place to get some Mexican food and get a little drunk this is the place to go! They don't have a happy hour or anything like that but if it's late and you need a margarita no worries they open 24 hours. No matter what you get the portion sizes are pretty huge. I usually get the chicken fajita nachos full size and share it with a friend! They have patron margaritas as well as frozen Hennessy margaritas so they have quiet a few to choose from! One thing I hate about this place is the low lighting in the restaurant and it could definitely cleaner. read more

This place gets High marks for most likely to be trashedy drunk and having nachos at 2am. I was at a friends house and she recommended this as a late night eatery and we couldn't have chosen a better middle of the road place. I suspect you could get mugged on the way in but having grown up in and around Baton Rouge and NOLA this just comes with the territory. Keep to yourself, go inside quickly and leave your car locked on your old hooptie Honda Accord. I was asked if I wanted queso by a guy who spoke English almost as poor as mine. Now, here's the conundrum. Is queso liquid cheese? Is the pasteurized processed cheese food of the Texan or is this a Mexican guy asking me if I want Cheese on my nachos. After deliberating and some back and forth conversation I got some cheese like substance on my nachos. It was the pasteurized processed cheese of the gods. I had some chipped beef or beef on my nachos and the bar had a large assortment of salsas toppings and garnishes to satisfy any late night guy who happened to have just broken up with a girl and wants to drown himself in salsa to ease the pain of loss. Over pleasant conversation my friend and I discussed love and love lost. How Houston reminded me of NOLA +Mexicans and how fun it is to have a hite guy in the kitchen working with other Mexican and Black folks. Token! The food is ok, don't go expecting high end but I liked it. I felt like Tony Bourdain getting a dirty water hot dog. There's a cultural component to eating something like this in the 4th largest city in the US. Chachos don't let anyone put you down. Nachos are their specialty, mounted high with meat, queso, guacamole, sour cream, and beans. The steak is my personal protein for these. A small or medium portion can be split between two! OK so I visited this place last week and maybe it was not the best idea to go after at 3AM on the way home after dancing with my wife but this place was interesting to say the least. The cashier went down so it look like 15 min before I could place my order. While I was waiting there was a crazy mix of people walking into the place. As expected, at the time that I visited most people were getting out out clubs so a lot of intoxicated individuals and exotic dancers there at that time. The guy sitting next to us decided wake up from his drunken sleep and vomit while I was eating which was pretty gross to say the least. I know you might be wondering why I am even giving this place two stars? I eat a raw vegan diet and to my surprise, the guacamole salad they had on the menu was perfect for me. I typically order sides of lettuce, tomatoes, pico de gallo and guacamole to make this at other Mexican restaurants but they already had it on the menu here. The portion was actually pretty large and left me really full. They also have a fresh salsa bar that is pretty well tended to and had it even included three varieties of fresh and uncooked salsas as well. I am not sure that I would go back, for sure not at 3AM again at least. But if you are vegetarian or vegan, need a quick cheap meal and don't mind the crowd then I would recommend it, but only as a last resorts haha. read more

I went to chachos located on Tidwell lastnight and ordered the pile high nacho as usual, only this time the cooks served me tortilla chips topped with GUNKY & DRY cheese like they had scraped the bottom of the pot, it was disgusting looking. I then took the nachos back to the cashier with a huge gunk of the cheese to show her, she took my nachos back and had them make another order, within the next 3-4 mins they put up another order of nachos for me, AGAIN!
