Very disappointing experience - Tostada Regia on Crosstimbers, August 27 around 3 PM I'm very disappointed with the service I received at the Crosstimbers location today. I normally try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt, but this experience really bothered me. The manager who took our order was a woman wearing black with long hair. I unfortunately did not get her name. We ordered the Thursday special x2 and asked for large drinks. I understood that the special comes with the small drinks, so I specifically asked for large ones. When I received the bill, I noticed that I had been charged $10.50 for three large drinks/refills. What upset me most was that we were never informed that we would be charged for the refills. Had someone simply explained the refill charge beforehand, I would have been able to make an informed decision. What made the situation even more frustrating was that this was the manager handling our order. I noticed she was closely watching the waitress and monitoring every refill to make sure it was being added to the customer's tab. If management is going to monitor charges that closely, customers should also be clearly informed about those charges before they are incurred. I brought the issue to their attention, but unfortunately, I was not offered any refund or meaningful resolution, even after explaining that we had not been told about the refill charges. I have no problem paying for something when I know what I'm being charged for. It's the lack of transparency and the way the situation was handled that was most disappointing. I was also informed that this manager has been working there for quite some time, which honestly makes the experience even more concerning. As someone in a management position, I would expect better communication, customer service, and accountability. I sincerely hope management and the owner take this review seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve how customers are informed about additional charges. Customers deserve to know what they are paying for before the charges appear on their bill. Had a non-Yelp friend pick this place for a Breakfast meeting. This area hasn't gotten bad in the past few years. Lots of homeless, pan handlers and junkies walking around. Pulling into the parking lot I saw two different sets of people opening getting high. I was asked for spare change twice as I got out my car and headed to the front door. Once I walked in, the place was pretty empty. You seat yourself and then a waitress brings you a menu. The service was decent, nothing special or bad. The menu is filled with pictures to help you decide. I picked the Migas and added a side of bacon. Kept my drink simple and ordered a coffee. The food came out rather fast, I would say within 10 mins. They should have taken more time preparing it. The eggs didn't have any seasoning and the corn tortillas were soggy. The beans also lacked flavor. The potatoes were mushy and felt like they were cooked in a microwave. The bacon was cooked correctly and had a nice crisp texture but for some reason was very salty. Even the coffee was watered down. Needless to say I didn't finish my meal. When the waitress came back around and I told her I was done. Possibly some of the best Mexican food I've eaten. It's food from the northern region of Mexico (think Monterrey) and not TexMex like most of us are used to. Meaning, it's not smoothered in cheese and everything seemed to have a tomato-ey style base. I had a mixed taco (3 meats) which was excellent, for a starter. I also ordered chicken enchiladas which were great. Everything seems to be corn-based and not flour which I found interesting. The Jamaica (punch) was good, but terribly sweet. My enchiladas were completely soggy. The tortillas were clearly microwaved by the looks of them and they absorbed all the salsa that was put ontop of them.
