I came here expecting to get blown away. "There's always a line", "get there quick before they sell out!", "super authentic". I got a barbacoa and a mole and my god they were bland. Okay seriously, if you haven't been here you're missing out! This place is tiny but mighty! There's actually two locations and maybe a third if I'm not mistaken. The staff is so nice and there's always a line but it moves quickly. On to the tacos, fresh handmade tortillas, a big variety of tacos (try to get there by 10am, this is around the time they start to run out), they're so big, you may not need more than 2 or 3! You pay when you leave. They do close at 3pm so you want to get there early. I love the mole taco, tripa, huevo con chile, and barbacoa. You really can't go wrong. I ordered coffee, barbacoa taco, and a potato & egg taco. Tortillas were fresh as were the fillings. Didn't make me go "ooooh wooow" on the flavor side, but I will say their salsas were yummmy! The verde is the best. Didn't care much for the coffee though. And no I know this isn't a fancy coffee spot, but mine tasted like it was old or burnt. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. Visited the north side original location. Of course we waited in line, luckily it was a line formed inside the restaurant. Line moved pretty quick. The location Washington is my fave. The one on Fulton comes in second. This one is pretty good too. Oddly enough they all taste a little different. Not sure if it's the same family or not. Can someone confirm this? If you want some real food stop in and try their tacos. They have so many options and from what I have tried they all have been really good. The sauces are good too. I've tried their beef fajita, carne guisada, breakfast tacos and many more. I have always been very pleased with the food here. Really good portions too for the money. Check out the pics I posted. I think you will enjoy them just as much as I do. They get really packed on the weekends but the line moves fast. They are very efficient here. I've lived in Houston all my life and didn't know this place existed until my Fiancé took me absolutely delicious great food and service

My mom told me the nopalitos tacos she tried 6 years ago were different at this location, but I didn't believe her. Well, I'm now a believer, as this location is surprisingly different and better than the Washington location. I'm not sure if the Washington location makes their flour tortillas homemade, but you will see ladies rolling out tortillas with a rolling pin or tortilla press and throwing them on a griddle here. And they're absolutely fresh and delicious! I tried the nopalitos and egg taco as well as their eggs with green salsa. Both were SO good on those homemade tortillas. One other noted difference is the cheese they use here is Oaxaca instead of orange cheddar. It's way better for sure! I also had the agua de jamaica (hibiscus) which is sweet and slightly tart and kind of like a more natural version of koolaid. They have a long line like the other location, but instead of standing outdoors, it winds around the restaurant inside. You get a pretty strong scent of Fabuloso cleaner inside, so I would recommend taking your food to-go if you're sensitive to strong cleaner smell like me. Between the two Laredo Taqueria locations, I would definitely give the Calvalcade one the edge! read more

Great, fast spot for a delicious taco. You order cafeteria style and a waitress will ask if you want drinks and how many are in your party for a table while you're in line. Choose between a corn or flour tortilla - they're fresh! You also have the option to add some refried beans to your tortilla. My favorite is the Barbacoa but there are all kinds of great meat and veggie options. The breakfast egg/potato taco was pretty good, but the traditional ones are definitely the best choice. Brightly painted outside so that you can't miss it when you drive past and an explosion of colors inside, with penants and piñatas, this is a place of the people. A working class, first class taqueria that makes food that the average person coming in both appreciates and understand. Entering, you go to the line of taco assembly, where - in Spanish is best - the ladies ask you tacos for here or to go? Corn or flour tortillas? Beans or no beans? NOW, what do you want on the taco? And the selection, my friends, is great. Carne Asada - stewed and fried chunks of pork that are meltingly tender and well-seasoned-, Chicharon - pieces of stewed pork skin and pieces of meat that is both exceptionally delicious and an acquired taste - huevos con papas, huevos con chorizo, huevos a la mexicana - eggs with potatoes, sausage or with tomatoes, chilis and onions - and beef picadillo - a ground beef and potato filling - are all among the standard offerings. In the bottles, however, the offer the Mexican Coke made with real cane sugar (Not diet cokes, my friend, sorry).. Also, on weekends, they have also had cafe de olla, a lightly brewed coffee flavored again with cinnamon and piloncilo. Speaking Spanish here is most helpful, but not required. I really liked the food and loved the tortillas de harina (flour). You wait in line, order your food at the counter, and find a table to eat/sit at. I ordered a barbacoa taco and egg/potato taco; both really good. The waitress took our drink order while we ordered food and later brought it to us along with red and green salsa. Loved their green salsa! The first part of the restaurant gets pretty hot since that's where they have the food and cook the tortillas. Does have a parking lot. The horchata was beyond sweet, my husband probably has diabetes now. And the worst of all is the music, it was blazing loud and this is during breakfast. It's safe to say I won't return. Also they don't have enough seating. Parties of two are using the 4 seated tables. When families like myself actually need 3 or more seats there aren't any available. The staff should reinforce their guesses to sit at an appropriate table. I've been eating at the Cavalcade location for years. It is my favorite taqueria, not just in Houston, but anywhere. "Taqueria" does not adequately describe the restaurant. They have excellent weekend menudo, a few plates, cabrito, fajitas, etc. This Sunday morning I stuffed myself with three tacos: carnitas, a spicy beef, and eggs with nopales. There were at least nine more options. You need to understand the system. There will likely be a long line. Parking is tight. The waitresses speak Spanish. Do not be deterred. While in line you will be asked if you are eating in or taking out and what you want to drink. When you finally get to order tell the server which kind of tortilla you prefer (both flour (harina) and corn (maiz) are made by hand to order). The server will ask you if you want beans. Say yes; it is a nice schmear or refrieds. Then look over the steam table of offerings and order. Remember there is more than tacos. Do not be deterred by the lines, parking, or the curmudgeon owner at the cash register (pay when you are done). This place is amazing. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE .... You know a great place when there is a 15ft line with every walk of life standing in it. The tortillas are very good ... fluffy and everything that a flour tortilla should be. The barbacoa is the best in town ... hands down and its for one reason .... It's doesn't grease out my tortilla. Which unfortunately the Chorizo and egg taco does so that is not my favorite there ... way too greasy but everything else is great.
