Ok let's be realistic, I'm not coming here expecting 4 star restaurant quality and service - it's just not what you come to Chacho's for! There is a parking lot out front and even a drive-thru! The balcony area is huge and the inside is a good size. It is not clean clean but it's not gross and disgusting like some of the reviews say. So why do people come here?! The margaritas!! You can get some bang for your buck here. The large size frozen margaritas are $7.50 with a good amount of liquor in it. You can get sloshed with a few of these.. That says a lot compared to other places that are more expensive and it's just mix. You can mix and match your flavors - I personally like the top shelf and strawberry. But they have 1800, cognac and coke, hypnorita, etc and 3 different size glasses. And now for food - they have a salsa bar with various types - even a fresh tomato and one with manga. I think they're good for what you're paying - the small nachos, you can choose the meat and cheese, is huge! The large one can serve like 10-15!! Sticky and dirty. It is open 24/7 which is a good business move but it begs to be shut down for a day and thoroughly scrubbed. Then, there are policemen posted up by the bar when you walk in. Um, sir, why is your presence necessary? Yikes!! Also, the policeman walked behind the counter and helped himself to a drink. Is that sanitary??? My friend told me there was a shoot out here before so I guess that's why law enforcement is present. Alrighty. While we were sitting down enjoying our meal an employee walked around with a dirty rag wiping down tables and having a super loud conversation on her phone, cursing at whoever was on the other end. I will say that the staff is awesome for the most part. They are very helpful in helping you navigate the menu and in offering suggestions. This place seems to be very popular for their nachos. People seem to really like them. While they do look very good, delicious even, I'm at that age where I don't like a plate of waste. The drinks are priced nicely, and it's a cool, chill atmosphere when you can't make up your mind. If you're dining in, you're sure to see and hear something to make you laugh. I was handed my order without receiving my change. Upon requesting my change and the receipt, the gentleman on the drive thru window proceeded to tell me he had given it time when in fact he hadn't. It's the middle of the night on a week day and you need somewhere to eat, this is probably one of your few options! The best part about it is that it's pretty cheap... that's always a perk. Also, they really don't care if you go hang out there for over an hour so that makes it good for groups. Me like Chacho's because the food is cheap and very affordable for a college student like myself. The breakfast tacos are yummy. I haven't tried everything else on the menu, though I don't think it will disappoint me. The beignets on the other hand are gross--seemed like it was a big piece of buttery bread dipped in a powered sugar paste. It wasn't good at all. 24 hour Tex mex??? That's a recipe for success, especially here in my beloved Houston. I've been coming here for years randomly, from when my dad used to take me, to those recent nights out with friends where we were needing some good Mexican after a couple million drinks. So do I talk about the 15$ kool-Aid that Nakita Williams sold me in the Drive-through or the fact that her partner in crime stole my credit card and charged up over $3000 before I could cancel it! I sat in that drive-through for at least 15 more minutes while the "looked" for my card. Some one who claimed to be the manager came and said that they don't know what happened to my card but they did not have it. The girl came and said that the other girl moves so fast some times and she apologize for that. She also kept asking me if it was in my wallet and she was telling me that I had a lot of cards in my wallet so it was probably there. I showed her my wallet and went through all my cards (gift cards, yes I have a ton of gift cards...I gave them my only credit card). The "manager" came back again and told me that there was nothing he could to and that I just need to cancel my card. By this point my baby was in the back seat and screaming at this point, so I just said forget it and decided to head home and cancel the card as he suggested. As I was driving off Nakita said "I hope you find your card". I don't know if she was trying to be funny and knew that the girl didn't give me back my card or was just being genuine. Also what I should have done was pulled over and canceled the card right then, but my child was screaming I just needed to get her home and calmed down. By the time I get the baby home and to sleep I'm getting fraud alerts. Didn't know what to expect, but the line was out the door and the wait across the freeway was over an hour. You order cafeteria style and then find your own tables. The whole area was swamped with church youth groups but the service was still fast and friendly. We ordered nachos, a combo plate, and a half burrito. It was less than $30 and could've fed twice as many people. The food was actually really good, it was just too plentiful. The fresh salsa bar was also a very nice touch. The ambiance and cleanliness of the place was the only reason not to give five stars. But you're not going to get such a delicious heaping pile of food at a nicer place for this cheap, either. We sat outside and it's really noisy with the traffic and freeway nearby. The staff were very courteous and insist on bussing your dishes. We tipped on the bill paying it before picking up the food, then tipped again for our busses at the end. Should have just left cash at the end. We sort of just wandered in here but it was a pleasant surprise. No, it's not super classy or super clean, but there is great cheap food and friendly service. I've been here a handful of times and I haven't had a dish that I didn't like. My favorite is the beef puffy tacos (though they are greasy AF, but I digress). Yesterday I really wanted breakfast food so I ordered the beef breakfast taco. It was so good! Lots of beef and eggs in the freshly made tortilla. I love the salsa bar. I had cilantro, onions, and the creamy cilantro dressing. My friend had a medium order of beef nachos and it was enough food to feed 3-4 people. I didn't have any alcoholic beverages yesterday, but I have in the past though I think it's usually been beer or a vodka tonic, not a margarita. The iced tea yesterday was bitter. It tasted like it had been sitting in the container a little too long.Unfortunately, a lot of restaurants have that problem with their iced tea. Pros: -24 hours -Drive thru -Breakfast is served all day long -The food is delicious and cheap Cons -Service: it's hit or miss. The cashier I had yesterday thought it was more important to have a non work related conversation with another cashier. She didn't even take the time to acknowledge me. Came here for a late night bite after a show at the NRG Arena. I ordered the small chicken fajita pile high nachos with everything on them and also got a medium frozen margarita. The nachos were good and surprisingly filling for just $5. The margarita, however, was not so good. First, it wasn't frozen. Secondly, it was kinda weak. It tasted fine, but came with zero strength. They supposedly use top shelf tequila, but I'm not buying it. Not the best ambiance or vibe inside either. Kind of like a couple steps above Taco Cabana. Ok...I don't even know where to start...maybe from the time we walked in, sat at "the bar" until we asked if there is a bar tender. The people sitting next to us said we had to go stand in line over by the counter to place an order. No bar tender and the bar was just a storage spot for liquor bottles that I don't even think they use. Half of the other tables were dirty and not bussed. We had to move previous trays/drinks off of our table just so we can have a place to sit and eat ourselves. The employees taking your order seemed to be alright...maybe a slight "I don't like my job" attitude and "tired of working here" kind of spirit. I don't blame them one bit. The place was so run down and there's so much they need to do to update it...BUT...they were surprisingly extremely busy. Once we ordered our food and we were given our receipt which had our ticket pick up food number on it. They call out your number in the kitchen area. Make sure you're listening carefully, because they didn't have a loud speaker. We ordered 2 beers a piece because we didn't want to have to wait in that line again along with the large size chicken fajita quesadillas. There was no description of what was IN the quesadilla, but what I ASSUMED, is it would be like an actual fajita. You know...onions, peppers, chicken and filled with cheese. Cheap, decent-quality Tex Mex. There's counter service for ordering and they give you a buzzer to pick up your food when it's ready. Most of their platters are absolutely massive, even their full size quesadilla is enough for two people. Their breakfast platters are served all day and they're bigger than the lunch platters. The bartenders pour a stiff drink. I swung by with some friends after work and we ordered a round of Captain and Cokes. The bartender filled the cup about 80% of the way with Captain and splashed a bit of Coke on top. We had to request additional Coke on the side just to make the beverage more of a cocktail. I'm only docking them a star for the dirty tables. Sometimes it can be hard to find a clean one, or you have to grab some napkins and clean them off yourself. read more
