Michael, the owner, greeted us and took care of us! We started with the Jumbo Crab Fingers which were really good - I'm honestly not huge on seafood, so I enjoyed these a lot more than I thought I would. Ironically, I'm not big on oysters either, so I ordered the Jumbo Golden Fried Shrimp which hit the spot real good. Large shrimp, well fried, flavored, and the tartar sauce was addicting. The fries that came with it were perfectly seasoned, carrying a bit more of a cajun flavor rather than just regularly salted. My parents definitely enjoy oysters, so they ordered the Charbroiled Oysters and really enjoyed it, as well as the Uni Oyster with Quail Egg. They also got the Cowboy Lobster Shrimp Roll that was gone before I even took a second look their way. We finished the meal with a yummy, dense basque cheesecake! Every customer that came in during our time there was personally greeted by Michael, and it seemed like they were all repeat customers. It was really cool to see that kind of connection, and it really showed how much Michael cares about his customers, and how much we like his food! Indoor seating is a bit limited - all bar stool seating. I rarely comment on the music that a restaurant plays, but I quite liked it! Made me feel like I was on the bay enjoying some fresh seafood at sunset. Heard they'll be opening up their newest location at POST soon!

We go here pretty often and sometimes we switch it up from, the nori box, the hand rolls, and the nigiri's. You can't go wrong with either of those! The pricing here listed along with their quality Is totally worth it! Chef Cong is truly a people's person!

Since the restaurant is fairly small, I recommend making a reservation, especially for parties larger than two if you'd prefer a table over the sushi bar. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and while the food came out a little slower than expected, the elegant atmosphere and quality of the experience made the wait worthwhile. My family and I ordered a variety of dishes from the Houston Restaurant Weeks dinner menu, the tasting course, and the à la carte menu. Without a doubt, my favorite was the Nori Box, which my sister and I shared. Each piece of fish, including the scallop, salmon, tuna, hamachi, and toro, was paired with its own topping that complemented the seafood beautifully, making every bite unique. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Scallop Crudo and the Truffle Mushroom Pasta from the HRW menu. While I did not get to try The Core 4 myself, my dad could not stop talking about it. Another standout was the Lollipop Lamb Chops, which were incredibly tender, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering. For dessert, we shared the Durian Crème Brûlée. The aroma of durian was much stronger than the flavor itself, which I actually appreciated since I'm fairly neutral on the fruit. The one thing I would skip next time is the Hibiscus Breeze. It had an artificial floral taste that reminded me far too much of scented hand soap. Overall, this meal lived up to my expectations. Between the high-quality seafood, creative dishes, and inviting atmosphere, I can definitely see myself returning to work my way through the rest of the menu.

I've shopped around a lot for a karaoke place I like. And with Neway, I found it. From the start…read morethe staff was helpful on the phone with booking the room, helping with room size to number of people calculations and just answering general questions. The place itself is also extremely spacious and well decorated. There's a general area for people to eat and mingle and sing, and there are big private rooms for parties that want to have smaller gatherings. The private rooms are great! There's plenty of comfy seating, a large table, 2 mics and a large screen. Disco like lights really make the experience fun and lively! And most importantly, a large catalogue of songs in several languages. The staff member gave us a tutorial of how to use the technology. Later, due to a glitch, she also gave us a discount! The food is also very tasty. They have main course dishes, as well as lighter items. I tried some of the mochi ice cream and it was lovely!

I have been back for karaoke and dinner parties this year. So, it's time to do an update…read more  I am used to the pricing structure at Neway Restaurant & Lounge for the karaoke portion. It's the most logical and easy to follow amongst the karaoke bars in Chinatown. There are different sizes of rooms, starting $30 for the smallest one to fit up to 8 people. Then, it goes up to medium $40 an hour, that was where I hosted my recent party. It can fit up to 12 people.  My party was during the week. I chose to rent the room and have a 10-course meal with drinks that reached the minimum of $295, which doesn't apply to the hourly rate. My guests ordered some drinks. Everyone was happy while we sang 4 hours to the end.  On the days that I don't have parties, I sing in the main dining room solo. The rule is $20 spending per person regardless of party size. If I didn't order that much, they would charge $20 for karaoke. The computerized screen has the most popular songs in many different languages. I only sing Standard English songs. There are few Spanish songs but you have to know the singer by name to search for it. Sometimes, the songs need to be downloaded or it may not be available to download.  The atmosphere is so hip. You don't have to sing if you don't want to. My friend that came with me was happy to be there. He just watched me while eating some Chinese noodles and drinking his Blue Moon Beer. It's a rectangle bar with the back area reserved for gaming, the middle section is where the bar is and the front is the karaoke stage. Seating is scattered around the place. You have to go to the desk just inside the door to get a wrist band. This is not a serious place to go to have a drink. Its all about the visuals. The parking lot had a lot of litter and trash thrown on the ground and that pretty much sums up the type of place it is.

It would have been much easier if we'd been directed to that menu first. There were also photos of drinks displayed on the counter without prices, so we had to ask about each one. The staff had to enter every drink into the computer just to tell us the price. We ordered two drinks, a ham and cheese croissant, a lemon blueberry loaf, and two macarons. We received the drinks and macarons, but nothing else. We waited about 10 minutes, assuming someone would call us when the rest of our order was ready, but no one ever did. I finally went back to the counter, and the employee said, "Oh, I thought the other girl did it." While we were waiting, I had plenty of time to look around. The tables, booths, and chairs were dirty. There was food on the tables and floor, and the front door looked like it hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. One employee was sitting on what appeared to be her personal laptop, laughing and watching something instead of helping customers or cleaning. I remember working in food service years ago, and one thing that was drilled into us was, "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean." That definitely didn't seem to apply here. The food itself was okay, but having to remind the staff to finish our order was disappointing. You're asked to tip before you've received any service, yet everything is self-service and no one checks on you. I don't mind self-service at all when it's organized and the restaurant is clean, but this experience felt disorganized from start to finish. I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I left more frustrated than impressed.
