Tried their food truck at local market days event. Customer service was very good but their food quality was not up to par for the price. Got the smash burger and fries. Fries were under cooked (maybe because they were hand cut fries). A good crinkle fry is good. The burger was tasteless. Very little or no salt and pepper. We paid 15 dollars for something that should have cost no more than 10. I once had a double meat smash burger with a great bun and crinkle fries at a local food truck and paid 12 dollars. The Fry Guys (Visited Feb 2025) This place is located on Westheimer Road in Houston, and is unique to me in that I have not encountered another such as this before. I believe this should be a must visit in Houston if you are in town. What I ordered was its Texas Fries.(Smoked Brisket, Cheddar Cheese, BBQ Sauce, Chives & Sour Cream). The taste and textures were very different and the meal was excellent. Add some hot sauce to the meal, and you will be in another level of Heaven. The one thing I would do the next time I order would be to have the bedding fries cooked longer so they are more crispy. Overall, an excellent meal, and highly recommended. Definitely a 5 out of 5. Very long wait. Grant it there was one person taking orders and making the food. Food was okay but not anything I ever have to come back for. I had the Philly cheesesteak fries, wasn't enough meat and way too much fry sauce. The lemonade was pretty good. I paid about $21 for my order l, I would say it wasn't worth it. The customer service was impeccable the cashier was friendly and welcoming, which I truly appreciated. However, one person handling both orders and cooking meant a wait time of 45+ minutes. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the wait. I ordered the Bayou Fries, and while they looked promising, the shrimp was way too salty borderline inedible. The seasoning was heavy handed across the board, and the flavors just didn't come together. The sauce was actually the best part of the meal. When the lady asked if it was my first time and confidently said, "You'll be back," I thought maybe I was in for something special. But as someone from NOLA, I can honestly say nah, son. Yet again another subpar black-owned restaurant in HTX with poor customer service and food quality. Upon my visit the lady that rang us up was pleasant and recommended a few items that she raved on. We got the Wings and fries, a side of Black Truffle Fries and Jell-O Shots. The Jell-O shots were the best thing we purchased. The fries were soggy, not crispy at all. However, the biggest disappointment was the chicken. It was rubbery, salty, and literally tasted like they were fried in old grease. So, I called them to let them know I was dissatisfied and that I was willing to bring the food back. Which she agreed for me to bring the meal back in. As I am on my way back, I receive a text that she spoke with the owner and he said: "no exchange and no refund." As someone who was a small business advocate and lender for many years. l know it is certainly not easy. This was such a sad excuse for fries. I ordered the pizza fries. Asked for ranch and for the fries to be extra crispy. Ranch was forgotten and gave me in this tiny tiny cup when I asked about it. Fries were almost uncooked. It's said to have marinara, cheese and pepperoni's. There was zero marinara so this dish ended up being 95% fries with nothing on them. All for $15. I unknowingly came here the last time I was at White Oak and remember thinking that their fries need WAY more extra cook time. Decided to give it another chance thinking that everyone has bad days but nope. Also I don't know if the person taking orders was high or just really distracted. I originally ordered a catfish basket which I was told they were out of fish so I settled for bayou shrimp fries. I also ordered a steak and lobster fries and after I was charged for that was told they were out of steak but offered another meat instead of refunding me the difference. We had the Fry Guys provide food for a wedding and though the food was incredible, the service and customer experience was not good. Would not recommend using them for a large group as it will take a very long time. It took 3 hours to feed 120 people. The owner would not take responsibility for being unable to deliver the timely service we were promised and would not admit that that they should not have accepted this job. Many guests left hungry and upset. They begin serving at 7:30pm and the back tables didn't receive food until 10:15/30pm. The owner was unprofessional in hearing the customers experience and did not genuinely apologize and hung up, refusing to offer any sort of partial refund because they're a small business. The food was the only thing that didn't go well at the wedding, but it is a mistake that affected many guests experience. Bottom line, don't use them for a large event, but rather enjoy them for dinner just for you because their food is good. read more
