Everything but meat was in those bs tacos. More is in the bag where i was pulling it out of my mouth when I was eating the second taco. That was before I noticed it all was entrails they was serving up like it was real beef. Then I looked through the 3rd taco and seen it was all entrails and scraps. Prolly wasn't even beef. I've been wondering about this place for years, I bring my truck to service at the Firestone next door, for the past ten years, from the outside this looks like a small building, and you don't ever see to many cars outside, but this place is huge, cozy at the same time, clean, service is outstanding, they serve you fast, and people come and go, they also have a drive through, which explains why I never see yo many cars outside, but long story short the FOOD, I tried their tacos, they had a lot of meat, the chicken fajita, and the shrimp were my favorite, the beef fajita is well chopped to where you don't really have to chew much, but it was well seasoned, and not over seasoned, the flour tortillas were home made, the corn aren't , the lemonade was really good, but come see for yourself, it is not a Tex Max place, is more Mexican but with different twist, different flavor. read more

While I was waiting on my car to get worked on I went here. The customer service was pretty good I could tell they weren't native English speakers but their English was far better than a lot of Mexican restaurants I've been too. The price was fairly cheap and it took about 5 minutes for my food to come so pretty fast service. The food was pretty good except for the complimentary chips and salsa they were a bit flavorless. I can tell the food was freshly prepared in their kitchen from the taste and texture of it. The dessert options are little and they come from a bakery in Pasadena but the choco flan was pretty good. If you want some 100% authentic Mexican food late night (until 3:00 AM) and you are willing to venture to the city's historic East End neighborhood then try El Alteño!! The style of Mexican food is from Los Altos de Jalisco just outside of Guadalajara. The food and service are top notch from an establishment with a modest exterior/interior. You walk past the grill/kitchen when you enter the restaurant. The service is very friendly and bilingual. Although translation isn't necessary in my case (I speak fluent Spanish), I can say that the flavors and sauces were all "100% casera" (made from scratch) on the tacos (pictured) I ordered. If you ever want FRESH SQUEEZED JUICE, then you can stop by and get the freshest orange juice around! I will definitely return with my wife (who is from Guadalajara) to assess her opinion of their authenticity. Went there with a coworker today who insisted it was better than Del Sol. I'm not that big of a fan of del sol, but it's not terrible... thought I'd give this place a chance. Ordered the gordita (2 of them... chicken and beef fajita), fries, and an agua de melon as well as a lemonade... like I said, I wanted to give it a shot. Our group was 7 deep... now that you have a nice mental picture, let's begin the review We were seated quickly and the servers were great. If we had stopped there, this place would be a 5. Chips and salsa started us off on the wrong foot. One of our baskets had stale chips... and the salsa is basically pureed tomato. The spice level was like somebody just thought of putting some jalapeno or serrano but never actually got around to it. I'd feel comfortable feeding it to a newborn as tomato soup. Spice level on the green sauce was another story. From 1-10 it was a solid 7 spice, but no flavor. Someone should tell them it's ok to add some salt. The agua de melon was disappointing. It wasn't horrible but I wouldn't order it again. Lemonade was slightly better but not by much. From what I could tell, the horchata is popular with what seemed like regulars. If you still go after my review, order that. Now the food. It passes the eye test for sure. Still, S&P would go a long way in waking this bland food up. If you have a salt limitation in your diet, this is definitely the place for you. Beef better than chicken. Fries were cooked just right... but they had one issue... you guessed it... no flavor. This place has been here for years it's a neighborhood staple. It's clean and bright. Best place to go get Mexican food before a game. It's right across the street from the metro rail so we ride it into downtown for Astro's and dynamo or rockets games. Food is great my favorite are the Parilladas but if you're on a budget they have tacos gorditas tortas burritos and tostados for under 5 bucks. Also specials every weekday!! They're different daily but tuesdays mini tacos are a steal. Menudo and pozole on the weekends is good too. They also make all their aguas frescas daily.. My favorite are melon and limonada. This is a great place to go to if you want to be disappointed. The food was okay, nothing outstanding that you can't get at another Mexican restaurant but the service is truly disappointing. When we told her she messed up on an order she gave us an ugly face. She didn't only mess up on one of our orders but 2. I use to come here all the time. Especially on the weekends for the menudo and pozole! They had some of the best in the hood and the portion size was great for the price. Their other dishes were fine too. Nothing amazing just good. The last few times that I have been here, the quality of their food has been horrible. But after my last experience I will not be returning... I ordered 3 menudos to-go and when I got home not only was the cup less full but there were huge bones in each of the cups. I guess to "feel more full" not only that the onion and cilantro for garnish were spoiled. No thank you! Keep your fraudulent goods. We ate here on our way into an Astros game at Minute Maid park. The margaritas were excellent and so was the service, but the food was very disappointing. It was bland and not authentic Mexican or Tex Mex. Our enchiladas must have been store bought and not made fresh. The cheese was rubbery. My husbands Nachos looked like they were from 7-11. I'll admit, their food is so delicious and well priced. My one star review comes from the drive thru service they provide. I've gotten my order wrong so many times it's not even funny. One time they didn't send my son's taco leaving him without food. This was after I was assured by the woman at the window that everything was ib there. It wasn't a hard order, just a parrillada, mojarra frita and the one taco. I *just* got back from there again and they messed up my child's order again. I had a tough time trying to order my food at this place because none of the waitresses that work there speak any English. The waitress that was trying to serve me had to get the cashier that spoke English but the cashier wasn't fluent at speaking English. I would say on a scale from 1 to 10 she was about a 6 when it comes to speaking English.The atmosphere of this restaurant was pretty smooth but the food was sub par the burrito I ordered had little to no Fajita meat on it. My husband brought me to this little out the way place because I was dying for some Milanesa. No one makes it better than my mother-in-law (in my opinion) but I have to say that they did a great job! I was really impressed. So much so that I ordered my other guilty pressure...Pozolé...needless to say I could not finishe both, but am more than happy to carry-out. The refreshing lemonado was so good. For feeding my husband & daughter the price was reasonable & the portions were more than enough. I do recommend this little diamond in the rough...oh my husband order the bowl of menudo & loved it & my daughter got the nachos...I will say that the guy never asked if we wanted more to drink, but he was still some what attentive..somewhat...lol read more
