I am a travel nurse in KC from Colorado and I was having issues with a tooth that had a root canal from years ago. I googled this practice and went in terrified ready for some serious dental work. The practice was kind and patient, and did some 3-D X-rays. Turns out it's not the root. They didn't sell me a procedure I didn't need, they emailed my Dentist back home the x-ray and they gave me a USB drive to give to my doctor. I've had over a dozen root canals and the one I just received from Dr Chad was one of the easiest ones I've had. He was caring and informative. He also used gentle wave. My dentist told me that I needed a root canal. I ended up here because they were the only endo that was in network with my dental insurance. You walk in and there are like 10 people all having surgery at once! It's a total cash cow considering that insurance pays like $800 per root canal. I was scared. The dental assistants were very kind and tried to be reassuring. When it was my turn, the doctor came over and looked in my mouth, blew some air on my teeth and advised me that I needed TWO root canals. Bingo--$1600! The procedure was rough and the doctor acted like he had a plane to catch. While removing the pulp from my tooth (shivers) my head felt like it was going to leave the chair. The next day, my entire jawline was swollen--work was out of the question. It was awful. The next year I had to have another root canal and had a totally different experience at another endo. I would never return to this doctor, despite them being the only ones "in network". read more

This is my 3rd root canal, and Dr. Chad Wollard was the fastest of the three. He did it in a 2 step process, which I hadn't seen before. Step one was cleaning out root, infected pulp, placing medicine in hole, and and sealing it. Two to four weeks later he finished the root canal. Apparently this is to prevent infection, and it worked well for me. The price was about the same as my other root canals ($800 pre-insurance). Everything about the experience was quick and efficient, from check in to procedure to billing. They are a well-oiled (and well funded) machine. Both appointments were so quick and easy. The assistant would check me in, do xrays or whatever was needed, chat, etc. Then Dr. Wollard came in and told me what they would do. He applied numbing creme, disappeared to do someone's shots, come back and do my shots (Always an ouch...never had a non-ouch shot, but his were better than a lot of others'), leave for 5-10 to do a procedure, return, do the procedure in minutes, and then be out of there. I first came in as a "dental emergency appointment"...called at 8AM at the insistence of my dentist. Name dropped my doc and asked if I could be seen the same morning. By 8:30, not only was I seen, but I was done with the first part of the procedure and on my way to work. It was great! The second procedure was the same way. My only feedback is that bedside manner could be improved a little. It is not bad, just could be enhanced. Dr. Wollard was nice and did the standard appropriate bedside stuff (introduction, explain procedure, etc.), but he was also very brief and onto the next procedure. Not a lot of chit-chat or rapport building. For me, that's not a deal breaker, but it seems it has put off other patients. What I appreciated most was his precision, skill, efficiency, and ability to get me in and out. He seems an expert at what he does, and it was definitely my best root canal experience...now if I can just figure out how to charge $800 for 15-30 minutes of my time... ;) read more

This place is a root canal assembly line, run by a dad and son team. Now, that could just as easily be a negative thing, but these boys have it down. I walk by 15 horizontal patients to the end of the hall, where found my awaiting chair. I sat there in my paper bib and took in my excellent view of the Plaza. I wondered to myself if any of the Standard Style hipster girls were looking back at me thinking, "poor sucker." Trust me, all is not painless- have you ever had a syringe jammed into the bone in the roof of your mouth? No words can describe the pain. Have they used that as a form of torture yet? If not, that's a good one. What I will say is, the doctors here are quick, they have it down. Your chair is spun around towards the exit before you know what hit you. The dental assistants are the real stars here. They provide all the bedside manner, do all the prep work and sooth you with calming voices. They distract you from the fact that this is not a fun process. No offense guys, but I hope its my last visit. ;) read more

I had an emergency needing a root canal. My dentist called Valencia Endodontic Assoc. Dr. Ronald R. Wollard and Dr. Chad C. Wollard. They keep open appointments for emergency needs. I did not feel like they were working me in or that I was being a bother. I did not have to wait, they got me right in and I was out my noon. They were very professional and welcoming. The staff and the doctors made me feel I was in the right place. They all were nice, kind and gentle. Respectful of the pain I was in, not just another number. It was clean and very modern. Dr. Wollard is EXCELLENT!!!! I've had root canals before by my "regular" dentist ... but from now on, I'll only use Dr. Wollard. The front desk was efficient, professional and friendly. My appointment was at 9:00 and I was in my car by 9:50 ... and the best part, it didn't hurt. This group is AMAZING!!!! I really can't say enough positive things about the group. This is their specialty ... root canals ... and they've mastered it. It is a two-step process to ensure they cure the infection and then a follow-up to check it and compete the process. Any criticisms about it being a root canal "assembly line" are misguided; it's an incredible business model and plan .. these doctors know what they are doing (as opposed to my "regular" dentist who doesn't perform root canals every day); their set up is efficient and streamlined ... coupled with the fact that these doctors are experts, I HIGHLY recommend them. I can honestly say that getting a root canal from Dr. Wollard was a pleasant experience ... and that's saying a lot! read more

I got an evaluation there, and in the end I felt like a product in an assembly line. The Dr never made eye contact with me, quickly looked in my mouth, a quick glance at the x-rays, and was told I needed surgical procedures. The assistant pretty much told me the same information on a brochure that was given to me. I did not feel comfortable there, nor trusting. Root canals suck. This office made it suck way less. Their staff and process make Henry Ford jealous of the efficiency coming out of this office. Dr. Wollards Office is in the Valencia building on the Country Club Plaza. If you're using GPS like I did, it may not show you how to get to the parking lot for the building, but know that they do have one off 46th Ter between Broadway and Pennsylvania. If you park off 47th Street (like I did) just cross the street by Scooters Coffeehouse and go up the giant flight of stairs. This was the hardest part of my visit next to being at the Plaza but unable to stop for coffee or shop. It was just mean. The office staff is pleasant and Dr. Wollard is excessively informative. All the walls are really just partitions of sorts and you hear everything going on next to you...everything. Once the Dr. makes his way to you he is lightening fast. It makes you think, "That was it?" In the world of root canals this is a true blessing. Their anesthetic is the bomb, too. If your insurance allows you, I highly recommend this office for all your endodontic needs. read more

I was in Kansas City, Mo. For Business, I had an unexpected Pain in my upper Molar. I called Valencia Endodontics they we able to Schedule me in at end of the day. The Staff was very professional, and got me in on timely manner. After X-ray of my Teeth I was introduced to Dr. Chad Wollard. Dr. Wollard in Formed me that I had 3 infections, and they all should be treated. Dr. Chad Wollard informed me about a new Root Canal Treatment called " The Gentle Wave Procedure". I was only in Pain on one tooth, but after the First Treatment of the Gentle Wave which was Painless, I asked if we could treat the other two infections. That same afternoon he informed me that yes, and he treated my second infection. Again the procedure was fast, and Painless. Dr. Wollard said he could see me at the end of day the next day,and would fit me in for the 3rd infection. Being Like no other Root Canal Treatments I've had, I agreed, and the Gentle Wave was a complete success, again Painless. This piece of crap was only supposed to do an examination to see if i NEEDED a root canal, but instead he looked at my tooth for all of a minute, stuck me with the needle and THEN told me how much it was gonna cost, which was way outside my current budget! I appreciate the speed of service, but fill a motherfucker in on cost BEFORE you start sticking him with anesthetic, dude. I was in pain. I called eight endodontists, they were scheduling 2 weeks out. I called Dr. Wollard, they worked me in that day. They never turn away a patient in pain. Thanks to them I was able to leave the country for vacation. He is very personable, efficient, and does quality work. His ability to give painless numbing shots is stellar. He just completed my second root canal to my complete satisfaction. These guys are good. I came to them after a failed attempt to get into my own dentist because the pain was so unbearable. The staff is so nice and professional and Dr. Wollard was great (father).
