Food is excellent- they make their own bread! Awesome sandwich selection! You could try one new sandwich each day of the month and not have a repeat! Service is good too-everyone that works there now is super friendly . They greet you when you come in and have you 'sit wherever you'd like', and it seems like they enjoy their work. The owner is a great dude & I see him regularly working in the kitchen alongside his employees. The Ambiance is mostly really good too- they do have TV's and will have whatever sports games going that sports watchers like- but they aren't loud so I (as a non sports person) can easily tune out/ignore it. I really enjoy the variety of board games and card games to choose from! Kid friendly as well - games for all ages available and some coloring books too. I was there working recently and noticed the music playlist start over - when I went up to the bartender and made a request they were happy to honor it. I had the most bizarre experience here. Chadd's has been a staple in Rochester Hills for quite a while, and their move to Shelby Twp in a larger place should do nothing but help them. That said, I had such a bizarre experience ordering carry out today. I called and ordered a pastrami and Swiss and rye. Thats it. A pastrami and Swiss on rye. I was told that I couldn't have that, because they don't do "made to order." So I ordered a sandwich that had pastrami and Swiss on it , and "removed" every single other item (at least 5+ other items). They said that's fine, and now, I suppose I have a pastrami and Swiss on rye. Weird. I went to get my order, and I got my $16 sandwich. I paid with a $20 bill, and was awkwardly asked if I wanted my change. As if I wanted to leave my change as a tip for ordering carry out. It was incredibly awkward and forced, but I didn't want the hassle so I left it. I asked for mustard. I was told that they don't have mustard. A sandwich on their menu says that it has stone ground mustard in it. Evidently, I couldn't have that because it wasn't part of the sandwich that I ordered. So they have do mustard, but I guess you have to order a sandwich that has mustard to get any. They gave me some special sauce instead, which was good, but this mustard situation was bizarre. I mean.. what are we doing here? All in all, the staff were friendly. The sandwich was wonderful. But the bizarre nonsense that I experienced here will cause some hesitation on trying again. I paid $20 for a pastrami and Swiss on rye that I had to strangely order, with no mustard, because they "don't have any" despite other sandwiches on the menu that do. It's a very small diner, there are 5 counter top spots and 15 seats around the tables. There is no bathroom here. I grabbed a bottle of IBC root beer, ordered a turkey Rueben and added sauerkraut, which was extra, since it only comes with slaw. I got the combo with the bottle soda, side of fries and Chadd's special sauce for dipping, also extra. Total comes to $15.21. They charge 3% to use a master or visa here. Takes a bit of time since everything is made fresh, fries included. 2 groups of 3-4 people ahead of our order. The pickles are $.25, would think I should get a pickle for my sandwich, isn't that an assumed given? No pickle with your sandwich here, added cost too. I think it's safe to assume every extra condiment or added item will be an extra cost. My root beer has gotten warm while waiting for our Reuben, took about 15-20 minutes to make our one sandwich and that's after having to make 7 before us. They were nice to split our Rueben and fries. The turkey meat looked odd, had a gray color, could it have been because it was from the legs and dark part of the turkey, can't say I have ever seen it this strange anemic color for a deli turkey before. I had a hard time getting over the weird coloring of the turkey meat and kept me pondering through eating my half of the sandwich. The slaw and sauerkraut weren't bad, couldn't tell there was any Russian dressing on it and as a whole it was rather bland tasting to me. It tastes much better with chadd's sauce and gives it a nicer flavor. They were even featured with Jason Carr on the news when he was channel 4 with live on the D. Clearly Jason lacks some buds, this place feel way short of being good. It was very subpar for all of the hype they have gotten on here. At least house of flavors in Ludington uses real turkey sliced meats that are distinctively turkey to me. I used to live right by here and drove by Chadd's for quite a while before I made it in. And now I have so many regrets I didn't come sooner! Despite the construction outside, this place is building some seriously great food inside! It's not a big space but it's welcoming and there are some great tunes playing while you're waiting for your food. You can sit at the tables or at the counter and watch your food being cooked. I ordered the Highlander and it was melt in your mouth delicious. Roast beef, Cheddar, Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, the fantastic homemade horseradish sauce on home made buttermilk bread. SO SO SO GOOD. I made it a combo and added fries. The homemade ketchup was so good also! The portion size was so big I could barely eat it all. Definitely going back and taking half home, because I was so full I could have laid down and just took a nap. I should preface this review by saying that I had spent several hours waiting in the hospital before visiting and skipped a meal, so I was STARVING. Consequently, everything on the menu looked great. As it turned out, everything I had tasted great too. I ordered the Highlander (roast beef sandwich with cheddar, Swiss, grilled mushrooms, horseradish and other yummy stuff) and an order of poutine. Both were heavy on the sauce, which was just fine by me. The poutine was exquisite - crispy fries, melted cheese curds and a very tasty gravy. The Highlander tasted great too. The bread was perfectly grilled and the sauce totally made the sandwich. I would order both items again in a heartbeat. I look forward to the next time I'm in the area for a visit to Chadd's Bistro - hopefully not with a hospital visit first. read more

I love this vibe. Restaurant space is large, homey game space, the hostess is friendly and remembers everyone's name. Decor is modern and minimalist without trying to hard. The food is delicious. We've been coming to Chadd's since he was at the other location. Everything is just as wonderful as it ever was. Had the cheese steak tonight. Meat was super tender and veggies were fresh. I have a whole half to eat tomorrow it was so big! My husband had the Maguro. It was very flavorful and a huge portion as well. My daughter did just the cheese pizza. This place was phenomenal! This was our first time here and we all loved everything we had. The fries are cut and fried fresh and taste amazing. I had a BLT, but the chicken and my nephew's peninsula salad was seasoned amazingly. My sister's Cajun salmon salad was a crowd pleaser, the tuna melt and the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. Tucked away in a somewhat vacant strip mall, Chadd's Bistro offers a variety of sandwiches that I promise you'll have dreams about in the future. The large, detailed chalkboard menu shows you what sandwiches and subs they can make you from scratch. I promise you'll likely be standing there for a while trying to figure out what you actually want. It's a bit overwhelming, but that just means they must be doing something right! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. My boyfriend and I have stopped in a couple times already and we've always had a wonderful experience! The cooks crack jokes with you and always make an effort to get to know you. Our meals have always been delivered hot to the table and we've never felt rushed to eat by any means. The place may be a tad small, but it also has a cozy and home like feel. I love how fresh and affordable everything is. Most sandwiches carry a $8 to $10 price tag but you'll likely be left with two meals for that price. WORTH IT! Also side note: THEY CARRY SWEET POTATO FRIES! COVID-19 update: Chadd's is still open! I've frequented Chadd's quite a few times over the years. They have been a pillar in the food community for years. I will continue my patronage throughout the pandemic because I simply cannot live without their food! That being said, I just finished off a delicious grilled ham and cheese. This sandwich is toward the top of my list of best sammies at Chadd's. They stack some absolutely incredible ham, cheddar, provolone, muenster and honey mustard on some of their homemade (and grilled) wheat bread. They usually put a happy helping of their homemade honey mustard on it. I'm a honey mustard snob, and Chadd whips up some of the best in the business. It's the right combination of that spice of the mustard and the sweetness of the honey. I love it. Pro tip: add some lettuce and tomato to this sandwich...it really maxes out the flavors. Since Chadd has safety in mind during the COVID-19 pandemic, he's allowing customers in the store to place orders and pay. After you pay, you can wait outside and they'll bring your food to you. Also, for those customers within a 5 mile radius of the restaurant, Chadd's is offering free delivery of your satchel of succulent sustenance. Seriously...I can't say enough about this place. Chadds Bistro has always been one of my favorite sandwich spots in the Metro Detroit Area. I've always gone the hardcore joe and when I'm not in the mood for anything too spicy I ask to remove the Wasabi. I'm not one to usually get a combo, but at Chadds I do. The fries stay crispy somehow even after a 15 minute drive home. And don't get me started on the ketchup, it is by far one of my favorite aspects about the restaurant. If I could just buy a bottle of Chadds ketchup for home I would. It's that good. The only knock I could give the restaurant is that there is an up-charge for using credit cards (visa and MasterCard). This adds to the overall price so that 2 combos might run you $30. read more

This is a 3.5 star review. Yeah, I am rounding up. We arrived at 1PM and there was only one other couple present. My bride ordered the salad with tuna. I ordered a cup of garlic-potato soup and a tuna melt. We shared. The salad greens and cucumbers were fresh, crisp and chilled. The tuna filet portion was generous and cooked well done. The salad dressing was wonderful. I'm guessing homemade, not Sysco/GFS. I would order again. The garlic potato soup was very good. Nice big potato chunks with the skin still on. I love garlic. I could taste garlic. I wanted more garlic. My bride said it didn't need more garlic. I would order again. The disappointment was the tuna melt. The tuna seemed fresh, but the recipe and preparation were not up to the level of Chadd's other sandwiches. It was served between two pieces toasted bread. Pretty certain that it was not grilled on the flat top. I doubt that it visited a broiler. If it had, it needed more time. Barely a hint of warm. The two slices of cheese were still intact slices of cheese; not the gooey melt that I expect for a tuna melt. No tomato slice(s). Served solo in a plastic basket. For some reason, I was expecting a pickle spear. The tuna salad recipe itself ... could have used a teeny bit more chopped celery and I was unable to taste any mustard or pickle in the tuna salad at all. I will not order it again. read more

Ugh, how do I describe Chads Bistro in this tiny little space? When I order take out, I like to find places that are making their own things from scratch. And Chads goes above and beyond. Homemade ketchup. They order their bread from someone local. Everything is fresh and their know their source, and you can tell in the taste. I've had the salmon fromage (amazing), the turkey rueben, the turkey club, and the Buffalo chicken. Their fries are to die for. Likely twice fried but not in some gross soy oil. You'll have a hard time putting them down. We at least visit every year to celebrate my daughters birthday bc this was my "last meal" before going in for our induction at Troy Beaumont up the road.
