I first learned of this business due to their kindness donating to "Ashley's Dream" to honor my former neighbor's daughter. I tried the grilled #2 and that continues to be my "go to " every time since it's so delicious. I also recommend the Dr. Brown's black cherry soda to complement the corned beef classic sandwich which includes Coleslaw & Russian dressing on rye . They grew their business within the same strip mall and the dining room is nice. There's also seating outside on a beautiful day. We came as a family and ordered the daily special - turkey favorite grilled, turkey and Swiss sandwich, and Italian sub. Food was very fresh and delicious. I highly recommend getting your sandwich grilled (meat and cheese warm and bread grilled) it was delicious for the turkey favorite. We also got chips, oatmeal raisin cookie and pops. Each sandwich came with a standard dill pickle. All was tasty. Food took a minute to prepare as it was busy, but means it was freshly made. Tables were being cleaned as people left. Only negative is again no changing table in either bathrooms for baby/toddler. Got the number eight which is Turkey on rye with slaw and thousand island dressing with cheese. I got it the biggest size and it came out to be about $10. The Taste was on par with the price and was definitely filling given that it was the largest size. The lady at the counter was helpful in helping me decide between the most popular sandwiches which are the corned beef and the turkey, I opted for the turkey because it was slightly healthier in my opinion. If you get the sandwich or any sandwich you should get it hot, definitely recommended. Last visit, We got the Dill Rye Doubler and the Grilled Ham as is, no substitutions, and no substitutes were needed! Well crafted and good sizes. And so many options on their menu. The cream of broccoli soup was good - it was not too heavy or salty. The corned beef sandwich I ordered was also pretty good. The meat was thinly sliced and not too salty. Very good deli in an unassuming spot. I've lived two miles from here for almost six years and drove by this place countless times. Never had any idea such goodness was inside. The place was super busy at lunch time on a Wednesday but they had a ton of people working (a surprise to see given staffing issues at so many other places) and things moved along quickly. I made my own pastrami sandwich and it was really good. My wife got a corned beef reuben and hers was even better. Will definitely be back to try their other options. The menu is quite large, and very customizable! You can have your sandwich cold, hot, or grilled. This deli was really good. I enjoyed their egg salad the most! The sandwiches come with a pickle spear. The chicken sandwich was actually sliced chicken and not chicken breast. I stopped here because I had just seen a doctor in the area, I had fasted as requested by the doctor. So I was hungry and I thought that a deli sounded good. I really didn't think Breakaway Deli was all that good. I ordered a Reuben sandwich and a small side (called a micro here) of Potato Salad. I also selected a diet soft drink. The total came to $ 9.22. So the cost was OK, but the Reuben was kind of scant as was the "Micro" of potato salad. Later I saw that you can upsize your sandwich for an extra charge, but I didn't know that when I ordered. And the price I paid for a small sandwich and a small potato salad was not any bargain. So I would not recommend this place. read more

When I started working in Troy I learned of this deli and its greatness. I highly recommend checking this place out. My go to sandwich is the chipotle turkey which is listed on the daily specials menu and not the regular menu. They offer GF bread which is also pretty great. You can choose three different sizes in the sandwich- big, bigger, biggest. Everything I have tried so far has been delicious, and I am convinced they have the best egg salad I've ever had which you can order a side of in a few different sizes. Keep in mind that sandwiches which are grilled take a little longer to make, but you can order online before you head there so it is ready when you arrive. The staff is friendly and the deli is always clean. They also have a big patio to sit at when the weather is nice. Overall, it's always a great day when you get to eat Breakaway. read more

Tasted more like a corned beef. I've had better pastrami from the deli counter at Ninos. Cheese was flavorless & you call that a dill pickle? They really need to go to a better supplier. The staff was very friendly and quick. I was in and out during the lunch rush, which was surprising, especially for the area. Sometimes I hate that I know i'm going to write a short review, but I think going on and on isn't really needed for Breakaway. Sammiches are top notch, portioned decently, and priced very well. I love being able to have a Chicago dog, and a deli sammich in the same sitting! So far i'm in love with the #3, which is a mix of pastrami and corn beef with slaw and russian. I get it grilled on an onion roll. Solid 4 stars. Only the most authentic, and best of the best get rated higher. I like my corn beef for a reuben to be a bit more coarse, vs a corn beef lunch meat that I believe is used here. If it's in house corned beef just sliced razor thin, then my error. Pastrami I like a thicker or more pronounced bark for depth of flavor. Really nice staff. I shall return from 2 miles west of you for many more nom nom noms. read more

Just found this great sandwich spot. Lots of space, super clean and really friendly staff. I had a sausage and egg bagel sandwich with an ice tea, all for around $6 before tip. Added white onion, so happy they had white raw onion and it wasn't by default red onion. Then we had the spicy Turkey chipotle sandwich grilled. Their meat is nicely thin and piled high. ****Their bacon, which is above all of the reasons we decided to come here, is cooked every morning. No precooked garbage bacon here. It's nicely crispy and not too thick or thin. Just right. We absolutely loved our meal, the variety of drinks as well from water to teas to soda and Gatorade. Most of all, happy they have unique brands of soda. We tried a brand we haven't tried before for cherry soda and it was probably the best cherry soda we ever had. We pay attention to cleanliness and it seemed like they keep a tight ship and all employees have separate duties like the order taker isn't making the food and the one making the food is not ringing in the cash register.
