    #21. The Italian Sub

I freakkkkking love everything about Breakway: the staff-- who don't lead you astray w food recs, the sandwiches, the cookies!! If you've never been, you're missing a Troy gem! Most recently I forgot my lunch, so I headed in on a cold day, not sure what j wanted. I asked the fella at the counter how their Reubens are, and he told me they're very popular--and now I know why. The sandwich was fantastic; hot meat on a toasted bread w the perfect amount of kraut to meat to thousand island dressing ratios. One thing I will mention: they're very busy at lunch, so be sure to either order ahead, or be prepared to wait a few minutes if you arrive during the rush.

Great place for a quick lunch! We've come here a few times to get a sandwich and sometimes a quick coffee. This place is pretty legit and is really quick with their service. What is also great about Breakaway Deli, is that they have a rewards program! So you get to earn points when you dine here. It's relatively inexpensive here, and they have a pretty large area to sit and eat.

We came as a family and ordered the daily special - turkey favorite grilled, turkey and Swiss sandwich, and Italian sub. Food was very fresh and delicious. I highly recommend getting your sandwich grilled (meat and cheese warm and bread grilled) it was delicious for the turkey favorite. We also got chips, oatmeal raisin cookie and pops. Each sandwich came with a standard dill pickle. All was tasty. Food took a minute to prepare as it was busy, but means it was freshly made. Tables were being cleaned as people left. Only negative is again no changing table in either bathrooms for baby/toddler. Menu online has slightly lower prices than in store and drinks and extras not listed in the board but in random places as you walk the line.

Got the number eight which is Turkey on rye with slaw and thousand island dressing with cheese. I got it the biggest size and it came out to be about $10. The Taste was on par with the price and was definitely filling given that it was the largest size. The lady at the counter was helpful in helping me decide between the most popular sandwiches which are the corned beef and the turkey, I opted for the turkey because it was slightly healthier in my opinion. If you get the sandwich or any sandwich you should get it hot, definitely recommended. Do you know that if you add extra veggies such as tomatoes, banana peppers, cucumbers and others they are an additional charge, but lettuce is not. I would come back for a quick lunch.

I came here with a coworker for lunch and it was decent. Not something I'd be craving to return to when thinking of places to go out to eat, but not bad. The cream of broccoli soup was good - it was not too heavy or salty. The corned beef sandwich I ordered was also pretty good. The meat was thinly sliced and not too salty. I do wish the bread was more remarkable there - it was cold, plain, and kind of dry. It didn't have that crispy crust like good bread at bakeries.

Fast, fresh and friendly. Got the #3. Really enjoyed the quality of the corned beef. Wasn't chewy and tasted fresh. First time there and the lady was really patient with me. Sandwiches come with 4oz of meat but for like $1.50 you can add another 2oz. I got a cookie and water. Ended up being like $11.25. Very fair for wha I got. *picture shows only half of the sandwich. I had already eaten the other half

Grilled corned beef, swiss, cole slaw, on rye!

Turkey Club was great. Next time I would ask for the bread to be less toasted on both sides.

Central Park Deli was the first restaurant on the list to participate. The article said mention the ad from Troy Times or Facebook to get the 20% off your bill. Afterwards, save your receipt to turn into the Troy school of your choice. The school that collects the most money in receipts will win $1,000 cash prize. Unfortunately the employees said no, we aren't participating in that and other customers mention this and we won't honor the discount. I showed them the FB announcement where their Deli was clearly listed and they still said No. ??? This made me frustrated. My total for a wrap, cauliflower bites, and a drink was $22. No discount. False advertising and unpleasant customer service. I posted the Facebook announcement of their restaurant listed below in my pictures. On the positive side, the deli is very clean and food was delicious. Their menu is extensive with many choices of wraps, salads, sandwiches and soup. I appreciate you can customize your wrap with a gluten-free wrap and not many delis in the area have that option.

I very much enjoyed the sandwich but the value at $17 is a little much - the height was perfect but felt the overall size was a bit lacking. Also - depending on your preference, I would probably order extra coleslaw if I ordered this sandwich again, the ratio of beef to slaw was a bit lacking. The cream of broccoli was a nice accompaniment to the sandwich but was kind of salty and a bit on the starchy side. Overall - definitely a good place for a deli sandwich just a little on the pricey side - think Zingermans without the friendly service....

This is one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" spots where the food does all the talking--and it speaks loud and clear. They have an extensive menu to include vegetarian options which was nice to see. They also have many local brands to include chips, sodas, and other small local business products (caramelized nuts, baked goods, etc.)! On the topic of local businesses, they also had a board which allowed local owners to post business cards and event alerts, fantastic for drawing the community together. Now, I ordered a Reuben as a lover of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was delicious and sizeable, a fair portion size for the money as well. The chips were also delicious having gone for the salt, pepper, and onion variety. A solid crunch and bursting with flavor. Among the positives I have two negatives, both of which are not adequate enough to lower their star ranking. Firstly, it took around 20-25 minutes to get our food after ordering. I rarely hold timing against a restaurant as having worked in food, I know lunch rush exists and things happen. To mitigate this (for those in the area) I believe they have an online ordering system, which I would recommend utilizing! Secondly, they do not have indoor seating, so it is a very grab and go type establishment. This is counteracted by the multitude of benches around Royal Oak, though it would be nice to have some amount of seating, especially for those with accessibility needs and those waiting on their food. Overall, Oak House Deli is solid and delicious and I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area!
