It has been a while since I have been either in the market for a bike or even needing a tune up on my old bike but his year was a bit different. I was needing a tune up and in the market and CRC helped out in both cases. I brought my old 2001 GT mountain bike to the folks at CRC and its like riding a brand new bike! They have a basic tune up and then they have one that is more detailed; I chose the more detailed tuneup and WOW I am so glad I did. Worth every penny. As for buying a bike I did not purchase from them but they let us test out all kinds of bikes to see what we actually wanted and what would fit so fantastic customer service. This will be the only place I take my bike to from now on! read more

I was on a ride and my handle bars were loose . I stopped in and asked them if they would tighten them . ( simply tighten the screw as I held the bike )i I also bought pedals which they did put on . They charged me 12.00 to tighten my handle bars . read more

I gave these guys more than a few shots, but they were pretty crappy each time. Demo bikes were not outfitted for the rider (suspension, tire pressure not checked; broken pedals) and staff were not super interested in answering questions or solving inventory issues. Some of the floor staff were unable to answer pretty basic questions (which is fine) and weren't able to get more knowledgeable staff to help them find the answer (which isn't fine). read more

I brought my bike to Chain Reaction Cycles for some much needed love. I was a little nervous because I am not exactly the picture of a bike rider. But the people were very friendly and helpful. They checked and inflated my bike tires, oiled my rusty chain and check the gears and brakes. Outside of the air and oil my bike was running well. When I asked how much I owed they said nothing. I was surprised and thankful. So if you are looking for nice and honest people I would recommend checking out the old firehouse off Huffman for Chain Reaction Cycles. read more

Ordered the Assioma Duo because the price was much cheaper. CRC took the money out promptly from my bank via Paypal. Three days later, they canceled the order due to some "IT" issue. Probably never have the item to start with, they could have sent it once they fixed their issue. Had to go thru Paypal to get my money back. What a hassle. Thanks CRC for wasting my time. read more

I have been to many bike shops in my time, and at least one out of every 2 visits results in me leaving swearing under my breath. The cycling culture can be pretty snobby. Riding can be pricey and I feel a lot better about spending my cash at a place where the workers treat you with some respect instead of making you feel like you're inconveniencing them for existing. This shop is full of dudes that are actually pretty cool. I take my rig here whenever I need something done, even though there are about 5 other shops that are closer to where I live, that can probably sell me similar parts and do the work. On top of that, I've received great advice every time I've been here and they've helped make some adjustments (sometimes on the spot) to get me absolutely stoked to ride as often as I can regardless of how cold, wet, or dark it is. And that's the real test of a bike shop, right? It also doesn't hurt that they have a legit espresso machine if you need something hot and caffeinated. If you are in the market for a bike, go demo a 9zero7. I love mine. If you are thinking about tweaking your setup, go see them. They'll hook you up. read more

I had a gift card that was about 5 or 6 years old that had gotten misplaced. It was a gift from my daughter who at the time had very little money but saved and bought it for me. She was young and did not notice the fine print that it would expire rather quickly. That is unheard of in gift cards and illegal in many places. I had hoped they would honor it but of course they did not so they made a profit off of my daughter's gift. Not a good move for a local business with many competitors. I will of course never buy anything there again and will make sure all of my cycling friends know how they treat their customers. Both of my children now ride and own multiple bikes as well as many of my friends. I'm sure they don't care, but that's ok at the end of the day an expiring gift card is unethical and they took advantage of a young woman who was just trying to buy me a meaningful gift. read more

These guys are awesome. Best bike repair in town IMHO. I live in Peters Creek and will make the long drive to SoAnchorage to get the work done. My experience has been that they try hard to do things right, will correct things if there's a continued problem, and will come up with an innovative solution to safe you dollars as well. Great place for mountain bike rentals for visitors. I was in town for a 4-day weekend and wanted to find a nice full-suspension rig to take on some XC trails in Kenai Peninsula and in Kincaid Park. The downtown/tourist bike rental shops did not have what I was looking for in my size of frame (Medium/16-17".) Chain Reaction had nice full-suspension 29ers for rent. At $50 per day for 2 days it was totally worth it. The shop is also outfitted with a full range of road and MTB supplies and accessories. They are a few miles south of downtown but that was actually advantageous to where I was heading. read more

I don't do reviews very often but my experience with Chain Reaction on Huffman Road compels me to write this one. Simply put, this is by far the best bike shop in Anchorage! You feel like you are the only one in the shop when you walk in and are greeted by one of the great bike mechanics. They waste no time in fixing whatever problem you are having and get you back on the road again and they fix it right! I was having problems breaking spokes in a custom build fat bike with carbon wheels.... they contacted the manufacturer on my behalf and in less than 24 hours, they rebuilt both wheels and I was back in business! If you are considering a custom build and want it done right the first time, this is hands down the only place to come in Alaska! read more

A great selection of bikes for all sports and seasons and tri gear. They rented me a great Scott roady for $50 for 24 hours. Bring your own helmet, shoes , water bottles and pedals but way better for a real bike than other spots in town. Easy drive to Kincaid park and access to coastal trail. I found knowledgable peeps and good quality for my buck. read more

The guys in the shop are always helpful and will go out of their way to help you out, or share a little knowledge. Lots of parts in stock at a fair price and will get your bike back on the road in no time. If you have never had a true professional fitting, they do a great job and is well worth the money. Amber is knowledgeable and friendly. I have tried other shops in town and every time I leave this one I say what a great shop. I can't say that about any other bike shop. Always friendly and great service. Expected to just buy a new chain but they had installed in less than ten minutes.

BEWARE. I returned a package to CRC by post.nl. Although it was delivered and signed for, CRC claims they did not receive it and refuse to refund. Second problem concerning the same order: one of the items was missing. Again CRC claims they did pack it. Don't believe anything of what they say anymore. Client support is non-existing at CRC, once they have your money, they're gone. read more
