Worst place for bbq. Nothing to eat but 40$/person. Don't waste your $$$. Go somewhere else. Nothing good to eat. Bill include 12% tips but the credit card machine still ask u for more tips, just skip. Check your bill 1st before paying.

I came here with a friend after not being here since before the pandemic and the prices have definitely gone up but the service remains great! There was no wait time here on the Thursday evening I went in, while the Gyubee in the same plaza already has a wait time of 1 hour. We were seated right away and within 5 minutes we already had our food ready to be grilled, which was amazing. The servers were super attentive and despite me being one to drink so much water that we usually end up getting the water pitcher brought to our table whenever I go out to eat, my water cup remained pretty much full for the entire meal. Empty plates were taken away really quickly too. The food was exactly how I remembered it pre-pandemic, however the sushi was kind of cold and a tiny bit stale. I don't really recommend getting the fish since it sticks to the grill and is hard to fry properly due to this. The ice cream is different now where they have packaged little Chapman's icecream cups but it was still fine. Parking is a breeze here since it has a large parking lot that it shares with the large plaza. It is also easy to transit here as it's right at Midland and McNicoll.

I love coming to this all you can eat Korean bbq place whenever i visit Toronto. The service is always good . Quality of meats and everything else is also always good. They have a senior discount !! When busy, they limit seating to 2 hours i think . Trust me, you will be so stuffed after an hour , you don't need more time . They used to offer really nice ice cream dessert but I guess due Covid , it's only ice cream cups ... quality not so delicious ! Don't order everything from the get go... you won't be able to eat it all ! Go with one of most things only , then re order . Pricing is excellent too.

They had amazing lamb and beef it was very well marinated, all their food was very good, they had amazing customer service and the scenery was very nice.

I came here last night for the first time for the AYCE dinner (usually I only come here for late night). This review is based on my collective experiences as a whole. You can expect the wait times at chako to be decently long at times, especially on a Saturday night. I waited for maybe 50 minutes this time around, and it kind of sucked because by the time we got in they were already doing last call for sushi. So a good tip here is to not come at an awkward in between time like 8:00... either come early for dinner or wait until 10 for late night so your time is maximized. The menu selection is a lot more extensive when you go for dinner, as you can choose from sushi and more meat and veggie kbbq options. Last night the beef was a little off, as it was too thickly sliced for my liking and was super dry... though I've never had problems in the past with their beef. Their kimchi is by far my favourite part about chako ever... I don't know how they prepare their kimchi but there's a bit of a sweet taste to it which is really good... I have yet to discover any other restaurant that makes kimchi as good as them, not even close! Service here was pretty good. Servers were always nearby to cater to needs and came with everything in good time. Our server said what each dish was as he put them down, which I could appreciate. There could be a bit more improvement in little attentive things though, like refilling on water. To sum it up, chako is a great place to come for AYCE kbbq. It's a given that you can't expect as good of quality in beef as a la carte places. For me personally, the variety you get for regular dinner is nice, but I'll likely stick to coming here for late night only, because it feels more worth it. For the price of regular dinner here, I think I would prefer to go somewhere else. As well, the benefit of having too much selection turned into a drawback for me because I got stuffed pretty quickly off of all the rice in the sushi. The late night options are more than suffice, as they include all the necessities for a satisfying kbbq experience.

Not my first time going, but's it's been a long time since I've been. The place has a very modern look to it. It has a romantic ambiance, but can also be good for friends. We went in for the late night cheap option. When you compare the full dinner menu to the late night menu, you still get a lot of great options. Highest points: Firstly, the cuts of meat were great. They were cut thicker than usual, but still cooked quickly. Second, the marinade used for the meat was delicious and made the food all that much better. It was a good blend of sweet and savoury. Definitely think that the pork was the best part. Third, the wait staff was kind and welcoming. Even though it was a late night, they were still walking around with smiles and helpful. Lowest points: The ventilation was pretty bad. I had a hard time breathing near the end. I could also tell I had inhaled a lot of smoke because my lungs were burning. It was also smoky (a constant layer of fog) throughout the place. It may have just been a fluke, but that's what it was like. I would definitely go back. The price is definitely worth the food.

Service: I went on a Friday night with around 20 people so we reserved seats but we still had to wait for a bit. The lady at the front desk was a bit rude but our servers were really nice. They came back to fill our waters around 5 times in the 2 hours we were there and they also provided us with many napkins. Food: There was a wide variety of meats, veggies and sushi to choose from as we went for weekend dinner. The meat looked frozen but they tasted relatively the same as other acye korean bbq joints. The salmon for the sashimi tasted kind of old but were still edible. I don't blame them as they're not a acye sushi joint though. The ice cream come in small portions and they're really good and you can order more. Price: I ended up paying $40 for only myself which is quite expensive for an acye korean bbq. Price was $28.99 but they added on a service fee and then after tax came to $36.70 and then I tipped the waiter $3.30. Keep in the mind that the total prices they give you don't include tip for the waiters. Environment: It's a very lively and modern place to eat at but I came home with my clothes smelling like kbbq. I don't really mind that though. Overall, service was great, food was adequate, price was expensive, and environment is nice. I wouldn't come back though as there are other places that are cheaper and price is a big factor for me.

One of the well known ayce places that serves both kbbq and sushi, my friend and I ventured here, hoping to fill our tummies. We went during the afternoon on a weekend and there were still many tables unoccupied. In the first round, the server told us that they'd bring out everything and they just take back anything we didn't touch. The quality of the meats were okay but I enjoyed the beef ribs the most. I felt like for sushi, they packed lots of rice hence filling us up quickly. All in all, I felt that the price we paid for the food wasn't as up to standard as I wanted but service wasn't too bad!!

My pork bone soup was not too spicy, and the pork spine had plenty of meat. My favorites were the sweet soy-braised tofu skin, japchae, and spicy cucumber salad. The hot barley tea also paired really well with the marinated seafood. Marinated Crab The platter comes with six half pieces of soy-marinated crab and six half pieces of spicy marinated crab. The soy-marinated crab tasted very traditional, with a strong sweet soy sauce flavor. Compared with another Michelin pop-up restaurant I tried before, this version was much richer and saltier. The blue crab meat had a soft, jelly-like texture from the curing process, which was impressive. However, the soy sauce became quite dominant after a few pieces, so I highly recommend pairing it with the beef tendon soup or barley tea to balance the flavors. The spicy crab, however, wasn't my favorite. Instead of the sweet, savory heat that I usually associate with Korean gochujang, it leaned more toward the direct heat of Korean chili flakes, similar to the spice level in tteokbokki. I felt the spiciness overwhelmed the natural sweetness of the crab rather than enhancing it. Marinated Shrimp I was worried that eight shrimp wouldn't be enough, but the plate was huge. They use giant tiger prawns, each about the size of my hand, so two or three are already quite filling. Because the prawns are so large, they are only lightly cured, so the meat stays firm and springy instead of becoming soft like the Cantonese-style marinated shrimp I'm more familiar with. The sweet soy marinade penetrates the meat very well, making every bite flavorful. However, after a few shrimp, the soy sauce becomes increasingly dominant and the flavor starts to feel one-dimensional. Personally, I prefer the layered flavors of Cantonese-style marinated seafood, where the freshness of the seafood is complemented by ginger, garlic, cooking wine, and fish sauce. Beef Tendon Soup This ended up being my favorite dish of the meal. The broth was rich with beef flavor and had a wonderful silky texture from the collagen released by the tendon. It paired perfectly with the marinated seafood. A sip of the soup cleansed the palate from the strong soy sauce, making the next bite of crab or shrimp taste fresh again. The tendon itself was tender and well-cooked. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the mustard soy dipping sauce served on the side. Overall, this meal felt more like experiencing two very different marinated seafood traditions. Korean-style marinated seafood emphasizes the deep savory flavor developed through soy sauce curing, while Cantonese-style marinated seafood highlights the natural sweetness of the seafood with layers of ginger, garlic, cooking wine, and fresh aromatics. Even though I personally still prefer the Cantonese style, I enjoyed experiencing this traditional Korean approach.

We ordered the bossam, seafood pancake, and budae jeongol and the bill came to ~$100. The bossam was quite a large portion and the flavour was quite delicious. Our favourite item was the seafood pancake. We devoured that and if given a choice to only order one dish, I would definitely recommend the seafood pancake. The budae jeongol (as a solo dish) could easily feed two people. They pack the soup in two large circular soup-like takeout containers and the ingredients in a square container - same as the ones that the bossam and seafood pancake came in. There were plenty of tteokbokki, sausages, cabbage, and ramen noodles. We put the dish together in a wok and kept it heated on a portable induction cooktop. They gave four containers of banchan: fish cakes, japchae, radish kimchi, and mandu. My only complaint about this experience (4.5/5) was their inaccurate waiting time. I called in around 5 PM on a Wednesday to place my order and they quoted that the order would take around 20 to 25 minutes. I showed up ~30 mins after I called and they didn't have the food ready until 5:50/5:55 PM. I understand that they're busy, but I would have appreciated a more accurate wait time.

When I brought this up, the chef came out and also mentioned that he had forgotten to pack my two containers of soup. Thank goodness I checked. Unfortunately when I got home, I noticed that he also forgot to pack my two white rice that comes with my soup. So just make sure to double and triple check before leaving when you get your take out! Diners tuck these soft meat slices into lettuce, Napa cabbage, and turnip with a smear of the savoury bean sauce for a protein packed bite. Our table was split about the haemui pa jeon ($28.99). The size of a medium pizza, it's made for a group. Personally, I found it way too thick and didn't contain enough ingredients to balance out the doughiness of the Korean style pancake. Conversely, my relatives preferred the heft as it contrasted the crispy exterior and soft interior. I guess it depends if you're a thin versus pan crust type of pizza lover. I'm firmly in the Neapolitan camp. I thoroughly enjoyed the crust that develops on the bottom of yachae dolsot bibimbap ($18.99). And the hot stone rice bowl contained a good combination of ingredients to ensure there was plenty of vegetables and beef to go around. De Chou's LA kalbi ($34.99) was rather neutral with very little sauce, so you mostly taste the beef. The sign said it opens at 11:30 a.m., and true to their word, the doors opened exactly on time. The restaurant itself is quite large and impressively clean -- that was my first good impression. We originally went in because of the sign outside advertising Korean ginseng chicken soup, but when we asked the server, he told us it's no longer on the menu. A bit disappointing, especially since my wife wasn't feeling well and I thought that soup would've been perfect for her. We ordered two Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbaps ($21.99 each). The portion was decent, but the flavor was a bit bland and not salty enough for our taste -- overall I'd give it a 6/10. We also tried the Japchae ($13.99). Unfortunately, it was too greasy, a bit slimy, and overcooked -- about a 4/10 for me. They served five small side dishes, which were just average (5/10), and a small cup of noodle soup that was lukewarm and slightly sweet -- not to my liking, as I prefer savory over sweet in Korean food. The total came to $65.51 before tip, and we left a standard 15%. To be fair, by the time we finished lunch, there were quite a few tables filled, so maybe other dishes are better. But based on what we ordered today, the food didn't live up to the price. Would I go again? Probably not.
