We stopped at Chalet Lanes in downtown Wisconsin Dells after a local told us they have the best burgers in town. While it wasn't the best burger I've ever had, it was definitely much better than some of the over-hyped places in the Dells. The burgers were good and fresh, with a nice variety to choose from. We shared the loaded tots, and those were a hit with the whole family. Prices were reasonable for a tourist area, although I was surprised to see my son's bottled root beer priced at $5. The atmosphere really makes this place stand out. It has a fun, retro vibe that's been well kept--a classic, cute bowling alley with a small arcade and a pool table. The service was very friendly and attentive, which added to the overall experience. All in all, it's a solid, family-friendly spot with good food, fair prices (for the area), and a nostalgic feel. Grew up in the area and stopping here brought back a flood of memories. Even rang an old friend to meet up with my partner and I. Same dark and moody vibe it always had and hopefully that doesn't change! They do have a nice out door area to sit and have a drink while listening to live music in the open concrete park. Great place for a fun couple hours in the Dells. The bowling is affordable. tip: try to find a coupon from your hotel lobby for 2 for 1 bowling! The bar is also a great spot to grab beers or cheap cocktails to enjoy while bowling. Another tip: Get here before the crowd. We arrived at around 4:15p and there were several lanes open. By the start of our 2nd game, there were many groups waiting for a lane. At some point it turned into cosmic bowling. That was a nice welcomed surprised. My Hispanic family and I went in hopes of bowling during the evening time and the women up front with brunette hair told us that we couldn't bowl because there was " a league coming in" and that we wouldn't be able to bowl until a much later time. Awesome place to spend the afternoon with family at the bar, bowling and it's very reasonable that you can also eat during bowling. The food here is always hot and delectable! The workers can be a bit annoying or slow and sometimes " mean " but they also are kind and overall have a nice selection of foods. I love how they have the ramps for kids which is popular in the kids topic. It gives kids education about bowling and possibly have them enter a bowling league! We went to Chalet lanes on a Sunday night during the off season as part of our Anniversary trip. The employees were extremely friendly and helped with every request. They even started the cosmic bowl for us, even though they don't do it on Sundays. Food was good, a bit pricey, but it usually is at a bowling alley. Most of the hotels in the Dells have a coupon book you can use. We got two games free with our stay at the Days Inn. Had a great time. Will definately be back next year! read more

The female bartender was a little more interested in chatting with her friends who came to visit, the male bartender actually stopped to chat with us, the dreaded tourists. It was our last day in the Dells & we needed to kill some time while our groups 4th member was getting a tattoo, what better place to go? The place looked kinda dark but when we got inside it was because they had their blacklight bowling going, at 12:30 in the afternoon. We got a lane & started bowling, the approach area was a little sticky, so those of you who slide when you release the ball will need to change your form a bit. I walked up to the lounge area to get some water & it looked like a nice little place I would go to grab a bite to eat & watch a game. The best part was the speedometer that clocks how fast your ball is going when it hits the pins. Of course we didn't notice until we were halfway through our 1 & only game, but it made for a quality 4 frames of who could throw their ball harder. Next time I'm in the Dells, I will definitely swing by to experience the lounge read more

So my visit here started rather pleasant. My girlfriend and I started bowling, we got some drinks, and then some food. The food was actually really good for bowling alley food, however the drinks did seem a tad watered down. We bowled about 4 games and as we were finishing up about 5 minutes before they closed at 2. I was on my last frame and they turned off our lane. Then flat out rushed us out of the building. They forgot to give us our coupon pass back and overcharged us. We didn't notice until we left because we were seriously pushed out the door at 2:01. They claimed that there was some type of law that prohibits them from having anyone in their alley after 2. So what I don't understand is why they are open till 2. If you seriously have that law, doesn't it make sense to close at 1:30 instead? Regardless, it was plain rude and made my girlfriend and I both very upset. We won't be going back anytime soon. read more

came here on a monday night after my boyfriend, my cousin, and i went to kalahari. they had this $5 wristband deal for shoes, nachos, fries, and pop. not a bad deal. we played 4 or 5 games each, rented shoes, + ordered nachos & 2 drinks and paid $15 each. my only complaint was that it took them 2 games to get our (cheese + chip) nachos to us. there's a bar and apparently a beer pong table too. read more
